My Third Gentleman - Chapter 51

Mu Jinchen’s hands were alternating between lying flat across his desk and rubbing his forehead. Things got more and more complicated every time this name appeared.

Mu Yuhao, on the other hand, asked the person-in-charge for more details once he hung up. He garnered that it was some sort of acute illness and figured that they might have gone to the nearest hospital. He then asked for the nearest hospital’s address.

At this time, the sky had grown darker and the rain gradually got heavier. Mu Yuhao walked to his car despite the pouring rain. He did not get in immediately but instead raised his head to let the raindrops fall onto his face. He had no better idea to clear his head. He lost control of his emotions earlier.

When Mu Yuhao suddenly appeared in Jing Wushuang’s ward, Wushuang was surprised beyond belief.

“President Mu? Why are you here?”

Mu Yuhao’s large but narrow eyes blinked before he retorted, “What’s the matter? Can’t I be here?”

The nephew looked very much like the uncle. His facial features resembled Mu Jinchen’s, especially his eyes. Both of them had gorgeous eyes, but Mu Jinchen’s eyes were deeper whereas Mu Yuhao’s were brighter.

As she stared at Mu Yuhao, Jing Wushuang unconsciously thought of Mu Jinchen. She spaced out and only snapped back to reality when Mu Yuhao waved his fingers right at her face. “Are you spacing out when talking to me?”

“Sorry. Right. Why are you here?”

“I’ve been searching for you all day. I should be the one asking that.”

“Thank you for your concern, President Mu. It’s nothing, just an old ailment. I’ll be better after some rest,” said Wushuang.

Mu Yuhao observed the surroundings and sneered, “Please save the formalities. The facilities here don’t look too good. Let’s get you transferred back to the hospital in the city.”

“There’s no need. I’m only staying for one night and will be discharged tomorrow.”

“Then would you let me stay to take care of you?”

Wushuang almost bit her tongue. What craziness was this young master trying to pull? She was very clear about her stand on the matter, yet he still searched everywhere for her.

“Mr. Mu, there are people to take care of me. I thank you for your concern, really, but I truly don’t need it. You must be very busy at work; please go back.”

Mu Yuhao was hurt, though it was not because she rejected his feelings. He had defied his uncle just to see her, but she…

“Wushuang, do you have to keep yourself a thousand miles away from me? I genuinely care about you. Can I not care for you as a friend?”

She was two years older than Mu Yuhao. Was it not obvious that he had ulterior motives?

She felt that there was no reason to dilly dally, relationship-wise. There was no gray area in her emotional world nor did she enjoy such a process.

Her crystal clear eyes looked seriously into Mu Yuhao’s eyes and sternly asserted, “President Mu, I think I made it very clear the last time that our relationship is merely that of colleagues. You don’t have to be like this. There are tonnes of projects underway at the company. You should really be getting back to work.”

Mu Yuhao snorted mockingly. “Work, work. You’re just like him. Can’t any of you see that I’ve been working hard? Wushuang, do I not have even the slightest chance?”

‘You are just like him’; Wushuang was surprised by that phrase. Did ‘him’ refer to…

She dismissed it. Their family matters had nothing to do with her.
