Max’s eyes glinted coldly. When she didn’t want anything but that villa, was it because she was going to sell it?

“Where is she?!” Max stared at Jake, feeling inexplicably frustrated.

Jake stood where he was helplessly. He had only found out about this when he heard others chatting about it. As to Shannon’s whereabouts, no one knew where she went!

“President, I don’t know where the Mis… where Miss Zanders is.” Jake suddenly realized that he couldn’t address her as the Missus anymore, and immediately corrected himself.

He didn’t dare to look into Max’s icy gaze. All he did was stand in the office with his head lowered, as the temperature in the office dipped drastically.

“Then hurry up and find her!” Max suddenly roared.

Jake immediately turned and walked towards the door, feeling a chill down his spine.

“Wait! Do whatever you need to, but make sure you buy the villa.” Jake’s hand had just touched the door when Max stopped him again.

Jake stood there at a loss. He had no idea what the President was thinking.

He felt a frosty gaze land on him, and he immediately retreated from the office.

As Max sat in his office, Shannon’s figure appeared in his mind again.

It was twilight outside. The neon lights shone into the dark office through the window walls.

The medley of lights reflected Max’s impeccably handsome profile, as memories flashed past his mind.

In the past, no matter how late it was, she would always wait for him at that house.

He had always felt that the yellow light in the house made people feel lethargic, but now that he thought about it, it brought warmth to him.

Bang!

At the thought of this, Max smashed his cup on the ground, a trace of anger surfacing in his eyes.

He hated this feeling, hated this type of involuntary longing!

He told himself, he didn’t love her! Others could have weaknesses, could have people they loved, but he couldn’t. This was precisely why he married that woman.

Max got up and left the office, driving straight to the villa that he had bought with Janice.

All women were about the same. So long as he had a woman by his side, he wouldn’t be reminded of her.

“President Wenley pays you so much every month, and this is the quality of food that you’re buying?” Janice had a kindly expression on her face, but her tone was somewhat scary.

Max was standing at the entrance and overheard this. When did Janice start caring about such things?

“Max, you’re back. Have you eaten?” Max was thinking of leaving when Janice stood up and called out to him.

He turned, intending to go out, but Janice had already strode up to him.

“Is it raining outside? Your clothes are wet. I’ll get the servants to make you something to eat. It’ll be bad if you catch a cold.” Janice showed her usual gentleness and consideration.

Max couldn’t explain it, but he still felt a sense of displeasure. Also, this luxurious villa didn’t look like home, no matter how he looked at it.

He walked in, his brows still furrowed.

Back then, in the other villa, she would enter the kitchen when he reached home every night. After a short while, the dining table would be filled with dishes.

The way she wore an apron made him feel relaxed at one point in time.

Shannon’s shadow kept hovering in Max’s mind. He felt more and more frustrated.

Damn it! Why was he still thinking about that woman?

She had even sold their house. Why would he still miss her?

The more Max thought about it, the more frustrated he became. Looking at Janice’s red lips, he felt even more agitated.

He rushed towards her and bit Janice’s lips, and immediately, she gasped in pain.

“Max, what’s wrong?” Janice’s lips hurt from Max’s bite, and she subconsciously pushed him away.

Max looked at Janice, and all of a sudden, he saw Shannon’s face in front of him!

“Max, Max?” Janice called him.

Max suddenly came back to his senses, and his gaze immediately turned frigid.

“Max? Are you feeling unwell? Should I call the doctor over?” Janice didn’t know what happened, but she felt that he was acting strangely.

Max snapped out of his daze when he heard her questions. What the heck was he doing?

“I’m going out for a while. Rest early.” Max got up and strode out of the villa.

Janice looked at Max’s figure, her eyes gradually turning cold. This house had been furnished for so long, and she had stayed here for a few months, but all this time, he hadn’t even touched her once.

She crossed her arms and leaned against the sofa with her eyes closed. What was wrong with him? Did he really fall in love with that woman?

But if he loved Shannon, why did he divorce her?

“Go and find out what exactly happened at the Wenley Corporation today.” Janice finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. She got up and went upstairs to call her lackey.

She had to know why Max would suddenly act so out of character, or she wouldn’t know what her next steps should be.

Half an hour later, Janice finally received the news. The only difference from yesterday was that Max had found out that Shannon had sold the villa.

After hearing this news, she lost her cool and smashed her phone.

Because she used too much force, the vase beside the wall fell, and shattered into pieces.

She looked at the broken pieces on the floor, heartache creeping into her. These pieces seemed to be telling her that her relationship with Max would never be as it originally was; it would simply be like a broken vase.

“Ah, why is this broken? I’ll clean the mess up.” The servant rushed up when she heard the clamor in the room.

Janice stood up and walked towards the study. So what if he fell in love with Shannon? If his heart belonged to someone else, she could just snatch it back. Anyway, didn’t he already belong to her now?

No matter what, Shannon still had to be eliminated. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know how things would develop in the future.

“How’s the matter that I got you to do? Where exactly is Shannon?” Janice called another subordinate.

She had already asked this person to investigate Shannon’s whereabouts.

However, he reported that he wasn’t able to find any news about Shannon.

Janice rubbed her temples with one hand, feeling a headache coming on. How was it possible that they couldn’t find a single person in this city?

“Investigate carefully once more! Now that she has sold the house, she’ll surely need a place to stay. Call all hotels as well as realtors, you must find her!” Her hands shook from her tight grip on the phone.

Max’s actions in recent days were making her extremely uneasy.

She had to rid Shannon from Max’s heart. She couldn’t let her painstaking efforts go to waste in the hands of that woman.

Naturally, Shannon didn’t know what Janice was planning. After meeting Betty, she brought her luggage and checked into a hotel.

Now that she had left Matthew’s place and sold her house, the burden in her heart was finally lifted. She hadn’t slept properly since she lost her child.

But tonight, she actually fell asleep early. However, she was still haunted by numerous dreams.

Sunlight filtered into the room the next morning. Shannon got up and pulled open the curtains, then reached her hand out towards the sun, allowing the light to filter through her fingers, causing her eyes to be blinded by the light.

It was an early summer morning, so the slightly chilly winds made one lose all their sleepiness. Shannon turned around and went to the bathroom. After washing up, she sat by the window and stared blankly.

She wanted to leave, but she didn’t know where to go..
