Rebirth: An Assassin’s Revenge - Chapter 6

After leaving the Brooke residence, Luna took in a deep breath. She couldn’t believe that the original could live there after so many years.

After Alexander had the seat belt on, he turned and looked at Luna who seemed to be having a headache. He said. “If you’re not feeling well, rest. I’ll wake you up when we’re there.”

Luna shook her head and said, “I’m fine. Thanks… for just now!”

While Alexander looked like someone that was cold, he did warm her heart for a bit.

“Half of Eve’s paintings were copied from other painters from other countries. Since they aren’t that famous, she copied their paintings pretty happily,” Luna said as she kept her eyes closed, searching through the original’s memories. “Right. I heard that the sponsor that Eve signed up with is a millionaire. A social climber. He seems to like Eve a lot.”

Alexander smiled. “And? You’re hoping that I’d do something? I never said that I was going to help you.”

Luna then turned and stared at Alexander’s face from the side. She said, “What if I told you that Master Gideon would be there?”

Other than the paintings on exhibition, the incredible paintings of three deceased painters would be auctioned off.

Other than some cultured businessmen, other famous individuals would also appear.

One of them was Master Gideon, whom Alexander wanted to work with.

The reason that Master Gideon would appear there was because of one of the paintings.

That was a good opportunity so she believed that Alexander would seize it.

Alexander pressed his lips, remaining silent.

The girl seemed to be smarter than he had first thought. She was not some mentally ill woman like others had said. Interesting!

Once they were back in the mansion, Luna wanted to return to her room. Alexander suddenly looked at her and said, “Give me your phone.”

She was slightly stunned but passed her phone to him.

Alexander wanted to ask her to unlock it but noticed that she hadn’t set a password.

He quickly entered two rows of numbers, and then took a black card out from his pocket and said, “The card has a monthly limit of ten million. Go and buy whatever you need!”

Luna took the card and the phone, and then looked at him with a complicated feeling.

Alexander merely smiled and walked up the stairs. “No need to feel touched. You’re my wife now. If you underdress, it’s the White family’s reputation that’s going to get damaged.”

He had asked someone to check Luna’s finances. She had nothing at this time.

The one billion that her mother had left her would only be hers after she gave birth to her first child.

Once she was back in her room and behind the closed door, she muttered to herself. “If I knew that it’s so easy to get rich, why the hell did I become an assassin?”

The next morning, Alexander had already left the mansion by the time she woke up.

Mrs. Niles had already prepared her breakfast. When Luna appeared, she could see the nervousness in her eyes. “Good morning, Ms. Brooke!”

The original had seen plenty. Everyone treated her like a woman that would become hysterical in an instant.

She sighed. No wonder the original was willing to obey Eve and her younger brother as well as Clarence.

Too many people treated her that way. She had to find something to comfort herself.

“There’s no need for that. I’m used to doing all of this,” Her voice was very soft. It was like a bubbling stream in spring, soothing to the ears.

“Ah, right! Of course,” Mrs. Niles then gave the bread in her hand to her as she looked at the young woman whose reputation had already been ruined.

Her skin was very pale, but her delicate facial features made her look both innocent and charming at the same time. She was very beautiful.

Even when she was spreading the jam, the way she moved her fingers was quite graceful.

How could a young woman like this have any mental illnesses? What a shame.

Mrs. Niles shook her head and walked away.

After she had finished her breakfast and just wanted to go back and organize her things, the phone on her desk suddenly rang.

She looked at the number, and the image of a young woman being pushed down a flight of stairs appeared in her mind.

And someone had broken something, and the glass all over the floor had scarred the young woman’s feet.

There were screams and cries of pain. She could have pulled that young woman, but she was blocked by Emmett Brooke, who was in front of her.

After she hung up the call, Luna couldn’t help but shake her head. She took out the key for the Maserati and drove towards a coffee shop.

Not only did the original’s weakness and foolishness hurt herself, but she had also hurt those that had treated her with sincerity.

“It’s good that you’re finally awake. I told you many times already but you’ve never listened!” Melody Seawine said with relief. “You’re finally aware of who they really are.”

She was the original’s only friend. Her family and the Brookes were considered to be long-time acquaintances, and they were mainly focused on the jewelry business.

Both of them grew up together. Unlike the original who could be quite foolish, Melody had always reminded her about it.

Unfortunately, the original was hiding in her own shell and refused to listen to all other voices outside of that world of hers.

In the end, not only did she end up dead, even Melody, who had been dancing for the past ten years, had almost ended up crippled.

“I must have been blind. If not, I wouldn’t have treated them as good as I did,” Luna pressed her lips as she realized that Melody bore no resentment against her at all. “Don’t worry. I won’t let them hurt you again. I’ll make them pay for whatever they did to you.”

“It’s fine. It’s all over. My injuries are worth it if it makes you see who they really are.” Melody then asked her with hesitation. “Luna, are you still eating those meds?”

She felt that Luna was mentally fine. While she had been saddened by her mother’s passing, she didn’t believe that it would make her become mentally deranged at all.

“No,” Luna lowered her head as she stirred the coffee in the cup. Her voice was calm and warm, “I’m not sick. Why should I take any meds when I’m healthy?”

Melody realized that Luna had really changed. She could finally bury the worry in her heart. “Good, don’t eat them anymore. Alexander White, is he treating you well?”

When Luna heard her bringing up Alexander, the hand that she was stirring the coffee stopped as she replied, “He’s treating me well.”

At least, for the time being.

“Now that you’re with Alexander, they can’t hurt you anymore!” Melody said happily. She was truly happy that she had found someone that could protect her.

Luna suddenly smiled. “I like it better when I’m independent. Come on, let’s go see a good show.”

“Huh? Where?” Melody asked in confusion as she was brought to her car. “I don’t think there were any good movies released recently!”

Luna pulled her seat belt and she looked at Melody’s legs that were still covered with bandages. Cruelty flashed through her eyes as she said, “We’re going to Golden Paradise.”

The Golden Paradise clubhouse was one of the five biggest clubhouses in the city. Not only do they cater to all kinds of entertainment needs, but they also provide some of their gambling patrons with some capital.

Eve and Emmett Brooke, as well as Clarence Oak, were all members of the clubhouse. They would stay there when they didn’t go home.

Normally, the original would pay for them.

At this time, Emmett should still be there..
