My Sweetest Wife, Hubby Is on His Way Home - Chapter 49

If Gu Zhishen had run at his usual speed, he would’ve finished running a lap long ago. Today, he adapted to Yun Jianyue’s speed, so he slowed down. However, Yun Jianyue’s physical strength was much different from what he’d imagined…much worse!

She shouted she was tired within moments, gasped for breath, and couldn’t run anymore. He turned back, ran over, and saw her kneeling by the road like a pitiful thing that had been abandoned by someone.

“Get up and continue!”

Yun Jianyue lifted her head to look up, her face filled with sweat. The sunlight dispersed down through the gaps in the tree leaves. The flickering light made his handsome, bright face look fuzzy. She panted as she waved her hand. “I can’t. I can’t run anymore.”

Gu Zhishen’s breath was steady. He bent at his waist and pulled her up forcefully. “Finish running one lap. Otherwise, you can’t eat breakfast.”

Yun Jianyue wailed in pain. No matter how reluctant, she still needed to stand up and follow him by running behind him.

At this moment, Gu Zhishen’s back kept swaying about in her eyes. He was no better than a devilish coach.

Yun Jianyue’s personality was completely opposite to Yun Siwan’s. Yun Siwan loved to exercise. Since she was young, she’d run around like a boy. She couldn’t stop for even one moment. Yun Xiaotian would often say helplessly that Yun Siwan had ADHD. Yun Jianyue, on the other hand, was quiet. She didn’t like any intense sports such as running or jumping. She liked to sit or lie down. Spacing out or reading a book were both okay. That’s why, from elementary school up till university, she never passed her physical education class. Every time, she would either have to put in all her efforts or Yun Xiaotian would be required to come forward and solve it.

It wasn’t that Chen Xiaoxiao never thought about letting Yun Jianyue work out. However, compared to the active Yun Siwan, Yun Xiaotian obviously loved the younger, quieter daughter. He said there was already a monkey in the house and wouldn’t let Chen Xiaoxiao arrange for a sports coach to run with Yun Jianyue.

She never would’ve thought she could have avoided Chen Xiaoxiao but couldn’t avoid Gu Zhishen. There wasn’t a second Yun Xiaotian to protect her at Jia Yuan. She could only do her best and persist in running.

Unwittingly, Gu Zhishen ran further and further away. He turned back and didn’t see Yun Jianyue, so he stopped where he stood and waited for her for a while.

Five minutes passed, but Yun Jianyue still hadn’t come. Gu Zhishen was somewhat worried, so he turned around and ran back.

He saw Yun Jianyue from far away, and she wasn’t running. She was standing by the road, her body slouched. He didn’t know what had happened.

“Ah Jian, what’s going on?” He slowed and walked over.

Yun Jianyue heard his voice and lifted her head to look at him. Her face was pale and her forehead was sweaty; she was gasping for breath, and she even showed a light smile at the corners of her mouth. “I’m fine. I just suddenly felt nauseous and wanted to throw up. It’s a bit cold…”

Cold?

How could it possibly be cold in this season? Especially when running!

Before Yun Jianyue’s voice even disappeared, she lost consciousness and fell toward the ground.

Gu Zhishen’s eagle eyes suddenly tightened and his last two steps combined into one. With quick eyes and swift hands, he caught her in his embrace and slowly knelt down.

“Ah Jian, Ah Jian…” He called her quietly two times, and there was no response.

Gu Zhishen lifted her up and took big meteor steps back. After walking less than one minute, he was unhappy it was too slow and ran all the way back.

Before he’d even entered the house, he shouted loudly at Zeng Pei, “Quickly notify Bai Changan to come over!”

Zeng Pei didn’t know what happened, but he saw that Yun Jianyue was unconscious. He immediately went to call Bai Changan.

Bai Changan had gone out of town to take care of some matters on Gu Zhishen’s behalf. He’d only just arrived at midnight and coincidentally lived a ten-minute drive from Jia Yuan.

Yun Jianyue had woken up five minutes after Gu Zhishen had carried her into the house. She was drenched in sweat and still heavily gasping for breath as if she were about to die.

She was lying down. Gu Zhishen pulled down the zipper on her clothes and helped her to sit up. His big, warm palm kept lightly patting her back.

“How do you feel?”

Yun Jianyue felt somewhat better. She looked at him with a perplexed face. “What happened to me?”

“You fainted while running.” Gu Zhishen used a towel to lightly wipe her sweaty face. “Do you feel uncomfortable? Second will be here in a moment. Let him take a look at you!”

Fainted?

Yun Jianyue took a breath. After thinking for a while, she seemed to remember what had happened.

He saw she was much better and her face wasn’t so frighteningly pale. He gave her the warm water that Zeng Pei had prepared.

Yun Jianyue drank two sips and didn’t want any more.

Just as Gu Zhishen set down the cup, Bai Changan’s voice sounded before he even arrived. “Elder Brother, I say, even if you have no humanity, you should have some decency, right? I was sent to the frontier and came back after great difficulty. I hadn’t even warmed up my bed, and I was called urgently over. Aren’t you worried I might overwork and die from fatigue?”

Gu Zhishen turned his head and saw Bai Changan running over, wearing pajamas. His eyebrows raised. “Everyone else might die from fatigue and only you won’t! Quickly, come and take a look at Ah Jian. She fainted when she was running.”

Bai Changan’s eyes lit up the moment he saw Yun Jianyue, and he smiled very ambiguously.

“Sister-in-law is also present! The two of you had a morning run together…already starting the shameless life of premarital cohabitation?”

Yun Jianyue’s cheeks turned red from Bai Changan’s teasing and denied, “No, I only just…”

Before she even finished speaking, Gu Zhishen got up and stepped away. He kicked toward Bai Changan’s lap and said with a warning tone, “Be more serious!”

How were he and Ah Jian living together before marriage? They were living together completely legally!

Bai Changan knew he was anxious and worried about Yun Jianyue. He didn’t mess about anymore. He put down the medical kit and took out a stethoscope to listen to Yun Jianyue’s heart. He checked her pupils and looked at her tongue. He even did the thing he was the least good at and took her pulse.

“There are no major problems. The main problem was doing intense exercise suddenly. Sister-in-law may have low blood sugar as well!” Bai Changan threw the things to Zeng Pei to put away. His gaze turned to Gu Zhishen, “Eldest Brother, you need to take it easy with sister-in-law’s body. She already worked hard at night, running in the early morning is…”

Before he finished speaking, Gu Zhishen gave him a cold stare. “Shut your mouth!”

Bai Changan had too many vulgar words. Gu Zhishen had gotten used to it long ago after listening to it for so many years. However, Ah Jian wasn’t the same. He didn’t want Bai Changan to lead Ah Jian astray.

Embarrassed, Bai Changan touched his nose, smiled, and didn’t say anything.

“Can she eat something now?” Gu Zhishen asked.

“It basically isn’t a big issue after she’s rested for a while! In the future, take care not to suddenly do intense exercises. Even if you want to do intense exercise, you still need to do it step by step!”

He emphasized the two words “intense exercise” really heavily.

Gu Zhishen stingily didn’t give him even one glance and ordered Zeng Pei to go prepare breakfast.

Bai Changan immediately added, “Zeng Pei, I want to eat the black pepper steak you personally make!”

“If you want to have steak, go home and eat it!” It was obvious Gu Zhishen didn’t want Bai Changan, this forever third wheel, to stay and have breakfast.

However, it was as if Bai Changan didn’t understand. He brazenly said, “The steak I make at home doesn’t taste as nice as the one Zeng Pei makes! Sister-in-law, don’t you think so?”

Yun Jianyue looked at them with a dazed look. She didn’t understand what exactly they were talking about at all.

She constantly felt the words they spoke always seemed to have different meanings from what she heard!
