Chapter 29: New Hatred Piled on Old

Lu Ziming had a temper and would never admit himself beaten in an argument. After thinking for a while, he recalled that Tang Ge once called him and had her close friend break up with him on her behalf. At that time, Helian Ze took the cell phone from Lu Ziming and called out a name.
“Jian Rushi.”

For example, when Helian Ze once went to pick Jian Rushi up, someone took a picture and posted it on the school website.
For another example, Helian Ze once bought a hotel for the sake of Jian Rushi.

His words needled Jiang Xue’s heart. She could hardly believe it. In her view, Jian Rushi was not a patch on her.
She decided to meet Jian Rushi.
Their meeting prompted Jian Rushi to make up her mind to leave.
But Jiang Xue hadn’t expected that Jian Rushi would come back and get in her way again.
‘Jian Rushi took Helian Ze away from me. This time, she landed the part originally belonging to me. Jian Rushi must have done all this on purpose,’ she thought.
Jiang Xue gnashed her teeth in anger. Hatred of Jian Rushi, for old and new wrongs, welled up in her heart and drove her to do something crazy.
The costume sword-play TV drama was shot in a village. In order to shoot a close-up, Jian Rushi, who had no acting skills, tried repeatedly till the evening.
Jian Rushi felt embarrassed and guilty because of taking up too much of everyone’s time. So she asked Tang Ge to prepare some delicious food for the crew to fill their bellies.
Just after Tang Ge drove away, the director declared that the close-up was successful. Maybe it was because Jian Rushi acted well this time or because the director lost patience.
Jian Rushi felt the sword in her hand and gave a bright smile.
The small village was a popular filming location, and many TV plays had been shot here. So, there were some hotels outside the village.
The mountain road was rugged and the hotel was not far away from here, so everyone went back on foot.
Except for Jian Rushi, all performers of this TV drama were big stars. Jian Rushi was parachuted in and landed the part as the female lead, so everyone gave her the cold shoulder.
Jian Rushi knew that she was in the wrong, so she walked along the mountain road alone without asking for anything.
Suddenly, she felt a cool breeze brushing her ear. Subconsciously, she tried to sidestep, but was unable to dodge in time so the next second she got a brutal kick on the shoulder.
Jian Rushi was kicked down to the ground. She rolled over and propped herself up on her elbows. Then she stood in a defensive stance and looked around alertly.
Several masked bruisers closed in on her. “Poor girl, someone has hired us to kidnap you. We need money, so we accept the job. If you die, please tell the King of Hell that it’s not our fault.”
Jian Rushi blew a raspberry at them. They wanted to kill her, but she would never wait to be killed. What was more, she had had some training in unarmed combat. Fantasized about being a heroine, she had a sudden spurt of energy and began to fight against the kidnappers.
However, she didn’t do the combat training regularly, so her fighting skills were rusty. Furthermore, these bruisers were very strong. All told, she was no fighting match for them.
Jian Rushi was forced into a corner and had no way of escape. She gasped for air and said, “Do you expect me to surrender to you? Stop dreaming! I’m not afraid of you at all. Since you want to kill me, I will bite off a piece of your flesh before my death.” With that, she showed her white teeth so as to make herself look fierce, but in fact, she looked harmless.
It was getting dark. The director and actors all left. There was no one else in the mountain road. ‘I’m going to die,’ Jian Rushi thought to herself.
Just then, a beam of light lit up the mountain road. The very next second, someone got out of the car and shouted, “Jian Rushi.”
A few seconds ago, Helian Ze drove his car and wanted to picked Jian Rushi up. When he heard her shouting from the grove, he immediately stopped and got out. In order to frighten the bad guys, he walked towards the grove while shouting, “We are here to pick you up. Where are you?”
