Could it be that God was helping Murphy in the midst of all this?

Which God?

Was it the Gods of Olympus?

If Murphy remembered correctly, the Gods of Olympus fell after the rise of Jehovah! As an inferior god, Jehovah’s name had already spread across the globe as early as 2000 BC. Back then, Jehovah had a weak following and wasn’t recognized by the Orthodox Church. Hence, few of the nations who believed in Jehovah met good endings.

It wasn’t until the coming of Jesus, when the “New Testament” replaced the “Old Testament,” that Christianity became the state religion of the Roman Empire. Only then did Jehovah beat the Gods of Olympus and replace them!

Then, after Trinitarianism emerged, Christianity began to spread more widely, and the Gods of Olympus gradually withdrew from the stage of history.

Thousands of years later, Christianity slowly spread throughout the world.

Murphy didn’t know much about the stories of mythology, but he still had a certain reverence for ghosts and spirits. This was because he had a psychic friend in real life, and even though this friend wasn’t as strong as the ones in stories, he really was psychic and proved that psychics really did exist!

So far, he was the only psychic Murphy had seen that could affect the material world.

He could manipulate magnetic fields and make metals that weighed less than 10 grams float in the air. It was because of this friend that Murphy had realized that psychics didn’t have limitless powers like the ones in novels. It’d even be better for them to not use their powers at all, because they consumed a large amount of energy and could eventually cause the body’s tissue to breakdown and explode! It was also because of his psychic friend that Murphy knew that people would leave fragments of their soul behind after they died. There were invisible spirits in the world, although they dissipated quickly…

It was also because of this special group of people that Murphy knew there was a tragic God called the Jade Emperor. His name was Zhao Xuanlang, and he’d been sealed away during the Song Dynasty. After sealing this God, the Song Dynasty partly collapsed, and Taoist master Zhang, the one who had sealed the God, died halfway during his journey.

There were many interesting and mysterious stories scattered throughout the fragments of history, and they were once Murphy’s hobby.

. . . . . . . . . . . .

The rules of this world weren’t as strict as the laws on earth since God’s magic existed in this world.

When it came to magic, although Murphy hadn’t ever seen magic in person, he had tried Holy Water before and knew its effects.

Even if Gods did exist, they most likely weren’t going to send him help for no reason.

. . . . . . . . . . . .

For the past couple of days, Murphy had been busy relocating the refugees the sea had washed ashore. Most of them were sailors, and they were tall and sturdy. They were also proficient in navigation and ship maintenance. Some of these sailors were shipbuilding craftsmen, which made Murphy really happy. These seven hundred refugees were all male, and the oldest one was only forty-five years old. The majority of the refugees were seamen, and most already had good swordsmanship skills to deal with robbers. They could join the battle as warriors with a little training!

The arrival of these several hundreds of people could definitely help improve the progress of the town’s development!

Murphy left the job of planning and constructing the port to Captain Barbossa. He was now officially a mid-level official of Athens and one of Murphy’s followers.

“Genius navigator (From the moment he was born, this person had a very deep understanding of the sea. He’s practically meant to travel the sea!) Port construction speed increased by 20%, ship construction speed increased by 15%, ocean trade revenue +2, and able to train sailors.”

What a talent!

What is a genius?

This man was a genius! He really lived up to his title of “Genius navigator” by having four abilities related to town development!

Murphy transferred half of the 700 people to the town. Some of the craftsmen were sent to the shipyard, while a portion of the blacksmiths from the crew who were used to repairing weapons was gathered together to build a blacksmith shop.

After making these arrangements, Murphy put all his energy into training his combat skills.

In the past couple of days, after learning combat skills from the General Guards, Murphy had noticed that his body had changed.

Firstly, he was able to jump to a height of nearly four meters, which meant he could’ve jumped directly to the second floor of a building in his previous life. Murphy didn’t know much about physics. He couldn’t tell if this change was because his physical strength had improved or because the gravity on this world wasn’t as great as it was on earth, or both. At the moment, his current record was lifting an object around one hundred pounds above his head with one hand and holding it in the air for about five minutes. In terms of combat weapons, Murphy, who had increased his physical strength from training, could now carry weapons as heavy as those the ancient military generals carried. Weapons that weighed 30 to 40 catties, which was about 40 to 50 pounds, were nothing to him.

Besides all this, his resilience was similar to what it had been in his previous life. There wasn’t that big of a change. After a hard day’s work, he would feel tired, and his muscles would ache when he woke up the next day. He would strain his muscles if he overtrained.

However, it was because of these muscle strains that he got to witness the magic in this world.

Of course, if one were to draw clear distinctions, this should be called divine power, not magic.

On a whim, Murphy decided to test the limits of his endurance, but after doing so, Murphy tragically realized that he couldn’t move his arms. When he moved them, it hurt so much that he felt like he was going to die!

That was it.

He had severely strained his muscles!

Murphy realized that he had really overdone it this time as soon as he raised his hands! His muscles were so badly strained that it would probably take at least three to five months for him to completely recover.

Fortunately, the high priestess from the temple rushed over as soon as she heard about Murphy’s injury.

“Your Excellency, you’re the heart and soul of the town!” The high priestess’s face was always as gentle as water, but at the moment her face was extremely serious. She chanted some obscure, profound ancient Greek words and placed her hands, which were as white as marble, on Murphy’s chest! Then, something unbelievable happened! A layer of white light appeared on her palms! The white light gradually turned into a pale gold, and it slowly assimilated into Murphy’s body with a low and solemn hum. A warm current flowed into his body, and after a couple of moments, Murphy realized his arms weren’t aching anymore, and that he could now easily move them!

How could someone be mad before someone so beautiful?

Murphy looked at the high priestess, who was reprimanding him, and had no idea why this thought came to his mind.

Although Murphy reproached himself, he couldn’t seriously be upset with himself, no matter how hard he tried, in the presence of her gentle appearance and sweet voice. This woman could make use of the divine light to make others look up to her and not dare to blasphemy, but for Murphy, who had always been on equal terms with her, it did not affect him.

This was because Murphy was resistant…

However, Murphy was more curious about the divine power. He grabbed the high priestess’s soft little hands and carefully and seriously studied them up and down, left to right, for what felt like half a day, yet he still couldn’t understand why her hands radiated light and how she could heal his severe muscle strain so quickly.

Her hands felt soft and fleshy, but besides that, they didn’t feel any different from any other ordinary hands.

He couldn’t come up with an answer, even after touching the priestess’s hands for a long while. Murphy even wanted to put these hands under his nose to see if they smelled different from other hands…

But the always conservative and pure high priestess had already been stunned by Murphy’s bold actions.

A slight red glow had slowly spread from her ears to her face, and when she saw Murphy try to move her hands toward his mouth, she suddenly jumped up like a frightened deer…

Eventually, she ran away.
