“I gave her the guts to speak up. You have a problem with it?”

Her loud voice blasted through the doorway. Unknowingly, Quan Jin had already walked to the center of the hall as she glared at Mrs Quan.

Her mother trembled in fear.

She took a step back in slight disbelief, staring at Quan Jin’s familiar face as she blurted out, “Qu..Quan Jin? You–when did you arrive?”

Why wasn’t she informed by the security team?

Right… she had almost forgotten that those security officers were only loyal to Quan Jin, not the Quan family, Master Quan, or herself!

“And why do you care?” Quan Jin was like a knight in shining armor in the eyes of the servant as she strode over to them.

No! That wasn’t how Quan Jin was supposed to behave.

Mrs Quan was overwhelmed. That familiar aura, that same arrogance… in an instant, it felt as if the old Quan Jin was back.

That was impossible! No one was able to create the antidote for the drugs they had been giving her!

“Qu..Quan Jin, that wasn’t what I meant, I was just afraid something had happened to you. There are so many journalists trying to run you down, they would do anything to get to you. I’m glad you’re home now. V-very glad…” Mrs Quan said with a forced smile, then going on to explain, “This servant has no regard for seniority and respect. She even dared to persuade you to leave the compounds, I have no choice but to dismiss her for that.”

Quan Jin was fidgeting with the car keys looped around her finger, completely disinterested in what Mrs Quan was saying. She avoided the bodyguards and walked to the stairwell, sweeping her eyes across the area, “Did no one inform you that the chairman of the Quan Corporation and the master of this household have changed?”

A sense of foreboding took over Mrs Quan’s mind.

Changed?

“What–what do you mean it has changed?” Mrs Quan was stunned as her heartbeat accelerated.

Quan Jin threw a glance at her mother, as if looking down on her.

Under the nervous stares of the servant, the young lady standing at the bottom of the stairs looked down to read the time on her phone and answered blandly.

“Oh, as of forty-three minutes ago, the person in charge of both the company and the family has been changed to myself.”
