“Why don’t you come over and eat?” Yi Yunzhe gave her a strange look when he saw Mu Yu standing still.
“I suddenly realized that I didn’t bring my phone with me. I have to go and get it.” Mu Yu quickly excused herself.
“Breakfast will stop serving soon. Why don’t you get it after eating?”
“I can’t, I’m worried that Huan might get concerned when he can’t find me. Furthermore, the breakfast here doesn’t really suit my palate. President Yi, I have to go now.” Mu Yu waved and turned to walk out.
“Yu…”
She pretended not to hear Yi Yunzhe. With a few quick steps, she turned around the corner, and finally slowed down her pace.
Ahh, is the world really this small? I bumped into him even when I’m out for late breakfast. What a bummer.
Luckily, Qin Jinhuan hadn’t found out about this. Or else, she would be in trouble.
What a shame to miss a delicious breakfast with such a high variety.
She patted her poor stomach, and took another reluctant glance at the restaurant. Then, she sullenly returned to her room.
The maid, who was tidying the room, was very surprised to see her return. “Mrs. Qin, you’ve finished eating?”
“There isn’t anything that I like to eat. So, I came back.”
“What? The breakfast table offers so many varieties. You don’t like any of them?” The maid was a young girl. She had spoken to Mu Yu before, and she felt that Mu Yu was an approachable person. So, she couldn’t help but ask, “May I know what you prefer to eat?”
“I like… I like to eat special cuisines. The breakfast here is too normal.”
“Oh, in this case, why don’t you walk around the Foodie City? There are all kinds of delicious food from all around the world. They sell everything from breakfast to supper. There must be something that you like to eat over there.”
“Foodie City?” Mu Yu’s eyes brightened. “Where is it?”
“From the entrance of the resort, you can reach there by walking about three to four hundred meters to the east. A lot of our guests that come here for vacation fancy visiting that spot for food.”
“Really? That’s great.” Mu Yu grabbed her bag, and turned around to walk out of the room. However, she paused and returned into the room before she could even reach the door.
Yi Yunzhe was a real foodie. He would definitely visit the Foodie City. She was afraid of bumping into him again there.
“Mrs. Qin, do you not know the way?”
“It’s not that. I just want to wait for my husband so we can go there together.” Mu Yu smiled and sat on the sofa. She couldn’t help but curse Qin Jinhuan for making her lie twice within such a short amount of time.
“Oh, you and your husband are so in love.”
In love? My foot!
Even though she was cursing him in her heart, Mu Yu still put on a blissful smile on her face. “Of course, we came here for our honeymoon. Are you done cleaning up?”
“It’s done, it’s all done. I won’t disturb you now. I hope you enjoy your stay.” The maid took all the changed laundry out of the room, and closed the door behind her.
Once the door was closed, Mu Yu got onto her feet. She quickly went to take the kettle and filled it up. After switching it on, she then went to the cupboard, and took a packet of beef noodles with sauerkraut.
Even without any good food, she couldn’t just starve herself. Instant noodles were also just as good.
The door opened with a ‘creak’.
Mu Yu thought it was the maid who had returned, and she hid the noodles behind her embarrassingly. When she saw that the person who entered the room was Qin Jinhuan, she heaved a sigh of relief. Without taking another look at him, she put the noodles on the coffee table, and continued tearing up the seasoning packet for the noodles.
At first, Qin Jinhuan was shocked by the look on her face, but when he noticed the noodles that were placed on the coffee table, he instantly laughed. “You seem to enjoy eating sour food. Are you actually pregnant?”
Mu Yu rolled her eyes. “You are the one who’s pregnant.”
“I am a man. How can I be pregnant? I can only make you pregnant.” Qin Jinhuan, who was obviously in a good mood, didn’t seem to mind her eye roll. With a happy look on his face, he sat down beside her. “I know my skills are good, but I didn’t expect them to be that good. You’re already pregnant just by sleeping on the same bed with me.”
“You’re crazy! Scoot over!” Mu Yu gave him a disgusted look, and moved over. As she caressed her flat stomach, she deliberately said that in order to annoy him, “I am pregnant. But excuse me, the baby’s father isn’t you.”
“Oh? Is that so? Then I really have to get a good look at it.” While he was talking, Qin Jinhuan reached out his hand to pull Mu Yu into his arms.
His actions were so fast and accurate. By the time Mu Yu started responding with a loud yelp, his lips were already closing in on hers. She moved her head backward instinctively as she screamed angrily, “B*stard! What are you doing?”
Qin Jinhuan’s lips came to a halt when he was less than two centimeters away from hers, and he said in an unusual tone, “Didn’t you say that the baby isn’t mine? I have to verify it. After all, I am your lawfully wedded husband.”
“Are you crazy? How are you going to verify it?”
“I will put more babies into you and they will help me to verify it. If they are biological brothers, they will be more than happy to meet up with each other. If they aren’t, they will definitely have a good fight in there.”
Mu Yu finally understood what he meant, and blushed. Afraid that he would do what he said, she quickly held his hand and explained timidly, “I was lying to you and you believe it? How could I be pregnant?”
“I don’t believe in you. I heard that women like to eat sour food when they’re pregnant.”
“I’m not pregnant! You are not a kid anymore. When have you ever heard of a woman getting pregnant, when she hadn’t even done that kind of stuff before?”
“You haven’t done it before?”
Mu Yu nodded awkwardly.
She had initially thought that Qin Jinhuan would just let her go. However, to her surprise, he pulled her even closer with an evil smirk on his face. “I still don’t believe what you said. I can only be rest assured after verifying it myself.”
Mu Yu’s body tensed, as if she was facing her worst enemy. She hit him with all her might, and she screamed at him, reminding, “Qin Jinhuan, whether I’ve done that before or not, it has nothing to do with you. You cannot treat me as such!”
“You are my wife. How can you say that it has nothing to do with me?”
While Qin Jinhuan was saying that, he lowered his head again. Mu Yu was so scared that she covered her face with both of her hands, and screamed again, “I am only your wife by contract. You promised that you wouldn’t do anything to me! If you dare make a move, I will immediately tell grandpa everything!”
“I was just kidding. Why are you being so serious?” Qin Jinhuan loosened his grip on her as he smiled.
Mu Yu sat up, then jumped off the sofa. After keeping her distance from him, she then scolded resentfully, “Who would want to play along with such a dumb and shameless joke with you?”
“Aren’t you the one who started the joke? I thought you were really pregnant. I was so close to being overjoyed.”
As he was talking, he threw her a wink, which fueled Mu Yu’s anger. “Nothing has happened between us. How can I get pregnant? Are you retarded? What have you been doing in these thirty years?”
“But we’ve slept on the same bed, and used the same bathtub. How can you not be pregnant?”
Speechless, Mu Yu sneered in disdain, “So based on your logic, do all the babies that your female employees bear belong to you, since you guys work in the same building?”
“It doesn’t work like that. I have no interest in them. I…” Qin Jinhuan blew her a kiss and said, “I only fancy my wife.”
“We are but a fake couple.”
“How can we be fake? We’ve registered our marriage, and obtained the certificate. We…”
“Shut up! Can you please stop being so dirty? Stop ruining my appetite.”
“Ohh, stop eating such unhealthy food.” Qin Jinhuan grabbed her hand that was going for her noodles. When she attempted to pull her hand back, he immediately grasped her hand tightly. He swiftly switched to another hand to hold hers, and hugged her shoulders with the other. “I’m bringing you to eat something nice instead.”
“Let me go.”
“Don’t worry. You won’t get eaten.” Qin Jinhuan said while he pulled her out of the room.
“Hey… Where are we going?”
“Foodie City.”
Once they were out of the room, she knew he wouldn’t make a move on her again. Mu Yu’s nervousness finally tuned down a little before following behind him.
From the corner of her eyes, she noticed a smile on his face, and that made her even more puzzled. Last night, Beast Qin was so angry after finding out that I was talking to someone of the opposite sex. Why is he so happy and playful today? No matter how much I scolded him, he didn’t seem to get angry. Now, he’s even in the mood to bring me to get some good food!
Has he realized that he shouldn’t treat me like that last night? Is this actually his way of apologizing to me right now? No, that’s not right. He isn’t someone who admits his mistake so easily. Could it be possible that his business meeting yesterday went swimmingly?
Oh well, whatever the reason is, it wouldn’t be a problem as long as he doesn’t make another move on me.
“Be careful of the steps,” Qin Jinhuan held her hand and reminded her gently.
As soon as she lifted her head, she met his affectionate gaze, only to feel her heart drowning in a sudden wave of panic. She quickly lowered her head, but was unexpectedly greeted by their intertwined fingers. She couldn’t help but feel another surge of sweetness washing over her nervous heart.
Oh God, how can you have feelings for him? Have you forgotten how badly he treated you two days ago? He had even taken advantage of you!
While she was still deep in thoughts, he suddenly let go of her hand. She turned around in astonishment, and saw that he was opening an umbrella to hold it over her head. Then, he held her shoulder with one hand, and gently brought her into his arms.
It was then that she noticed that it was drizzling outside. When she saw the umbrella inclining toward her, she stopped resisting, and couldn’t help but lean her head on his shoulders. All of her previous resentment and anger were gone within the blink of an eye.
Although his sarcasm, teasing and indifference frustrated her most of the time, she couldn’t deny that no matter how many times she reminded herself, she would fall for him involuntarily whenever he treated her gently.
Being with him felt very different from being with Yihan.
Yihan had changed her life. He was the one she had looked up to for so many years. Whenever she was with him, she was always cautious—be it talking or doing some other things with him—for fear that she would make mistakes in front of him. She had always thought that she loved him. It was only when Qin Jinhuan told her to keep a distance from Xin Yihan that she realized that her feelings for Xin Yihan was only of respect and dependence one would have for a brother.
The one who was always fighting, teasing and joking with Qin Jinhuan, was the real her.
To love him was one thing, and being unable to afford to love was another issue. Although she knew that Qin Jinhuan and her were from different worlds, for now, she couldn’t help but follow her heart. She indulged in her love in secret, not allowing anybody to find out about it.
When he sensed that she was moving closer, Qin Jinhuan’s lips curled into a thin smile. He tightened his hold on her shoulders, while moving the umbrella a little more to her side.
Last night, he was furious at the sight of her and Yi Yunzhe talking and laughing on the golf court, but today, he felt bad yet happy at the same time when he saw her retreating to their room to eat instant noodles just to avoid Yi Yunzhe. That was why he decided to bring her out for some nice food despite the rain.
However, just as they walked out of the resort, he received a call from Wen Zeyu. According to him, grandpa had gone to the company unexpectedly to request an emergency board meeting, and Qin Jinhuan needed to be there at once. Without any other choices, he could only ask Cheng Xiang to bring Mu Yu to Foodie Street.
Mu Yu was worried that she might bump into Yi Yunzhe on Foodie Street, so she just made up an excuse and said that she didn’t want to eat alone outside. Seeing this, Qin Jinhuan ordered Cheng Xiang to go to Foodie Street to get her favorite buns and pastries. After sending her back to the room, he headed toward An City in a hurry with Bian Zijun and the others.
Not long after, Cheng Xiang bought tons of food for her. Mu Yu picked out some of her favorite ones to satiate her hunger. After she was full, she prepared to lie down for a short rest, but just then, her phone suddenly rang. Upon seeing that it was an unknown number, Mu Yu felt wary, but answered the call anyway.
