Southern City Awaits The Moon’s Return - Chapter 44

Shen Zhilan bit her lip and silently picked up her bag before walking to the corner at the back.

After everyone was seated, Chen Zifan, who still remained standing, stood out even more.

The teacher said helplessly. “Student Chen Zifan, find a place to sit down!”

Chen Zifan looked as if he had lost his soul. He walked to his seat and sat down, and his eyes glazed over as he looked ahead.

When he complained to Fei Nancheng, his cousin had reminded him to ‘grow up a little so you don’t get used by others’. Earlier, he had said that ‘the one with the waterlogged brain is you’.

It turned out that there really was a hole in his brain. He actually helped that illegitimate daughter Shen Zhilan bully Panda Eyes for more than three years?!

He looked at Shen Yugui in a daze.

She glanced over, as if sensing his gaze, and Chen Zifan instantly turned away. He refused to look at her with his guilty conscience.

Shen Yugui. “??”

‘Aren’t you embarrassed, acting so chuuni?’

She snickered and looked at Shen Zhilan, who wanted nothing more than to shrink into a ball. She had been crying and her eyes were completely swollen. Her makeup was also ruined which revealed her ugly facial features.

However, Shen Yugui did not feel any gratification in her heart.

Just the thought that her elder sister endured this kind of life for three years made her heart go as cold as a diamond.

‘It’s not enough.’

After class.

Shen Yugui was the first to stand up. She walked slowly to the panic-stricken Shen Zhilan and learned from her actions. She said, aggrieved, “Sister, daddy hasn’t come home for years. Can you tell your mother to let daddy come home? My mother cries every night and has almost cried herself blind.”

Shen Zhilan. “…”

The words were clearly mocking, but Shen Yugui said it very seriously. If Shen Zhilan was not sure that she said something similar earlier, she might have believed her.

She bit her lip. Not wanting to suffer the mockery of others, she ran out crying.

Shen Yugui and Zhang Qianqian left the classroom chatting and laughing, leaving Chen Zifan alone in his seat staring at their backs.

At this moment, his phone rang.

He answered it. “Cousin?”

Fei Nancheng’s voice was calm. “I’m going to your university this afternoon to inspect a program. Will you be around?”

Chen Zifan nodded, but his voice was downcast. “Yeah.”

There was no class in the afternoon, so Shen Yugui went for lunch with Zhang Qianqian.

While getting their food, the lunch lady accidentally spilled food on her sleeve.

Zhang Qianqian got a fright. “Congxin, are you alright? Did it scald you? The aunties are all trained and I’ve never seen anything like this happen since I started university more than three years ago. How could her hand have slipped like that?”

Shen Yugui. “…”

What other reason was there other than that she was unlucky!

The lunch lady kept apologizing. It was clear that she did not do it on purpose.

Looking at the oil stains on her sleeve, Shen Yugui said to Zhang Qianqian calmly. “Just help me order some takeout. I’ll go back to the dorms and change my shirt.”

Zhang Qianqian nodded.

Shen Yugui walked out of the canteen and strolled around the campus.

She took out her phone and opened up the lottery app, and was about to check it when she suddenly heard a familiar voice in the garden. “I never said that she was an illegitimate daughter, but Liu Ling misunderstood and spread false rumors around. Afterward, I was even more afraid to clarify my identity after finding out that you don’t like illegitimate daughters. Brother Zifan, I’m sorry.”

Shen Yugui turned and saw Shen Zhilan pulling on Chen Zifan’s sleeve, acting pitifully.
