Lu Hualiang descended from the stairs and stood where Xia Weibao had landed. He looked up towards the third floor. The confusion on his face intensified. There was a good seven or eight meters from the third floor and she jumped down just like that?

This woman is truly unbelievable!

He turned around to head back up, with instructions for others to check up on Xia Weibao.

Xia Weibao had been squatting in the backyard with a whole bunch of mosquitoes.

Although Lu Hualiang lived in a luxurious mansion and the surroundings were immaculate, there were still many mosquitoes around due to the drains.

Why did she choose to hide in a ditch?

Because she was afraid.

It was not until ten o’clock at night that Xia Weibao furtively climbed out of the ditch.

It’s so late. They should all be asleep, right?

As sneakily as a thief, she stealthily sneaked in through the window. Seeing that the lights were switched off in the hall, Xia Weibao breathed a sigh of relief.

She then headed to the kitchen. She was starving.

She had neither eaten lunch nor dinner. Worse still, she had been feeding the mosquitoes all night. She was on the verge of collapsing.

She did not dare to wake the maids. After all, she was not wearing any underwear.

Although she had been spoiled and carefree in the palace, she had travelled the world before entering the palace, and so she was no spoilt brat. Making a meal was nothing.

Yet, when she saw those high-tech kitchen equipment, she was stunned.

Have you seen an electronic rice cooker, or a microwave, or an oven, or a refrigerator? All these are very advanced products. Have you seen them before?

The original owner of this body was an idiot in the kitchen! The kind that had never made a meal in her whole life!

After a moment of confusion, the empress flung her hair back disgruntledly.

Things are dead, but people are alive. There was no way she was going to starve!

It did not matter that she did not know how to use the appliances. She would just use the most primitive way to cook!

Lu Hualiang finished his video conference and looked at the time. It was already 10 o’clock, but Xia Weibao had not returned. He did not take it too seriously. Xia Weibao was a grown up. She could not possibly get lost.

So he removed his clothes and went to take a shower. Halfway through his shower, there was a sudden click. And then, everything went dark.

Lu Hualiang: “…”

Who switched off the mains switch?

He did not know why, but the first person he thought of was Xia Weibao…

This woman was not normal at all. She was crazy.

Throwing on his bathrobe, he went downstairs, only to see fire coming from the kitchen. He walked in, and the smoke was so incredibly thick that the fumes made it hard for him to catch his breath.

Taking out his mobile phone, he switched on the flashlight.

When he saw the situation clearly, Lu Hualiang almost wanted to strangle the culprit to death.

“Xia Weibao, what are you doing?”

“Cough, cough…”

Xia Weibao held a few pieces of paper to fan the fire, coughing at the same time.

“I am… cooking noodles.”

Lu Hualiang’s eyes twitched. Cooking noodles?

He had never seen anyone use a rice cooker on the gas stove!

And to burn it with wood…

The wires had all been burnt by her. How could the power not go off?

Lu Hualiang gritted his teeth. “Why didn’t you get electrocuted?”

Xia Weibao wiped her face, successfully leaving a black streak on her face.

She had only been in this unfamiliar world for two days. She was still unfamiliar with how to use electricity. How would she know that she had to unplug the wires from this thing?

Lu Hualiang was so angry he felt as though he was going to have a heart attack.

He suddenly felt something was wrong. “Where did you get the paper to light the fire?”

His gaze sunk, and he snatched the pieces of paper from Xia Weibao’s hands. Using the flashlight on his mobile phone, he looked at the pieces of paper. Lu Hualiang almost vomited blood.

This was the contract that he had brought back from his business trip. It was worth more than a billion dollars!

“Xia Weibao! How dare you burn my contract?!”

Xia Weibao was stunned and shrunk back. “I found it in the living room…”

In her heart, she murmured to herself. If it was so important, you should properly put it away. Why put it in such a conspicuous location?

Besides, that was just a contract. She had even burned the emperor’s imperial study before!

Burning imperial memorials was normal. The emperor had never berated her.

Lu Hualiang resisted the impulse to strangle her. It was a mistake to marry her!

Just as he was about to erupt in anger, he smelled a unique fragrance.

What was the smell?

His gaze shifted to the burning piece of wood. Wasn’t that the top-grade incense that he had just had flown in today?

“Xia. Wei. Bao.”

One word at a time, he called out her name through gritted teeth.

CEO Lu’s endurance was entirely exhausted.

Xia Weibao did not know when to stop. “In the past, you always gave me incense to keep me warm during the winters.”

In the palace, the emperor spoiled and pampered her. Let alone incense, she had even used thousand-year-old lingzhi mushrooms for heating!

“Sir, sir. What happened?”

At this moment, the caretaker hurried over with the security officer.

Shining the torch light inside, they were momentarily stunned.

There has been a fire?

Lu Hualiang wanted to give the order to lock Xia Weibao up. This woman was a lunatic. Whatever she said or did was crazy. She had to be locked up.

Yet, before he could open his mouth, a pungent smell wafted into his nostrils.

Lu Hualiang’s expression changed. Turning around, he saw the gas leaking.

The smell of incense was too strong earlier and thus, covered the smell of gas. A gas leak with a fire beside it…

“Hurry! Let’s all get out!”

Everyone quickly ran out. Lu Hualiang had walked no more than two steps before realising that Xia Weibao had twisted her ankle at this critical moment.

He gritted his teeth angrily as he rushed towards her and grabbed her arm.

“You still don’t want to leave? Are you waiting to die here?”

Before he could finish his sentence, there was a loud explosion.

“Emperor!”

Xia Weibao cried out. She instinctively hugged Lu Hualiang, turned over, and used her own back to block the flames.

Xia Weibao’s actions surprised Lu Hualiang. His entire body was numb. When he came back to his senses, he wanted to protect Xia Weibao instead.

He did not need a woman to shield him!

But it was too late.

The explosion was over in a flash and it threw both of them out of the window.

Feeling the person in his arms suddenly soften, Lu Hualiang’s heart suddenly tightened. Hugging her, he crashed onto the ground.

Xia Weibao had already fainted in a pool of blood.

Looking at the pale woman in his arms, Lu Hualiang’s expression changed. Panic swept through his heart.

He carried her in his arms and rushed to the garage.

“Uncle Fu, drive quickly!”

Uncle Fu hurried over to see Lu Hualiang carrying a person drenched in blood.

This frightened Uncle Fu so much that he nervously dug out a bottle of medicine for shock, before running to start the car.

In the hospital corridor in the middle of the night, Lu Hualiang sat on the bench, staring at the door of the emergency room.

Xia Weibao had already been undergoing surgery for almost an hour, but he had still not recovered from the shock.

Human nature was always selfish. Growing up, he had seen too many false pretences. No matter how one’s feelings were, in the face of death, one would always subconsciously protect oneself before anyone else.

But just now, at the brink of death, the person that Xia Weibao had protected was him!

The waves in his heart were unable to calm down. What made such a vulnerable woman so willing to give up on herself for him?

Just a few hours ago they were fighting. And now, they were trying to save each other. Was this a new trick?

If it was just to get into his good books, then this woman was really frightening.

Just the thought of Xia Weibao’s actions having a purpose behind them made Lu Hualiang fretful.

Yang Su hurried down and saw Lu Hualiang covered in blood.

His hair and clothes were disheveled and he looked rather down.

Yang Su was a little surprised. Was this man his master?

There was once a famous lady who wanted to use her beauty to charm Lu Hualiang. But she touched the corner of Lu Hualiang’s shirt ever so slightly. And that was the end of her and her entire family, for Boss Lu destroyed them all.

From then on, Lu Hualiang’s obsession with cleanliness evoked fear amongst people. No one dared to even step on this minefield ever again.

But today, he was dressed in clothes soaked with blood and he did not even bother to get changed?

Had the world ended?

“Master, are you all right?” Yang Su hurried forward. Now, the most important thing was that he was fine.

After hearing Uncle Fu retell the whole story, he was almost frightened to death. Why would a gas stove just suddenly explode out of the blue?

Lu Hualiang was fidgety listening to Yang Su’s nagging. His deep stare was frightening.

Yang Su shut up at that moment. Then, looking at the door of the operating theatre, Assistant Yang was a little worried. “I hope Madam will be fine. How could the explosion be so serious?”

Lu Hualiang’s face was dark. What had happened? Wasn’t it just because that woman was crazy? If she didn’t know how to cook, why didn’t she just call the maid?

He looked towards the operation theatre with panic in his eyes.

Xia Weibao, if anything happens to you, I’ll never let you get away with this. He thought.
