She shook her head tickled by it as she turned towards the staircase.

“Mhm.”

At the sight of Yang Danning’s zeal, all Ji Chicheng did was acknowledge softly. He changed out of his shoes then looked up at Ji Anning, who had already gone up the staircase.

A thought sent his sexy lips curving up glacially.

In his artful eyes, flashed a treacherous ray of light.

The Jis strict family rules decreed that when it came to dinner, all family members had to turn up at the dining table unless they had special reasons.

With Old Master Ji sitting at the head of the table, everyone at the table started eating one after another.

As usual, Lin Yanqin and her two daughters sat in a row while Ji Anning and Yang Yufang sat together.

Now that Ji Chicheng was back, he sat right across from Ji Anning next to Old Master Ji.

“Why isn’t Jingfeng back yet?” questioned Old Master Ji in a deep tone as he picked up his chopsticks and peered towards Ji Anning.

At the sound of that, Yang Yufang quickly said, “He called to say he had an experiment to do at school and won’t be back for dinner.”

Old Master Ji muttered, “Mhm,” and did not continue.

After he started with his chopsticks, everyone followed suit to pick up theirs. People customarily placed food in their bowls, but Miss Yang, who was here as a guest put a piece of stewed beef brisket into Ji Chicheng’s bowl, “Chicheng, I remember that you like eating this.”

This eagerness drew the attention of everyone at the table while they postulated in their minds.

Ji Zhengdao lifted his eyelids to glance at Yang Danning and ask, “Danning, you’re almost 20, right?”

Yang Danning smiled and nodded, “Yup. Come 25th December on my birthday; I’ll be turning 20.”

“It’s a good age to start planning your marriage,” Ji Zhengdao nodded his head thoughtfully.

Yang Danning shyly lowered her head, “Hey, Grandpa Ji. I’m still small.”

“Cough,” Ji Anning had choked due to her display of affection. As she coughed, Yang Danning brought her a cup of water to drink.

Then she discreetly cast Yang Danning a look of protest.

It was unsuitable for this person to be pretentious. When others behaved this way, it sparked criticism, but it was comical when it came to her.

“I don’t look that old myself. Call me something else next time,” Ji Zhengdao glanced at Yang Danning with a rare moment of amicability.

His intention was far too conspicuous, and all eyes instinctively swung towards Ji Chicheng.

Ji Chicheng nonchalantly maneuvered the chopsticks in his beautiful hands, taking his time eating the food in his bowl.

Ji Anning’s glances shifted from his face to his bowl, where she noticed the beef brisket Yang Danning placed in his bowl, got relegated to the side as though he had no intention of eating it.

When was his cold sense of superiority ever going to change?

Ji Anning pursed her lips, but as she was about to avert her eyes, the man’s dark eyes turned to gaze upon her.

Caught by surprise, the chopsticks in her hand shuddered gently.

Miss Yang was at a loss from the astonishing progress she made. Incapable of curbing herself, she looked abashedly at Ji Zhengdao and said, “Uncle!”

“Hyuk.”

This greeting left not only Ji Anning but everyone else at the table, including Ji Chicheng, who was watching Ji Anning coldly, sniggering out loud.

An extraordinary smile bloomed on his beguiling face.

Initially, Ji Anning could still contain herself, but the sight of Ji Chicheng smiling was infectious, and she started laughing too.

She quickly veered her eyes away to take more vegetables and stuffed them into her mouth.

Slowly she chewed as she sampled it carefully.

Only Ji Zhengdao nodded his head with a straight face, “Mhm.”
