At this moment, it was both spectacular and magnificent.

Ji Anning stared at the fountain while her mind drifted far elsewhere. Ji Jingfeng swung his head around and glanced at her as he said, “Little Uncle is back.”

Ji Anning’s thoughts were interrupted. She pursed her lips and smiled. Since she had seen him earlier, she was unperturbed.

The fountain was a dead giveaway. It was built for him. Unless he returned, why else would it be running?

Ji Anning turned her gaze toward the fountain again as its waters rose and fell. A slight twinge suddenly emerged from the rims of her eyes.

The car gradually pulled up to the mansion’s main entrance, where the housekeeper was already waiting. Ji Jingfeng undid his seatbelt and left the vehicle. He casually tossed the car keys to the housekeeper.

Then he reached his hand out towards Ji Anning, who had trailed behind him after she got out of the car.

His warm and soft palm left Ji Anning confused. A little surprised, she raised her head to look at Ji Jingfeng.

Ji Jingfeng raised an eyebrow and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“Nothing.” Ji Anning shook her head. Inside, her heart brimmed with annoyance and self-reproach.

Isn’t it normal for us to hold hands? The anxiety must be driving me nuts.

Stepping through the main door, Ji Anning could sense a long-overdue coziness in the atmosphere, even though no one was in the living room.

Perhaps… her heart was playing tricks on her.

“Everyone is probably eating in the dining room. Let’s head over.”

The two changed out of their shoes. Ji Jingfeng held Ji Anning’s hand as they walked over to the dining room.

Ji Anning furrowed her brows. She pushed Ji Jingfeng’s hand away naturally. “Jingfeng, I’m not hungry. I made plans with my classmates to report back at school. I don’t want to be late. I’d like to go get ready.”

Ji Chicheng was back. At this very moment, everyone must be in the dining room. The thought of the ordeal last night left her daunted, and she lacked the courage to face them all.

At that, Ji Jingfeng did not insist, “Then go get ready. I’ll help explain things to Grandpa.”

“Thanks.”

Ji Anning squeezed out a stiff smile. She nodded her head at Ji Jingfeng and thanked him. Then she watched as he went into the dining room before she heaved a sigh of relief. She turned towards the stairs.

In an obscure corner, at the very second Ji Anning turned, he stopped and gazed idly at her. He watched as Ji Anning sauntered upstairs.

He raised a foot, getting ready to step out from the corner. His eyes abruptly flashed as a petite silhouette exited a room on the second floor in a huff and headed towards the stairs.

The man contemplated. He glanced at Ji Anning, who was about to make her way up the stairs, his lips curved upwards intriguingly. As though he was lying in wait for some drama, he collectedly retreated into the shadowy corner.

“Ji Anning!”

As Ji Anning set her foot on the staircase.

Suddenly, someone called for her from upstairs. It was a shrill voice.

Ji Anning shrugged her shoulders helplessly. Twitching her lips, she raised her head and smiled, “Ruoqian.”

A roughly 15 to 16 year old girl, came aggressively down the stairs and walked up to Ji Anning. She looked haughtily at her, “Have you finished my summer break homework yet?”
