Su Xia did not have dinner that night. There was not any food left in her house. Her kitchen was barren. She thought of ordering some takeaway. After thinking about it for a while, she put on a hooded jacket and covered her face with a mask. She then made her way to a nearby convenience store to buy some snacks as she planned to watch some movies later.

Since autumn was here, the nights were starting to get chilly. The leaves of the trees on both sides of the road rustled and fell down onto the street as gusts of cold wind blew against them.

She stuck her hands into her pocket and walked leisurely toward the convenience store. She felt at ease while walking around at night. It felt as if she was the only one on the street. It was a moment whereby she was free of all her worries.

Most people returned home to be together with their family during Mid-Autumn Festival. The street was nearly deserted. The convenience store sign shone brightly in front of her. After pulling her hat lower down her face, Su Xia lowered her head and walked into the shop.

The shelves were full of all sorts of different products. Su Xia felt like she had arrived in heaven.

She selected a basketful of snacks. Her mind regained its clarity as she walked over to the cashier counter to make her payment. However, her desire to eat urged her to place the shopping basket, which was filled to the brim with snacks, on the counter without a hint of guilt.

The cashier was a young girl. She was staring intently at her phone screen.

It sounded like she was watching a drama.

Su Xia recognized the audio from her phone. It was her smash hit drama from last year.

She blinked her eyes and called out softly, “Hello there, I would like to have the bill.”

The girl seemed to have just noticed her presence. “Sorry, I did not notice,” she said apologetically.

She calculated the prices skillfully. She looked up at her. “Your total is…” she said.

The girl stopped talking once she met Su Xia’s gaze. She squinted her eyes with a puzzled look on her face.

“…Your eyes are really pretty.”

Su Xia showed the girl her payment QR code.

“You look like one of my favorite celebrities,” she gasped.

As the cashier scanned her payment QR code, Su Xia grinned. “Which celebrity is that?” she asked.

“Su Xia!” the girl sounded overwhelmed as she mentioned her favorite celebrity. “You should know her, right? She is so pretty! Her dramas are outrageously good! She even won the Best Actress Award at such a young age. Apart from that, she has a great personality and treats her fans really well,” the girl rambled on.

She let out a prolonged sigh. “However, I have never seen her in real life before. I have seen all of her photos, that is why I thought that your eyes resemble hers. Your voice sounds slightly similar as well,” she said.

Taking the full shopping bag into her hands, Su Xia hummed in response, “I know her.”

“Our Xiaxia is really well-known in the country. Even my grandmother knows her. She loves watching her dramas,” the girl said.

“That is why I want to work hard and earn lots of money! Once I am capable enough, I must meet her!” the girl continued.

Her eyes shone earnestly. Warmth pooled in the bottom of Su Xia’s heart.

“All the best!”

She placed the shopping bag onto the counter. She then removed her hat and mask with both of her hands. As the girl’s expression morphed into one of utter shock and surprise, Su Xia smiled gently.

“You have met me now! But you still have to continue working hard, alright!”

The girl’s mouth began to tremble. “Xia…Xiaxia! Ah! Oh my goodness, it is actually you! You are so pretty! I will definitely work hard!” she exclaimed.

Su Xia smiled, her eyes forming little crescents. She then put on her mask again.

“Happy Mid-autumn Festival.”

Su Xia walked out of the convenience store. After taking a few steps, a shrill scream could be heard from the store.

“Ahhhhh Mummy! Oh my gosh, my hand is still trembling! How lucky am I today!”
