The Arrogant Queen of Prophecy - Chapter 54

He ended the call.

All he could hear was the beeping tone of the line being dropped.

The head of the agency was sitting with his back stiff in the office chair, stunned by the statement earlier.

“She defeated the second best hacker in the country?”

He repeated what the officer had said and took a second look at his phone. He shook his head, “No, that’s impossible, how could she even? Hasn’t she become completely useless these past few years? Does it mean that… the latest news about her is not true?”

What if it really was a piece of fake news?

Then, he wondered who hated Quan Jin so much that such a report had been released to the elites, so that all of them would work together to bring down the Quan Corporation.

“Assistant, meet me in my office now.”

He was still in doubt, but at the same time he felt so nervous that he called the application review center, asking for the assistant who had talked to Quan Jin on that day.

The assistant soon came knocking at his door and entered, speaking politely, “What can I do for you, Sir?”

“Are you sure that there is something wrong with Quan Jin’s IQ?” He asked the assistant directly.

After listening to that question, the assistant felt slightly confused. He thought about it and tried to phrase it in the most honest way, “I am sure. I checked on Quan Jin’s academic results after reading the news. She has been the third last of the cohort for seven years in terms of academic performance.”

The head of the agency squinted his eyes.

Sometimes, one’s academic performance doesn’t necessarily reflect their talent and capability.

He contemplated for a while, then spoke, “Show me your conversation history with Quan Jin.”

“Yes, of course.” The assistant then took out his phone and passed to him after looking it up quickly.

He took the phone and browsed through the record. Quan Jin once helped the Central Government Agency. That was the reason why he was in contact with her. He still remembered that the girl back then was full of arrogance and confidence, and surely admirable capability.

“Maybe the officer has been mistaken?” He murmured to himself.

The chat seemed normal. There was nothing worth noticing.

Suddenly, the head scrolled all the way to the end of the conversation and stopped at Quan Jin’s last message.

[Have a backbone and don’t come begging at my feet next month!]

The tone was familiar. It seemed very aggressive but ironically reasonable.

He suddenly felt light-headed and dropped the phone on the ground with his lips quivering in fear. He then threw the file on his desk at the assistant, and screamed at him, “Get lost! If you cannot get Quan Jin back for the recruitment next month, you are fired!”
