The Era of Gods - Chapter 16

When his real body returned to the Divine Kingdom, a ginormous surge of power filled him.

This was an incantation of his entire Divine Realm. Just like traditional Gods that could benefit from the incantation of the rules of a Divine Kingdom when they were in their own Realm, human New Gods in the Overworld could benefit from both the incantation of their Divine Kingdom and Divine Realm. In this aspect, they were much stronger than the Old Gods.

In this Divine Kingdom, Lin Xiao wasn’t inferior to the incarnation of that Serpentman Demigod.

But the problem was that the Serpentman Demigod’s incarnation wouldn’t foolishly venture into his Divine Kingdom. He just had to slaughter every living being in Lin Xiao’s Divine Realm, and his powers would be greatly weakened. When that happened, his Divine Kingdom would crumble.

Hence, a Divine Realm was, for New Gods, of grave importance. It was a matter of life and death.

Fortunately, the protection provided by the Human Federation to new-born Divine Life was very much on point. During senior high, they generally wouldn’t be given enemies that were overly dangerous. In the meanwhile, teachers would be watching over them at all times to prevent accidents, just like this one.

Most certainly, there would be loopholes even in the best protection, just like this time. If it this weren’t a test with a teacher watching over him closely, should Lin Xiao have gotten a Serpentmen card and summoned the monsters to train his Spawn during usual times, if an accident had occurred, he would be done for.

Hence, in every single year, many students would drop out of school for whatever reason, or maybe even wither away.

Within the Divine Palace, Lin Xiao sat on the only throne that could be considered as rather ornate. In the entire Divine Palace, only this throne was relatively ornate. The other places were very simply decorated.

Lin Xiao, who had been accustomed to all of this a long time ago, didn’t care about it at all. As soon as he sat down, he focused his attention on the Creation Cube.

Two mountains of corpses floated within the boundless cube. His consciousness descended on top the mountain of dead Murlocs and Serpentmen. After a moment of thought, he chanted inwardly:

“Decompose!”

All of a sudden, a mysterious force of energy surged. The mountains of corpses began to decompose and soon melted down, layer after layer. At last, all the corpses were reduced into nothingness, leaving behind only two clumps of bloodied light.

When his consciousness fell on these two lumps of glowing blood, Lin Xiao revealed a smile on his face.

“As I expected!”

As he anticipated, one of these two lumps of blood was the bloodline of the unique Greymist Murlocs who had twice the reproduction speed and survival rate than regular Murlocs, while the other one was the bloodline of the regular Serpentmen.

Now, by expending a certain amount of Worship Value, he could merge these two bloodlines into a super rare Bloodline Card.

However, Lin Xiao didn’t do that. After pondering for a moment, he said abruptly, “Extract!”

The balls of light blasted apart into two clouds of bloody mist. Immediately after, the power of the Creation Cube surged. The bloody mist began to fade slowly. Driven by an invisible force, some sort of power within these two bloodlines were extracted, forming light blobs of five varying colors above the original clouds of bloody mists.

These represented a portion of pure Bloodline Origin, the Serpentmen’s Branding of Life, another portion of pure Bloodline Origin, the Murlocs’ Branding of Life, and their Breeding Rule respectively.

This would mean that a Serpentmen Bloodline Card consisted of a pure Bloodline Origin and the Serpentmen’s Branding of Life. With the Creation Cube, Lin Xiao had extracted them separately. He had even re-extracted the 5-Star Breeding Card that he fused with the Murlocs’ bloodline way back when.

After doing all this, he took out the 2-Star Cod Card, and decomposed it into pure Energy of Creation for backup.

For him, a 2-Star card was a waste of an opportunity. He didn’t care about those.

Next, Lin Xiao fell into contemplation.

Because now, he had two choices between whether he should use the Murloc or the Serpentmen as his main.

Precisely. By extracting the bloodline of both via the Creation Cube’s so-called Energy of Creation, he could choose to merge the bloodline of these two species into one single type of creature.

There were no issues on the technical side. The main question was which one he should use as the main composition.

In terms of personal feelings, he was inclined to the Murlocs. After all, they were his first batch of Spawn. He had developed feelings.

However, the Murlocs’ limitations were too great, which wasn’t good for future development.

If he were to choose the Serpentmen, they were powerful, but that would imply that he had to start all over again. Besides, the Serpentmen were land dwellers. As of now, there was no such terrain in his Divine Realm, and even after he fused the Divine Realm Card: Fertile Land, which he would acquire after the test ended, into his Divine Realm, the environment didn’t seem to suit the Serpentmen, either.

Coupled with the fact that there wasn’t enough food inside the Divine Realm…

Mm… that wasn’t too big of a problem.

The point was that, with a second race appearing in his Divine Realm, he would have to start over. He would need a series of cards to form an environment that was suitable for the Serpentmen, arm them, cultivate their faith, population size, and so on.

All this required time, and now, there was less than a month until the finals would arrive. In the Divine Realm, that would only be a little over 20 years. The Serpentmen’s growth speed was nothing compared to the Murlocs. Over a 20-year time span, they could never develop much combat power, and that would greatly affect his immediate combat power and his performance during the finals.

“Damn, luxury frustrations, this is!”

Lin Xiao scratched his head, deciding to not make the decision for the time being. When the test ended, he would go home and consult his dad.

His dad was a high-level demigod which plenty of experience in this area. He believed that his dad would provide him with great suggestions.

In the meanwhile, he also wanted to demand some goodies from his dad. It would be a waste to have such an awesome father and not use him.

Sometimes, Lin Xiao really wanted to diss the characters in some novels whose parents or family was obviously overpowered. The protagonist just wouldn’t utilize their family’s resources. They would struggling to get resources, cause trouble everywhere they go, and elevate themselves by saying that they were training themselves. They literally looked like ret*rds.

It would be different in the case where they had nothing to utilize. For those who had but wouldn’t do so, those were the actions of fools.

In a Divine Realm that wasn’t much different from Lin Xiao’s, only deserts could be seen as far as they eye could see, except for an oasis surrounded by hills in the middle of the desert.

At the moment, a barrier at the only exit of the oasis had been breached. The wooden fence was torn down, and there were corpses everywhere.

A hoard of goblins were waving their wooden clubs, bonespikes, and all kinds of random weapons as they charged into the oasis in the valley. A few dozen wounded Desert Lizardmen fought as they retreated. Within the valley, many young and elderly Lizardmen were grabbing onto their weapons, standing behind the fence by the lake at the middle of the oasis with horror on their faces as they watched the goblins charging in.

Above the Divine Realm, a golden figure which mortal beings couldn’t see looked bitterly at the battlefield below, especially at the few tall Bugbears. After a long sigh, the figure raised his head and said, “Sir, I lost.”

Class teacher Wu Hai’s voice sounded, “Are you sure?”

“Yes!”

“Very well then.”

In the next second, the dull striking of a drum sounded from above the horizon, and then, all the goblins in the oasis stopped as if someone had pressed their pause button. Subsequently, all the goblins became illusory, turning into rays of clear light and rising up into the sky. The oasis reverted to its original peacefulness.

Within the Divine Realm, class teacher Wu Hai kept a card in his hands and said while shaking his head, “This is very unfortunate. He was still in the top ten of the class two months ago, but an act of greed has caused his strength to plummet. Now, he can’t even pass regular tests.”

Zhen Wenzhuo shook his head likewise, “I think he stands no chance in the finals next month. That wrong decision he made has snowballed into this. It will be very difficult for him to catch up.”

At the same time, in another Divine Realm, hundreds of Swamp Lizardmen were attacking a two-headed crocodile about seven to eight meters in length.
