Shannon dragged her feet into the restaurant. Social events were terribly annoying, but as the founder of her law firm, it was inappropriate for her to skip a meeting, especially with a company as big as LG.

“Oh, this is Casey, the new elite lawyer that we hired!” Karl introduced Shannon to Max with a flattering smile.
Shannon held Karl’s arm with a wide smile on her lips, but her heart felt like it was being stabbed.
Max stared fixedly at Shannon. It was that same pair of eagle-like eyes which had once infatuated her.

“Karl, let’s go. I’m feeling a little cold.” Shannon didn’t say a single word to Max. She simply glanced at him coldly before tugging Karl’s arm.
Karl immediately laughed and bade farewell to Max, then left with Shannon. All this time, Max didn’t say a word to Karl, but his gaze terrified Karl.
“Karl, get in the car. Let’s find somewhere nice.” Shannon opened the car door and enticed Karl with a smile.
This scene was playing out before Max and Jake when they came out of the restaurant. His limo was parked not far away from her.
Shannon immediately started the car and left. She gripped the steering wheel so tightly that her knuckles had turned white, and her body was trembling uncontrollably.
The more she tried to calm herself, the more she couldn’t.
“Sir, should we chase after them? Or should I get someone to investigate?” Jake asked carefully in Max’s car.
Max sat in the back seat, his dark eyes as deep as an abyss. Chase after her? What did he want her for?
“Go to the office!” Max barked his orders to the chauffeur then closed his eyes.
The image of Shannon in the restaurant kept on replaying in his mind. Her professional attire made her look extremely capable, but he felt that she was not as capable as she looked.
She had actually gotten together with such a greasy man. How disgusting!
“F*ck!” Max suddenly opened his eyes and smashed the laptop beside him.
Damn it! He was still thinking about her!
“Sir, are you alright?” Jake had never seen him like this before, so he didn’t know how to react.
Max was extremely vexed. He undid his tie and tossed it to the side.
Shannon brought Karl to her neighborhood and alighted from the car and she flagged a taxi down for him.
“Karl, stop following me.” Shannon turned around to warn him when she saw that he was following her.
Karl was shocked. What was going on? Why did she change her mind again?
“Don’t tell me that you are interested in President Wenley after meeting him? Ha! Let me tell you, he doesn’t fancy women like you! You’d be happier staying with me,” Karl said as he slung his arm around her shoulders.
