Xia Yu was stunned by the information. He was first surprised that the game had this function, then he got nervous.

Who was sick? Who was dying?

He could tell it’s not the black cat since the cat was not a body-swap target anymore. Not to mention the cat was eating cat food right now.

Was it An Siyao? Or Xu Youxiang?

He opened the target panel and saw there was a red icon next to Xu Youxiang’s name, in the third slot.

So the crisis was with the bad-tempered girl!

After a brief hesitation, Xia Yu opened the slot and logged onto Xu Youxiang’s body.

After a short period of darkness during the body swap, Xia Yu could see the ceiling in Xu Youxiang’s bedroom.

He felt coldness around him. It was only September, it shouldn’t be this cold. The cold slowed down his thinking.

It took him five seconds to try lifting up his hand and pulling up the comforter. He failed twice before finally moving his hand and touching the comforter.

He pulled on the comforter. He couldn’t move it.

Was he really dying?

With his brain thinking again, Xia Yu gave up on trying to pull up the comforter. He looked left and right. When he saw a phone on the nightstand, he breathed a sigh of relief.

With great difficulty, he moved toward the nightstand and grabbed the phone. He pressed 120. Then, he lost consciousness.

When he came to, he was back in his own body.

He clutched his forehead, remembering that freezing sensation. His heart beat rapidly.

The fainting was how he traveled from his former life. This was the first time he had a near-death feeling.

“Xia Yu, what happened?” Gui Zixiao looked at the pale-faced Xia Yu.

It was the end of the school day. Many classmates gathered around them.

Stopping Gui Zixiao from calling 120, Xia Yu took a deep breath and recovered.

“What happened? You really scared me.”

“Get checked out at the hospital.”

“I’ll get the teacher!”

His classmates had all kinds of ideas.

“It’s okay. I was just thinking of something.” Xia Yu stood up and said he was fine.

With Xia Yu’s insistence, the students didn’t say anything else. They went off to their various after-school clubs or went home.

Xia Yu rested another minute before grabbing his backpack and walking toward the coffee shop.

He thought of Xu Youxiang on the way.

As soon as he got the phone and pressed 120, he lost consciousness; he couldn’t even wait for the call to connect.

What happened to Xu Youxiang?

He knew if he opened the target panel, he could see her status, but he was afraid to look.

He did try living in her body before. Inspite of her rude attitude, Xia Yu felt connected to her.

By the time he got to the school entrance, he made up his mind and opened the target panel.

Xu Youxiang’s icon was back to white. The jarring red color was gone.

She was saved?

Xia Yu breathed a sigh of relief.

Then, he got scared. He had believed that if the body he logged into had died, he would just come back to his own body and he would be fine. But this was just his guess. What if he died too when the body he was in died?

He became angry. Xu Youxiang got close to death in her room. When he logged into her, he didn’t feel any wounds, there was just a really cold sensation. She probably took something to kill herself!

What was that girl thinking? It was just…

Xia Yu couldn’t finish the thought. He had a normal body, so if he said that “it was just that she couldn’t move her legs,” it would be a selfish statement.

No one craved death. Xu Youxiang wasn’t perverted like that.

A lot of suicides by pills happened at night; the night was closely linked to death. Yet, Xu Youxiang chose 7 a.m. to kill herself. It was when her parents had gone to work. She had considered this carefully.

Sighing, Xia Yu got on the subway.

When he got off the train, he noticed two girls following him.

The girls thought they were hidden, but Xia Yu, who was often followed as a child, had noticed them right away. He just assumed they were going the same way.

Were they following him since he looked deathly pale before?

At the door of the coffee house, Xia Yu smiled at them.

Realizing they were spotted, the girls acted embarrassed for a while, then nudged each other to go inside the coffee house.

Just like Xia Yu had thought, the girls were worried about him. They had a cute idea that following him home would be a romantic thing to do.

They didn’t realize that he’d go into a coffee house, get changed, and come out in a suit.

When Xia Yu sat down to play the piano, they were so shocked they couldn’t speak.

The girls listened for half an hour. After he finished playing “The Pope’s Dancer,” they left.

Life was about more than guys, there were KTV and TV shows.

After work, Xia Yu went home. He checked Xu Youxiang’s target slot and was afraid of another suicide attempt. He could only log-on to the game once a day, so he couldn’t save her if she tried again.

Luckily, her name didn’t become red again.

By midnight, Xia Yu logged onto Xu Youxiang’s body again.

This time, the darkness lasted longer than usual.

After some time, Xia Yu opened his eyes and saw gray in front of him.

He tried moving his hands and feet. He felt weak but was no longer powerless like before.

He felt his body. He was wearing a patient’s clothes and lying in a hospital bed.

Was Xu Youxiang hospitalized?

His movements alarmed someone waiting on a nearby lounge chair.

“Xiangxiang!” The person rushed to get up. She reached his side and turned on the light.

Xia Yu could now see the clock.

It was 4 a.m. He had been passed out for four hours since he logged-on to Xu Youxiang.

He looked at the person in front of him. It was a middle-aged woman with a tired face. He could see a resemblance to Xu Youxiang.

Xu Youxiang’s mom looked at him. Her mouth opened and closed with no words.

She held up a bottle of water and opened it. “Want some water?”

Taking the bottle, Xia Yu took a few sips.

He knew the woman wanted to ask about the suicide attempt, but didn’t know how to ask without offending her daughter, so she didn’t.

After drinking the water, Xia Yu could feel more of his body. He frowned and felt his lower body, finding a tube.

He looked to the side of the bed, there was a urine bag.

It was normal for unconscious patients to get a catheter.

He’d never enjoyed this treatment in his two lifetimes. Who knew he’d get to enjoy it now?

Noticing Xia Yu’s gaze, the woman assumed he was unhappy about the catheter and rushed to explain, “The doctor said if everything went well, by tomorrow, actually, it could be pulled out during the day.”

Xia Yu prayed that the doctor would do this procedure after eight a.m., when he’d gone back to his own body, or it would be too mortifying.
