Raising a Giant Dragon in a Small Remote City! - Chapter 26

A week had passed since the dragon’s roar. The people from the other two great nations of the Auland continent who were stationed near this undeveloped land quickly sent news around of what they had heard.

After receiving the news, the nearby kingdoms had decided to act. They sent their elite troops to this undeveloped land to search for the dragon.

It was May and they had entered an early summer. The weather was gradually getting hotter.

The magic rice in the farmland was already green. A few hundred acres of farmland was enough to feed a thousand people in the village over the year.

In addition, a batch of magic turkeys and other poultry in the breeding farm had matured, and they were already being sold around the village.

Seeing that Puba Village was thriving, Joshua felt a great sense of achievement!

Alger even used magic iron in the workshop to create a life-sized statue of Joshua and placed it in the middle of the square.

So much so that every time Joshua walked to the square, he would feel embarrassed!

After all, the village that had just been built was only about 1,500 people in size. It was not a large town.

After completing his daily inspection of the village, Joshua came to the public office.

He peeked his head around to look at the situation inside.

“Oh! Village Chief, why do you have time to come to the public office today? Do you have some things to get done?”

Joshua waved his hand at the public servants and said, “I just came to take a look! Where is Chief Mortimer now?”

“Chief Mortimer is on his day off today. He seems to have gone fishing somewhere!”

“In that case! You guys can continue with your work. I won’t disturb you.”

After leaving the public office, Josh went straight to Alger’s workshop.

Recently, he had basically finished all the things he had to do, so Joshua decided to teach him some new blueprints.

These were all secondary matters. The most important thing was to prepare to discuss with Alger his future plans and form a village research team.

Because Alger had his own workshop, Joshua was very hesitant on his way there.

The workshop was very free today. Alger was giving a lecture to the new students who had joined the workshop.

Joshua could clearly hear Alger’s loud voice from outside the door. After knowing what he was doing, Joshua waited at the door for a short while.

It didn’t take long for the workshop class to end and it became quiet.

Seeing Village Chief Joshua walking over, Alger immediately gave him a warm hug.

“Village chief Joshua! Long time no see, is there anything interesting again? Hurry up and bring it over for me to see!”

Joshua immediately waved his hand and said, “Let’s talk in a quiet place!”

After entering the room, Joshua voiced out his thoughts.

Once Alger heard them, he was silent for a while before he reacted.

“You mean to build a very secretive research team? So what about the candidate to manage this team? You can’t make me choose this person!”

Seeing Alger’s serious face, Joshua almost laughed out loud.

“I said I wanted you to lead the team, not be the one to choose their leader for them. This is too big of a misunderstanding! I’m letting you be the chief of the Secret Research Institute! It’ll be your responsibility to choose your researchers wisely.”

After hearing Josh’s words, Alger finally reacted!

“You’re making me chief? I don’t think that’s a wise decision. My words and actions are simply not qualified for this position!”

Joshua patted Alger’s shoulder and explained, “You’re only in charge of research and development. I’ll leave the rest to your good friend, Georgi. You can just leave those troublesome matters to him!”

“That’s great! I guess we’re in agreement then. Give me some time and I’ll select some people with good qualifications to go with me to build the Research Institute!”

As expected, Alger was a sensible person. He quickly understood all of Joshua’s intentions.

“It’ll be hard on you from now on! I won’t bother you today. You must come to my house to drink wine some other day.”

Looking at Joshua who was far away, Alger waved his hand and said, “Of course, your food is the best here!”

After leaving Alger’s workshop, Joshua was ready to add some new municipal facilities to the village.

Just one public office was not enough to deal with the flow of people. He had to separate the work from the labor.

Then there was the construction department, the municipal administration, and finally, the village’s defense system. All of these had to be separated.

Otherwise, when things became chaotic, all these matters would be handled in the public office. It would be very crowded.

After he distributed the work, Joshua needed to allocate people to handle the jobs. After all, these things could not be managed without a suitable person to lead!

At present, he still had a lot of talented people in his hands, which were the nine chiefs of the demi-human races present within the village.

Minotaurs, gnomes, and dwarven chiefs were now in charge of all the village’s basic infrastructure.

The orc chief was in charge of all farming matters.

The pygmy chief was currently in charge of the farm. Initially, he thought that the pygmy people would be very resistant to raising pigs. However, he did not expect them to have the habit of raising pigs in captivity.

According to what they said, ‘creatures without intelligence are completely different races from them!’

The dark elves’ chief was currently in charge of the entire village’s safety. All the patrols and guards were under his control.

As for Georgi, he was considered the strongest in the village because of his dual magic and martial arts training!

Currently, only the elven chief was free. He had nothing to do and had no position to hold.

When the elves in the village saw Joshua, all of them politely stopped what they were doing and greeted him with great enthusiasm.

“Do you know where Chief Julius is now?”

Hearing what Joshua said, everyone pointed at the house in the middle of the village.

They came to the small wooden house.

Julius warmly received Joshua and gave him a cup of tea made from the essence of the forest.

“Chief Joshua, how come you have time to look for me today?”

After taking a sip of the tea, Joshua instantly felt comfortable and the magic power in his body immediately surged.

“Wow, this is really good tea. Can you tell me how to make this tea?”

Julius smiled and said, “My Malina knows how to make it. You can go back and ask her to make some for you!”

Because he was usually busy with official business, Joshua had no time to ask about such things and felt a little awkward.

Seeing Joshua’s expression, Julius continued to ask in order to avoid this awkwardness, “What business do you have with me today?”

After finding the opportunity, Joshua immediately told him about the expansion of their municipal administration.
