Luna followed Willow into the kitchen to help, but she stopped her at the final moment and said, “If you can accompany me here, that’s already helping me! How can I really let you help me when it’s your first time here?”

“It’s fine,” Luna washed her hands and then expertly began to go through the vegetables at the side. “I did a lot of these in the past.”

While she was referring to her past life, Willow thought that it was because Luna hadn’t been well-treated back in the Brooke family. There was pity in her voice when she said, “While Alexander may look cold, he’s a good man. You’ll find happiness.”

Luna nodded with a smile and then switched the topic to something else.

Willow was very sociable and wasn’t afraid of her at all. She kept on trying to cheer her up without being too direct.

She didn’t argue with her. Instead, they kept on chatting as they worked.

Despite having married for six years, the way that Willow moved and spoke still showed some sign of her still being a young, energetic woman.

It was not hard to see that Zane protected Willow very well. He loved her very much.

Luna thought to herself, if someone loved her like Zane loved Willow, that would be pure bliss!

“Ah! Oh no!” Willow suddenly cried out. “I added the wrong things! Oh no, no!”

Luna walked over and realized that Willow had added the wrong type of spice into the dish. “Are you making prawn, asparagus, and lemon stir fry?”

Willow was slightly surprised and nodded, “Yes! You know this dish?

Luna nodded and said, “Sort of! Let me do it, it’s going to be fine.”

Willow moved away and looked as Luna expertly stir-fried the vegetables and added two more other spices.

She could easily tell that Luna really knew how to cook from the way she moved her arm and wrist.

When she saw the color of the prawn was almost right, she drizzled some olive oil into it.

After a short while, the fragrance of the dish began to spread. Willow looked at it excitedly, saying, “It smells so good, Luna!”

Luna smiled and said, “Can you pass me a plate? It’s ready.”

Willow nodded and immediately passed a plate to Luna.

It was the final dish. Willow brought it to the table while Luna walked over to them after she removed the apron.

“Mom, this one is made by Luna!” Before Luna could even say anything, Willow had already spoken on her behalf, “Alexander, you’re so lucky!”

Alexander gave Luna a glance.

‘She knows how to cook? Why didn’t she cook for me at home?’

“Willow was the one that did most of the cooking! I just helped a bit,” When Luna saw Alexander began to frown, she quickly said something to save herself.

She didn’t know why but she felt like he was getting upset because of her.

“Sit down, Luna!” Jade then raised her hand at the butler and said, “Go and tell my husband to come down! Everyone’s here except him.”

The butler acknowledged it and went up to the next floor.

After about five minutes, Gerald White came down from the stairs.

Alexander had truly inherited the good features of both his parents, Gerald and Jade.

Even when he was already at this age, she could still see how handsome he would have been when he was younger.

“Dad!”

“Dad!”

“Dad!”

“Sir!”

“Grandpa, I want a hug~!”

“Alright, sit down everyone!” Gerald glanced at Luna, but she could feel no warmth behind those eyes. “It’s very rare for you to come back, so let’s have our meal first!”

Luna was quietly worried. It seemed that they were not going to eat in peace.

Alexander seemed to have caught her feeling of unease and grabbed her hand under the table.

Luna turned and looked at him, and she began to really feel somewhat at peace.

“Is the food to your liking?” Jade asked Luna. “Don’t feel shy. Now that you’re here, just treat this as your home.”

For someone that had lived until this age, she had seen plenty of people. Luna was not as bad as the others made it sound.

At least in the two hours she was here, she didn’t do anything that would be considered out of the ordinary. Instead, she was very polite no matter who she was speaking to.

Jade couldn’t help but begin to wonder if the rumors were really true.

Luna nodded and said, “Thanks, ma’am!”

After this, no one was speaking over the table.

The sudden silence made it quite awkward.

Alexander faked a cough and looked at Gerald and asked, “Dad, how are you? Are you still getting any headaches?”

Gerald merely gave Alexander a look and said, “If you had married earlier, my headache would have been gone a long time ago.”

Alexander seemed to have been choked by his father’s words. He only replied to his father after a moment of silence, “Once I’m done with all my work, I’m going to go and get our marriage certified.”

Luna didn’t know if he was being serious or simply humoring his father.

Suddenly, she could feel Gerald’s eyes on her, as if he wanted to see through her. He asked, “Is that what Ms. Brooke is considering as well?”

Everybody knew that Luna Brooke’s birth mother had left her a huge inheritance, but she would only have access to it once she married and had children.

‘This Luna at first broke off her engagement with Clarence Oak, and then hooked up with my son.

‘Putting the matter of whether she’s sick aside, who knows what kind of schemes she’s plotting.’

He would not allow his son to marry a woman who might have some other thoughts.

Luna put down her fork and took a deep breath. “Of course. Alexander and I both agreed to this.”

In the end, she couldn’t avoid it.

If that were the case, she might as well face it head-on.

Gerald looked at Luna and said, “Even if that Oak boy betrayed you first, I still heard you and he had been together for several years. Can you really put everything aside?”

Luna was still young. He couldn’t believe that she would be able to cut out all her past and feelings.

Especially when youths could easily lose themselves in the so-called “love”.

He had no interest in seeing his son becoming a sacrificial lamb in someone else’s game of love.

But when being asked this question, Luna could answer in full confidence. “Please don’t worry, sir. I will never turn back. The Luna of the past is dead. I will never allow myself to stumble and fall at the same place twice!”

Her eyes were like fire, and there was no fear even when she was staring back at Gerald.

‘Are you kidding me? Even if the original was alive she wouldn’t stay for some garbage like Clarence Oak!’

If she still had feelings for him, then where did the burning anger in her heart come from?

“I hope that you can do what you say, Ms. Brooke,” Gerald raised his cup and gave it a sip. “If not, there will be no place for you in Auburn anymore!”

At the end of the day, he was still Alexander’s father. He didn’t want to see his son getting hurt.

While his words were simple, everyone was quite shocked at the powerful meaning behind those words.

It seemed that Gerald White didn’t have a good impression of her.

She could understand why, however. After everything that had happened and the position that she was in, anyone putting half a thought into it would know how precarious her position was.

Luna merely smiled, but her smile was confident. She said firmly, “Don’t worry, sir. No matter what happens, I will not put Alexander in harm’s way!”

This is her promise for the White family, and also her promise for Alexander.

After all, he had really given her a lot of help during these days..
