Rakish Prince’s Courtship - Chapter 54

“What’s wrong? You can’t give us the money?” The young master sneered cruelly at the old man.

The old man’s face wrinkled in anguish. He said, “Young Master Zhao, please show some mercy. My granddaughter and I couldn’t even get 50 taels if we sold ourselves.”

“You don’t have it? Hehe.” Young Master Zhao’s big hand reached for the little girl’s face. He said, “This girl looks pretty good. Soft and delicate. She’ll be a knockout in a few years. How about you give me the girl as compensation? Since you’re so poor, we will suffer a little bit of a loss and call it a day.”

Not only was Young Master Zhao trying to take advantage of the old man, but he also kept stressing how lenient and merciful he was.

Su Luo’s eyes glittered coldly. Judging from the reaction of the old man and the other bystanders, she presumed this Young Master Zhao was a local bully with a powerful family.

Su Luo knitted her eyebrows. However, she didn’t plan on helping out just yet.

Suddenly, a girly shout came from the corner of the lobby.

“You shameless b*stards only know how to bully the small and weak and snatch girls from ordinary families. How atrocious!” Just as the voice faded, a skinny figure stood out — the young girl held a rapier that gleamed menacingly.

The girl was about 15 or 16 years old. She wore a light green shirt and a pink pleated skirt. She looked cute.

Her small face was creamy and soft with a pink complexion and a little bit of baby fat still on her cheeks.

Half a dozen boys and girls about the same age sat around the table behind her. They looked like Academy students who were out on a practice trip.

Su Luo found the girl who stood up somewhat familiar. Her last name was probably Liu.

She remembered that this girl had been good friends with Su Xi and used to push Su Luo around with her.

Su Luo watched, resting her chin in her hand, anticipating the drama unfolding downstairs. She didn’t expect Miss Liu, who shared Su Xi’s personality, to act like a brave savior here.

What on earth… was this about?

Young Master Zhao caressed his chin and sized up the girl in front of him, fascinated. “Wow, pretty babe, are you throwing yourself at me?” he said.

“Shameless!” Miss Liu struck at him with her long rapier.

Miss Liu waved her sword vigorously, using all her might. The sword glittered coldly.

Young Master Zhao’s initially playful face stiffened quickly and turned solemn. It was hard to tell who out of the two would come out on top in a fight.

Despite the rowdy scene downstairs, Nangong Liuyun’s eyes remained focused on Su Luo the whole time. He said to her with a smile, “You see, now she has stolen the thunder.”

He poked fun at Su Luo, as he had noticed the sympathetic expression she directed toward the old man and his granddaughter.

“Nangong Liuyun, do you consider me an idiot?” Su Luo rolled her eyes at him in frustration, feeling vexed.

“What do you mean?” Nangong Liuyun gazed at Su Luo, his eyes as bright as diamonds.

“That Young Master Zhao is apparently some local bully. Miss Liu over there might be able to save them once. But will she be able to save them again and again in the future? Young Master Zhao will probably bring people here and trash the restaurant right after she leaves. She is doing more harm than good,” Su Luo said.

Su Luo’s eyes sparkled, and she wore an indifferent expression.

She paused for a moment and continued to say with a mocking smile, “On top of that, based on her current performance, she would be lucky if she doesn’t bring them more trouble.”

Nangong Liuyun looked at Su Luo, smiling. A trace of admiration flashed across his face.

Su Luo certainly didn’t know how radiant and glamorous she looked when she spoke with ease.

Moreover, only someone as smart as she was would consider every aspect when extending a helping hand in order to solve their problems without bringing more trouble.
