NPC Survival Guide - Chapter 7

The crowd began to disperse after the order was instructed and a slim man smiled and went up to 233 and said, “What is the order of the master?”

“You are the cook? You are responsible for everyone’s food? “

233 gave a suspicious glance to the man. The scrawny chef contradicted society’s generalized illustration of chefs.

“Yes.”

“Accompany me to the warehouse.”

It was useless to analyze how to skinny man acquired the position of a chef which he deemed unfit for. After all, the characters of a plot are merely portrayals of the system, not the actual appearance of the people themselves.

The warehouse is actually a cellar since cellars provide a longer shelf life for a lot of objects. 233 scowled upon looking at the food stored in the cellar.

“Master, these grains are enough to last for a week.” The chef was assigned to manage the food, thus, he knew the approximate time of their stay in the parallel world and when it was  convenient for him to distribute food.

233 shook his head and said, “We need at least one month’s food.”

Not long after, the man realized what a terrible mistake it was he did.

These people do not really live in this era. Just a moment ago, they were enjoying the convenience of modern technology in City of Sin. Naturally, they do not know how to store food in this era. Moreover, because only a week’s scene-time was originally set, the system did not give the chef any knowledge concerning the matter.

233 waved his hand in the face of the cook, snapping him out of his trance, “Do we have treasures or something that can be sold for money?”

The cook shook his head again blankly, not understanding what 233 meant.

233 sighed and realized how stupid the question was. There were no such things in the plot. The natural system would not prepare beforehand their necessities for them. Even though they have robbed merchants according to the plot, it wasn’t really enacted. They literally have nothing.

The plot was delayed due to the relationship between Wei Batian and 233. According to the calculation of the plot development speed in the outline, it would take a month for Linglong, the heroine, to arrive in 233’s quarters. As a result, the food originally planned to last a week would not be enough. If 233 did not care, they would starve to death before the heroine came.

The system is scored on the basis of result theory. If 233 can’t sustain himself and his people throughout the book, it will be a failure. Even worse, if the plot is broken by 233, then 233’s crime will be serious.

Therefore, the most pressing problem for 233 as of now is to sustain everyone until the heroine appears.

The available food would only be enough for a week, and there was nothing in the stronghold that can be exchanged for food. If he wanted to succeed, 233 cannot do whatever he likes. The only way to resolve the situation was through desperate means – they needed to steal.

Highway robbery requires someone to pass by the vicinity, however, the system will not position passers-by in their territory and let 233 rob them. Therefore, waiting for a prey to arrive is impractical – 233 must take the initiative to attack.

The strategy is to find trouble in the nearby villages, which are located everywhere under the current worldview. It is now 233′ s best timing.
