From his fingertips to his wrist, his whole palm was as if made of gold, gleaming a luxury shine.
‘Goldenized?’
Lin Chao was astonished. He had thought that genetic modification was a change in the body that could not be visually seen. Why did his body turn golden like he was a Golden Creature?
During his daze, the icy stream that stayed on his palm immediately scooted back to his abdomen when his brain let go of its control. Simultaneously, the golden sheen on his palm dulled rapidly to recover the usual color of human skin.
When Lin Chao broke out of his trance, he was brimming with curiosity. He maneuvered the cold stream once more to his palm, like an electric circuit connection, instantly turned golden again.
Lin Chao felt the Goldenized palm. It was cool to touch, no transfer of his body temperature and smooth like a metal.
He tried to grab the eggshell.
Crack!
The eggshell of comparable hardness to common steel fractured easily from his golden fingers’ gentle touch.
Eyes widened, Lin Chao did not expect the Goldenized hand to be this powerful despite knowing it was extraordinary. He felt himself only use very little strength but could crush metal. If he had exerted full force, he could probably indent a metal board of over ten centimeters thick. Such an alarming force must at least be double his physique!
‘This is the strength after being Goldenized?’ Lin Chao was struck with awe.
The enhancement was no weaker than possessing the Strength Enhancement from the Battle series!
Lin Chao suddenly thought of something and tried to drive the mysterious stream of energy from his palm to his ears. When all the iciness traveled into the meridians of his ears, he felt his sense of hearing significantly increased. Many sounds that he could not previously, were all clear to him now.
The soft noise of leaves falling a few miles away, the footsteps of zombies more than ten miles from here… All the sounds were caught by his ears distinctively.
‘Indeed!’ A hint of amazement colored Lin Chao’s face. The mysterious stream was unbelievable. It could transform any part of the body to the Goldenized state and once Goldenized, these parts were enhanced twice more!
‘I’ve never expected the Golden Blood to be so magical. It’s no wonder the big guns in the past fought for it so insanely!’ Lin Chao could not help exclaiming as he stored the empty eggshell into the alternate dimension space and retrieved another crocodile egg.
The icy stream in him was too little, only able to afford to turn a small part Goldenized. If he had a larger cold stream of energy, his whole being could enter a Goldenized state! The enhancement that he could achieve by then was terrorizing just from the thought of it!
Lin Chao repeated what he did earlier. Cutting open the tough eggshell with his Modified Dragon Wings and slipping himself inside, soaking himself in the Golden Blood.
Eight hours went past. As the first ray of sunlight hit from the window, Lin Chao opened his eyes to see that the Golden Blood in the egg was fully absorbed. The cold rush of energy within him felt twice as strong, so he tried distributing it evenly and let them stream respectively to his two palms.
In a blink of eyes, both his palms were Goldenized.
Delighted by the effect, Lin Chao took out the third crocodile egg and resumed his immersion.
Three days later, Lin Chao had consumed eight out of the nine crocodile eggs he had. The cold torrent within him was palpable and could turn both his arms Goldenized!
He planned to spare the last egg to his elder sister, Lin Shiyu. He had soaked up eight eggs, one more made no difference. If Lin Shiyu could receive the modification this golden crocodile egg provided, her overall combat capability could elevate several times.
Nonetheless, Lin Shiyu’s current physique restricted her from ingesting the egg now. She probably had to reach a physique of around ten times first. Otherwise, her body would blow up unable to withstand the potent Golden Blood.
Lin Chao felt a little weak looking at the eight empty eggs in the alternate dimension space. In total there were at least two to three tons of Golden Blood from the eight eggs, but it had only sufficed for two Goldenized arms. He needed at least four more times of the same portion if he wished for a fully Goldenized body.
The strongest people in his past life measured Golden Blood in drops or grams but it was tons for Lin Chao… He chuckled dryly, shaking his head, leaving his room after wearing some clothes.
It was morning now and Lin Shiyu as well as Fan Xiangyu were out hunting. The little shrub monster was brought along; Fan Xiangyu was currently the only one who could command upon its tunneling ability.
Since becoming a Special Evolved, Lin Shiyu would go hunting for a period of time daily. Even though Lin Chao had told her that the normal zombies had no evolution nucleus in them, yet she was happy to do so, as if it were a way to kill time.
Lin Chao could only let her be. Fan Xiangyu was there with her and she was a Special Evolved, they would be alright as long as they did not encounter a Peril Strain.
There was only the Golden Hound in the house now, laying at the door sleepily and yawning with its long tongue stretched out. Its ears flopped on its face, looking like it lacked a good sleep.
The canine shook up from the floor when it heard the door opening. When it saw Lin Chao who exited the room, its eyes thinned as it wore an apple-polishing smile, approaching with a little jog.
Lin Chao patted its head and took the porridge that both girls did not finish this morning from the fridge. He gulped down two bowls with hot sauce and felt refreshed.
“Have you eaten?” he asked the dog casually.
Shaking its head, the Golden Hound looked at the little porridge left in his bowl longingly. Lin Chao was about full, so he pushed the bowl to it. “Eat up, call the girls back when you’re done.”
The Golden Hound stuck its tongue into the bowl immediately sniffing the food. With a curl and a roll of its red tongue, it wolfed down the porridge in two mouths. However, it coughed everything out in the next second and continued coughing violently, rolling about hugging its stomach.
Lin Chao was stunned for a beat before realization struck him. He faked a cough and poured the canine a bowl of water. “I forgot that dogs can’t take spicy food. Drink fast.”
Picking itself up, the Golden Hound made sad pity eyes at Lin Chao before quickly lapping down the bowl of water.
When it was done drinking, Lin Chao patted its head. “Go, go call them back.”
The Golden Hound made a burp and hopped off of the chair as if receiving a command, bounding out of the house.
Going back to his room, Lin Chao took out two maps and planned the route to the capital base.
In a while, Lin Shiyu and Fan Xiangyu were led back by the Golden Hound. The little shrub monster sat on the canine’s back with its tendrils wrapped around the dog’s waist. Three leaves on its upper body were comfortably stretched out, with two leaves spanning left and right like two arms while the largest leaf in the center had a mouth on it.
“Lil Chao, you’ve come out!” Lin Shiyu ran over excitedly and flung herself into Lin Chao’s embrace upon seeing him, looking up at him gleefully.
“Not injured, are you?” Lin Chao asked with a light chortle.
“Of course not.” Lin Shiyu wore a slightly cunning grin as she said, “These normal zombies are too weak. Sometimes when I’m surrounded, Lil Xiangxiang will help me take away a few of them. There’s no sense of challenge at all.”
‘Lil Xiangxiang?’ Lin Chao could not help smiling in amusement when he watched Fan Xiangyu who pulled a long face on the side.
“Lil Chao, are we departing to the capital base since you called us back?” Lin Shiyu asked.
Lin Chao nodded slightly and said, “Pack up your things.”
Lin Shiyu pointed at Fan Xiangyu who wore no expression. “What about her? She’s a zombie. Will they catch her and dissect her when we enter the base?”
Fan Xiangyu who had not shown any emotion finally cracked. If those with special abilities sensed her identity, she could possibly be captured and turned into an experiment.
Chuckling, Lin Chao said, “Don’t scare her. She looks just like us. No one will know that she’s a zombie. As long as she doesn’t expose herself, even a Sensory Evolved won’t detect it.”
Fan Xiangyu was relieved, feeling her back drenched with cold sweat. She glared at Lin Shiyu and cursed at her silently. ‘This little devil is too wicked!’
After packing up, the group set off in the direction of the capital.
