The Editor Is the Novel’s Extra - Chapter 40

The warehouse was now empty. While Jeongjin soon staggered out, and heaviness still presents inside his mind. He also did not forget to close the door before him.

Then the glow of magic disappeared, and as the door shut, the warehouse soon basked in darkness.

It wasn’t long before from the corners of the darkness, something shook. A young man, who had witnessed the flickering beams from before, raised his body.

It was Arthur who had fell in earlier.

He was hiding under the roof of the library warehouse while Ryuba was looking for his whereabouts. Schools were generally safe, but there was a high probability that assassins would camouflage on a day when there are many outsiders, especially when it was time for a vacation. So, Arthur was hiding to keep other students from getting involved.

He recalled the magic that caused him to stumble while in hiding.

‘I’ve never seen that before,’ Arthur thought.

It’s hard to attain but quite possible to become a level 2 or 3 wizards. It is not that rare of an occurrence to happen. But it would render a different story if a seventeen-year-old had already become a level 3 wizard. Even Jebedi reached level 3 only at the age of 18. Moreover, even within high-ranking wizards, only a few of them could cast the same spell five times in a row.

A person’s memory is not always a secure storage medium, so no matter how high their magical powers are, if their concentration were to be compromised, it would most likely render some error in their current activity.

‘How can I take advantage of Clayo Asser’s magic?’ Arthur thought after some while.

Such was his thinking because the latter’s magic exceeded his expectations. He also doesn’t know the existence of Promise, so he inferred it was remarkable evidence that Clayo was an extraordinary genius.

While left in deep darkness, the prince’s eyes became even somber.

Jeongjin, who was on his way back to the dormitory, was stunned by a sudden string of texts flashed before eyes that came from the Promise.

[The user’s involvement with the narrative increases.]

‘What?! Why? I didn’t even face Arthur today! Isn’t this an error?’

However, Clayo’s impulse to clarify was nothing compared to his desire to return to his room and rest his weary bones quickly. Thus, as soon as he arrived, he fell to the bed and soon sank to a deep slumber.

The next morning, the carriage arrived, as promised by Dione. The boy pitifully carried his baggage in one hand while struggling to hold Behemoth on the other arm.

“But aren’t you a terrestrial animal? What kind of Wind pushed you to go with me? Aren’t you supposed to stay at school only?”

“Meow! Meow! (The entire capital is my territory. Although, I just didn’t feel the need to come out.)”

“Okay, please lower your voice.”

“Meoooow! (I can’t spend our vacation without a meal!)”

“Okay….”

They finally left the school and crossed the river.

Soon, they arrived at the small but well-maintained mansion at the corner of Don Street along King’s Park that used to have many lush parks and private forests near its vicinity. One could reach the King’s Park within a 10-minute walk across the city streets of Xi’an.

After passing through the garden, the wagon finally stopped in front of the building’s front door.

“Are you there, young master?”

Dione waved her hands in front of the servants and maids that lined up. She was wearing a straw hat under the sun and a light-colored muslin dress.

When Jeongjin got off the wagon, a middle-aged, motherly-looking woman named Canton, walked out behind Dione and greeted him. He informed that Canton had worked for forty years at his original home in Colpos.

“Hello, young master. I am Mrs. Canton.”

“How are you, Mrs. Canton?”

It was clear she knew the old Clayo. Under the smile of a familiar figure, Clayo greeted her as best as possible.

Then the maid began to blush. Now it was a pattern that even he got used to.

“I have heard about the accident. But I guess you still enjoyed your stay at school. Your face looks perfect!”

“Yes, yes… I have found good classmates and teachers.”

“It’s the first time you’ve greeted me like this. I’m so pleased to see you with that kind of expression on your face.”

“Thank you.”

The awkward moment between the two ended with a high pitch exclaim from Dione. She discovered that Clayo had also brought with him a cat.

“Young master! Is this cat your pet?”

“Meoooow! (She’s strict. Yes, he’s my disciple and meal provider.)”

“It’s terrestrial. Its name is Behemoth.”

“What’s terrestrial? Ayu, but Behemoth, you are chummy with people. You’re cute!”

“Meow~ meoow.”
