At night, Xia Yu logged onto the game. He saw the familiar black piano again.

He opened the lid of the piano. As he practiced, he asked An Siyao, “Where’s the housekeeping chief?”

According to what An Siyao said before, the housekeeping chief was coming back to the mansion tonight.

“You haven’t seen her yet, right?” Xia Yu asked.

In order to not leave a seemingly weak impression to the housekeeping chief, Xia Yu told An Siyao not to see the older woman before he arrived.

Impressions were crucial in a battle of power.

While a muscular guy may seem impressive, if he showed off a Pikachu tattoo, it’d be hard for him to overwhelm someone.

An Siyao didn’t reply right away. She changed the topic.

“You didn’t come here yesterday,” the girl said.

“… isn’t a good thing that I wasn’t here?” Xia Yu’s fingers missed a key.

“Yesterday, you weren’t here.” The girl rephrased her words.

Xia Yu had no choice but to explain. “I had other things to do. I can’t be here every day.”

“You have to at least tell me ahead of time.” The girl sounded unhappy.

“Okay, okay, I’ll let you know next time I can’t be here.”

After making the promise, Xia Yu felt conflicted. He sounded like an unfaithful husband who didn’t always come home.

“Alright.” An Siyao’s tone seemed more upbeat.

“So where’s the housekeeping chief?” Xia Yu asked again.

“She didn’t come to the mansion. She went home first.” An Siyao sounded apologetic for giving Xia Yu incorrect information.

Frowning, Xia Yu considered the possibly serious situation. “She said she’d be back today and just didn’t show up?”

“It’s not like that.” An Siyao explained, “I heard the other maids say Auntie Dong was flying this afternoon, so I assumed she’d be back tonight. I didn’t think she’d go home first.”

“When is she coming here?” Xia Yu asked.

“I don’t know.”

“…”

Taking out the girl’s cell phone, Xia Yu found the housekeeping chief’s number and sent a message.

“When will you come back tomorrow?”

A reply came right away.

“Tomorrow at noon.”

Putting down the cell phone, Xia Yu told An Siyao, “See, now we know. Why do you have to eavesdrop on the maids?”

The girl didn’t answer. She couldn’t do things like this.

“If she’s here at noon tomorrow, it’d be a little tricky. I can’t be here until 6 pm, so you have to be alone with her for six hours.”

The game limited playing to eight hours every 24 hours, with no early exit. If Xia Yu knew when the housekeeping chief would show up yesterday, he could have adjusted the time. Now, it was too late.

During the first six hours, the housekeeping chief is back. If the woman succeeded in dominating An Siyao, Xia Yu’s takeover wouldn’t be as effective.

“It should be fine. I have classes during the day, and I get home at 3 p.m. I do homework between 3 and 6 pm. Auntie Dong usually doesn’t see me during that time,” An Siyao said.

“You have classes?” Xia Yu was surprised.

“Yeah, so?” An Siyao didn’t understand Xia Yu’s reaction.

“I thought you’d have private tutors.” Xia Yu assumed the girl always stayed in the mansion, which explained her personality.

“I’ve always attended the East Land school, from kindergarten to high school. Hey, are you in college? Or are you working?” The girl used the chance to ask Xia Yu.

“I’ll retire in two years.”

“What?” After three seconds of shocked silence, An Siyao became suspicious. “Are you lying to me?”

Xia Yu didn’t answer, seemingly confirming the question.

“Jerk!” the girl said angrily.

“Fine. Let’s start practicing piano.” Not wanting to reveal himself, Xia Yu changed the topic.

After seven and a half hours of piano practice, Xia Yu used the remaining half hour to ask the maids about the housekeeping chief.

An Siyao said Auntie Dong went home. Xia Yu was surprised to learn the housekeeping chief had her own home; he assumed she was an old maid like in those TV shows.

At the end of the eight hours, Xia Yu exited An Siyao’s body.

He had an ordinary day. At around six p.m., he logged onto the game again.

This time, he didn’t see the black piano. An Siyao was inside her bedroom.

“Good evening.” The girl greeted Xia Yu, but she sounded a little down.

“Is the housekeeping chief back?” Xia Yu asked.

“Yes.”

“Did you talk to her during dinner?” Xia Yu needed more information.

“No. We don’t talk during dinner.”

“That’s good.”

“Is it gonna be okay? The housekeeping chief looked very mean.” An Siyao sounded anxious.

“Don’t worry, we’ll be fine.” Xia Yu comforted the girl.

Nodding happily, Xia Yu got up and went to the piano room. He began practicing as usual.

He was waiting for the housekeeping chief to find him. As a boss, attacking first was a sign of weakness.

After an hour, knocks sounded on the door.

“It’s Auntie Dong.” An Siyao could tell the knocking was from her.

Xia Yu didn’t say the housekeeping chief could come in. He kept playing the piano.

Two minutes later, the housekeeping chief opened the door herself and went toward Xia Yu.

Finally, Xia Yu saw the housekeeping chief.

She was an older and thin woman who wore feminine glasses and had a stern face. She looked exactly like Xia Yu had imagined.

“Miss.” The housekeeping chief spoke.

Xia Yu acted as if he hadn’t heard and kept playing the piano.

The housekeeping chief frowned and continued to speak. “I heard of what happened recently from Fangchun.”

She stopped talking, trying to use silence to pressure Xia Yu and to make him confess to any mistakes.

Xia Yu ignored her. He kept playing.

“Miss, a true lady wouldn’t ignore other people,” the housekeeping chief said.

Xia Yu continued to ignore her. He was in part 3 of the Gulda piece, he needed to concentrate.

After the housekeeping chief waited a while, she couldn’t resist walking up to Xia Yu. “Miss!”

Xia Yu finished playing the last note. He slowly put down his hands and looked toward the housekeeping chief.

His calmness unnerved the housekeeping chief.

“A true lady?” Xia Yu’s mouth turned up.

“Yes, as the inheritor of the An family, you need to be a true lady,” the housekeeping chief pushed down her surprise and said coolly.

Staring at the housekeeping chief, Xia Yu spoke slowly, “Then, you must be a true maid next to the true lady?”

“I believe I deserve this title.” The housekeeping chief showed no reaction.

“Therefore, a true maid would enter the lady’s room without permission and interrupt her piano-playing?”

The housekeeping chief couldn’t maintain her calm. She tried to explain, “It was you—”

“Are you blaming me, as a true maid?” Xia Yu interrupted her.

The housekeeping chief’s face reddened. She had no reply.

“You’re just a maid. Know your place.” Looking away from her, Xia Yu put his hands on the keys. He began to practice the Gulda piece again.

After standing aside for a while, the housekeeping chief calmed down. She couldn’t fight back verbally at Xia Yu, but she didn’t admit defeat.

She had never thought the always meek and obedient girl would act like this.

She backed away one step, “I’ll tell this—”

Dang–

Xia Yu’s hands slammed down on the keys, making a huge sound in the piano room.

“Your role as a true maid is to always interrupt other people’s piano practice?” He turned to look at the housekeeping chief.
