Chapter 37- A Wise Summer Vacation (4)

Instead of looking over Clayo’s envelope, Dione courteously ended the conversation after the boy finished.

“Then, I think my mission is over, and I’ll inform you what happens next: I’ll be sending a telegram to Baron Asser informing him that his second son’s summer vacation is under my responsibility.”

Once again, her fan moved smoothly across her face. And this time, the blue eyes over it were full of mirth.

Clayo’s expression faintly crumpled because he felt a sudden setback in his escape plan.

“You look like you’re curious why I’ve made my decision! Okay, let me enlighten you. As a wizard, I can’t help but be interested in a student who received an accolade from a stingy Professor. You should be excited. For the first time since the Dean, Albion has another level 8 wizard,” Dione asserted.

Because he was like an older man who can’t help but…  Clayo’s thoughts faltered, and he continued to argue.

“That’s an overestimation. While I’m flattered, but I believe the dean must have thought too highly of me.”

He couldn’t help but be wary because he still hadn’t witnessed this woman use her magic.

“Everybody knows that Professor Jevedi doesn’t do things like this. Well, at the very least, I think you are a cute, young master. Enough to let someone stop and stare at you.”

“You’re teasing me a lot. Please be polite, Lady Dione.”

The woman was someone who could bewitch anyone as well, yet she was an enigmatic person Clayo couldn’t grasp.

Despite having improved his physique and physical strength through a strict routine of regulated meals and everyday exercise, his distraught and cautious persona was still present.

“Oh my, I feel embarrassed to say this… But, if you’re only a little taller, and have more color on your cheeks, you’d certainly get plenty of attention from girls.”

She then continued with a slight twinkle of her eyes, “I didn’t know at first, but now that I’ve seen you, your features take from your father. Don’t you know? There are lots of women who are secretly pinning for Baron Asser.”

Clayo coughed, wanting to steer the conversation to a different topic. “Ahem. I’m not sure this is an appropriate topic. But I’m certain you know that even if you shower me with such compliments, you won’t get anything from me.”

His brusque reply was a very bland answer to a charming girl’s coquettish hand at conversation.

After all, he still had to wonder about the real purpose behind the middle-aged wizard’s visit. It was especially dubious that she had decided to take on a child just because of a professor’s praises.

There was no exclusive access given to a child who only lives on allowances. Hence, his privilege and knowledge were limited.

‘Moreover, if her last name is Gray… then it’s…’ his thoughts trailed off at the sight of the woman observing him with a slight smile on her face.

Founded by Vasco Gray, the Gray Trading Association was Albion’s most recognized Mado handler.

Although they handled items of small sizes, they procured products with excellent quality. Mado is a generic term for magical tools with various magical functions. Its purposes are such, but not limited to, amplifying ethers and setting up magical shields.

Though it could have made from scratch, the materials can only found in ancient ruins.

Vasco Gray was the best person suited for creating these tools as he was an expert in the field of tinkering antique devices.

In the novel, he projected as a moody and unruly man. But on critical times, he had provided out some novel tools to assist Arthur.

‘Mr. Vasco Gray, did you have a daughter who hasn’t mentioned in the novel? Their age difference is a bit ambiguous…’

“Excuse me, are you related to Vasco Gray of the Gray Trading Association…?”

“Oh, you knew our Gray firm!” Dione enthused. “He’s my uncle. I was on the Merchant’s Centrum Trading Office. Until my uncle comes back, business is closed for the meantime. That’s why I can be your private teacher.”

Clayo looked at Dione with eyes full of doubt and caution.

“Oh boy, don’t look at me like that. It’s so cute to see the young master’s ears turn red while staring at me.”

Suddenly, Dione stood up and hugged the sitting Clayo, giving him no time to resist. His senses assaulted with something soft and warm, and the sweet scent of the woman drifted towards him.

“!!!”

Clayo quickly yanked Dione’s arm away. He had been completely taken aback by the sudden gesture from the girl. While she looked thin like him, she was even more potent than he thought!

“You’re a little… let me go. Lady Dione! What rudeness!”

“Don’t be childish, young master. Now that we are spending this vacation together, we should be closer.”

He would have openly expressed his gratitude, but her teasing and bluntness – treating him as if he were a little boy – only irritated and embarrassed him.

Come on, girl! He thought.
