It hurts!

She had no idea how long she slept before she regained consciousness bit by bit. Ji Anning slowly opened her eyes. All she felt was pain surging through every inch of her body.

Her temples felt as though they were exploding from the pain.

The bedroom was completely dark due to the tightly drawn curtains. But she could faintly make out the outline of the furniture and decorations.

Suddenly recalling where she was, her eyes abruptly opened wide. She flipped herself over.

The rawness left her more panic-stricken. Swallowing the pain, she felt around for the light switch. The room lit up brightly.

Everything was foreign to her. It was not her bedroom. It was… a hotel!

Ji Anning lowered her head and eyed her body. A white bathrobe hung loosely from her shoulder, if it were even a tiny bit looser it would have slid off.

It shook her inside.

It was no dream. Everything that transpired last night was not a dream. Someone covered my eyes and…

Her memory came back in bits and pieces. Yesterday marked my engagement with Jingfeng and both of our 19th birthdays.

At the Sky City Hotel, the party was graced only by Ji family members. Neither media nor any related to business were invited. Because both she and Jingfeng were still in school, so as to not affect their campus life in the future, Grandfather chose to make the engagement party lowkey.

Only a handful of the Ji relatives had arrived. She recollected drinking a glass of champagne her mother gave her. Why did I lose awareness after that?

How did I end up in this room and get…

“Anan”.

As for her memory of last night, other than agony, all that remained was that gentle greeting.

So, was it Jingfeng?

Holding her forehead, she did her utmost to find evidence and analyze whether it was Ji Jingfeng last night. A familiar ringtone suddenly went off. It was hers. She found her phone under the pillow. The caller ID read: “Jingfeng”.

Her eyes quivered guiltily. She adjusted her frame of mind before picking up the phone. Holding the phone up to her ear and she said uneasily, “Hello?”

“Anan, are you up?”

Not a hint of change came from Ji Jingfeng’s voice, which sounded as kind and natural as before.

This sense of normalcy rendered Ji Anning’s heart even more uncertain, “Jingfeng, last night, I…”

She apprehensively hummed and hawed over the question she was about to ask. Ji Jingfeng interrupted her, “You had too much to drink and went back to the room to sleep. When it was time to leave, Mom couldn’t bear to wake you up, so she discussed it with Grandpa and let you stay at the hotel.”

“Then what about you?” Ji Anning asked almost instinctively. The second she finished, she clutched her phone tightly as she anxiously awaited Ji Jingfeng’s reply.

“Anning, something suddenly happened to my classmate last night. I went over to help. It got too late, so I didn’t go home,” replied Ji Jingfeng. His voice became hesitant as well, “When we get back, can you… tell Mom that we were together last night?”

Can you tell mom that we were together last night…
