Red Dragon Emperor - Chapter 21

Translator: Atlas Studios  Editor: Atlas Studios

Jose was a dragon of action. He returned to his lair to dig out the buried treasures. Then, the two dragons flew into the clouds.

Under the cover of the dark clouds, they flew from morning to night. By the time the moon and stars were disappearing in the sky, the two dragons finally arrived at their destination — the borders of the Jorgol Mountains, the Dark Forest, and the Great Northern Plains.

The border area was not surrounded by mountains and forests. Instead, it was a large transitional area of low hills. The decline in height here was in comparison to the Jorgol Mountains, but in fact, the altitude was still pretty high, being between 400 to 1,000 meters.

Due to the flat ground between the mountain peaks, from afar, the mountain peaks looked like the canopy of a large forest. Thus, this area was also named the Modo Peak Forest.

“We’ve finally arrived at the Modo Peak Forest.”

Jose flew in the air while looking down at the forest; he then looked up into the distance. He saw a white ribbon-looking thing on the ground stretching far into the distance with no end in sight, but he knew it was the source of life in the northern area of the Tedanol Continent — the Volgar River.

The Volgar River originated from the melted snow and water of the Jorgol Mountains. Along the way, the streams converged into a river that flowed through the Dark Forest into the sea. Countless tributaries flowed through most of the Northern Lands, nourishing all life in the northern area.

The Northern Lands referred to the entire huge region in the north. It could be divided into four parts: the northern human countries in the south of the area, the Jorgol Mountains and the Dark Forest which were in the middle, and finally, the vast Great Northern Plains towards the north.

The Great Northern Plains was the famed wilderness of the continent and was even larger than the Jorgol Mountains and the Dark Forest combined, taking up almost half of the entire Northern Lands.

With such a vast area, there were many races living on the plains. Barbarians, orcs, minotaurs, boars, centaurs, gnolls, goblins, and other races lived and fought on this land.

Since ancient times, the flames of war on the plains had never subsided.

Now, with the human forces representing the Merchant Guild interfering, the situation in the plains became more and more uncertain.

The hidden dangers of the Great Northern Plains were very threatening. For the time being, Jose had no intention nor ability to participate.

In order to avoid encountering other supernatural creatures, the two dragons found a tall mountain in the Modo Peak Forest and rested.

The next day, Jose was woken up abruptly.

He poked his head out from behind the mountain rocks and gazed at the distant plains where a pursuit was taking place.

The pursuers were centaurs, about ten of them. The hunted party was a single kobold.

Centaurs, as the name suggested, had the upper body of a man and the lower body of a horse. They were a common indigenous race on the plains and were good at running and shooting. Their powerful mobility, backed by a powerful archery talent, made centaurs move around like the wind.

Taking advantage of their superior racial abilities, the centaurs started a business of burning and plundering on the grassland, becoming the nightmare of many races.

Jose was puzzled. Why would the centaurs hunt the kobold?

Centaurs were bandits who came and went like the wind. Even more, the kobolds mostly dwelled in caves. Their race specialized in mining, and they often resided in winding and narrow mines. The tall centaurs could not burrow into the low mines, so logically speaking, both sides should be minding their own business.

Although he was puzzled, this scene was acting out right in front of him. He did not hesitate and continued to observe the battle.

The centaurs pursued the kobold relentlessly as it ran at full speed toward the Modor Peak Forest.

This was undoubtedly a smart choice. There were many obstacles in the forest, and the mobility of the centaurs would be limited.

Unfortunately, in terms of running speed, the two-legged kobold was no match for the four-legged centaur. Before long, he would be caught by the large number of centaurs, and the outcome would be obvious.

Jose decided to save the kobold.

The kobolds were underground creatures who were good at mining. They probably knew much about mines, which were the ideal residence of the Red Dragons. Moreover, the genes of lesser dragonkin such as the kobolds were engraved with worship for True Dragons. They were weak and easy to control, so they were suitable to be the servants of an underage dragon.

Although he had made the decision to save the kobold, he did not act immediately.

Saving someone from the brink of death was better than prematurely saving them if one wanted to receive their gratitude.

Roar!

The centaurs caught up with the kobold and were about to close the encirclement when Jose stepped out of his hiding place and roared.

“Cassie! Let’s attack together!” As he spoke, he flapped his wings and soared into the sky, gliding towards the battlefield.

The wings cut through the air horizontally, with the wind whistling past his ears. He stared at the panicked centaurs in the distance as dragon breath accumulated in his throat.

“Dragon!”

The centaurs screamed and fled in all directions, raising a trail of dust on the grassland.

Dragons existed in the legends of various intelligent races. No matter what color a dragon was, whether it was kind or evil, they all had a common characteristic. They were powerful, far beyond the capabilities of ordinary people.

Seeing the two dragons flying towards them, the panic in the centaurs’ hearts was immense. They could only despair at the fact that they did not have more legs to run quicker.

But if escaping them was easy, evil dragons would not live up to their reputation.

In less than a minute, Jose had covered a distance of more than a thousand meters. He caught up with the fleeing centaurs, and the cone-shaped dragon breath descended from the sky, turning the bandits who were galloping across the plains into burning corpses.

It was the same as how a child could use a magnifying glass to burn ants to death. The weak and powerless centaurs fell one after another.

Before long, there was only one centaur left.

Jose stopped breathing fire and chased the fleeing centaur with one flap of his wings.

The dragon wings flapped wildly, causing the centaur to break out in a cold sweat. The ferocious prairie bandit was in despair under the shadow of the dragon, and its ferocity erupted at last. In a bout of desperation, it turned around and drew its bow.

However, the bow and arrow that the centaur was proud of was a joke in front of a dragon. When the arrow hit the hard dragon scales, it did not even leave a mark. Seeing the broken arrow, the centaur almost lost the courage to run.

A dragon claw descended from the sky and grabbed the ashen-faced centaur into the sky. Jose brought his prey back and threw him down from a height of about six floors to the shocked kobold.

Bang!

The centaur smashed into the grass, blood pouring out as the body twitched.

Jose retracted his wings 10 meters above the ground and descended along with the pull of gravity. With a loud bang, the nine-meter-long giant body landed on the ground. The steel-like dragon claws slammed into the twitching centaur, ending its sinful life completely. Bright red blood flowed from under the dragon claws, soaking into the soil and gathering in a tiny puddle.

Of course, Jose was not a pervert who liked killing. The reason why he captured the centaur and executed him in such a shocking manner was to display his power to intimidate the kobold into submission.

However, something went wrong with the plan. The kobold did not respond.

“Why isn’t he bowing and kowtowing? Could it be that I did something wrong?”

He looked down at the kobold gloomily. White smoke came out of his nostrils and landed on the kobold’s head.

After the external stimulation, the kobold slowly raised his head like a machine. His gaze fell on the dragon’s belly, which was covered with dense scales, onto the long and slender neck, and finally fixed on the mighty and domineering dragon head. The crown-like dragon horns deeply shook his heart.

Seeing the gaping mouth and shocked eyes of the kobold, Jose realized that it wasn’t his appearance that was wrong. The kobold was just too shocked to react.

Thump!

Upon realizing the situation, the kobold’s knees buckled, and he knelt on the ground.
