My Lift As A Top Star In A Book - Chapter 37

The last screen showed that Gu Zhengxi and Shen Chang’an were actually walking together. It was because Shen Chang’an had accidentally stepped into a hole and hurt her foot. But she didn’t want to give up halfway, so she agreed to walk with Gu Zhengxi.

One was in charge of being the other’s legs, while one was in charge of being the other’s brains. It worked out pretty well.

After they met with Jiang Yunze, Gu Zhengxi wanted to play Gomoku. The staff hadn’t prepared a Gomoku board, so Jiang Yunze used the Go chessboard to play Gomoku. But he didn’t expect Gu Zhengxi to keep going against the rules even when playing Gomoku.

He even managed to explain away every illegal move he made, and his explanations sounded so confident and logical.

Jiang Yunze had a more reserved and polite character so that he couldn’t outtalk Gu Zhengxi. In the end, he couldn’t take it anymore and just threw the pouch to Gu Zhengxi, then turned and left.

Gu Zhengxi opened the pouch but didn’t understand a single word, so he threw it to Shen Chang’an. She said to continue walking, so the two picked themselves up and continued up the mountain.

Not long after Qin Nuan bade Jiang Yunze farewell, she heard the sounds of cows mooing.

She followed the sound and crossed the forest to reach an open field and saw that it was full of young animals. The program staff had probably considered the guests’ safety, so they had lambs, kids, and calves in the field. There were also all sorts of calves – dairy cows, regular cattle, water buffalos, and more.

Qin Nuan held her rope in her hand. As long as she could tie it around one of these calves and bring it down the mountain, she would have completed this episode’s mission.

With that in mind, she pulled up some grass from the ground and walked towards the calves.

“Xiaonuan!”

Zhou Qingshu and Hao Bai had arrived as well. They saw Qin Nuan and called out to her.

Qin Nuan stopped walking and turned to walk towards them instead.

Hao Bai looked at all the calves. He thought that finding this place would be the end and didn’t think there was one last stage to go. He grumbled angrily, “Why are there so many cows around here? The program staff really invested a lot of money into this.”

“Exactly! There are so many of them! Which one is the one that the villager lost?” said Zhou Qingshu.

“If I’d known earlier, I would have brought that villager along and get him to identify which one it is,” said Hao Bai.

Just then, the melodious sound of a bamboo flute rang in the mountains. It was so pleasing to the ear.

Jiang Yunze was riding on a white cow that was making its way over leisurely as he continued to play the flute.

Hao Bai’s eyes lit up when he saw that it was someone he knew and ran over. “Jiang! You’re actually the special guest for this episode!”

“Hello, Brother Bai, it’s been a long time.” Jiang Yunze smiled and kept his bamboo flute away.

“Is the cow that the villager lost the one you’re riding on right now? We’re both so familiar with one another already, so hurry up and give me this cow.”

As Hao Bai said this, he attempted to tug at the rope around the white cow. Jiang Yunze quickly used his flute to whack Hao Bai’s hand away and laughed. “Brother Bai, I remember very well how you tried to get me into trouble the last season. This time, the program staff have asked me to be one of the actors for the program, so you can forget about taking this cow of mine away so easily!”

When he saw how protective Jiang Yunze was of this particular cow, Hao Bai was sure that the cow that the villager had lost had to be this white cow. Since trying to convince Jiang Yunze verbally didn’t work, he yelled for Zhou Qingshu, and the two of them decided to try taking it by force.

“What a bold thief you are! How dare you steal the cow that belongs to an older man in the village! Now that you’ve seen me, aren’t you going to return it quickly?!”

Just then, Gu Zhengxi appeared from absolutely nowhere. He abandoned Shen Chang’an, grabbed a fistful of grass, and swiftly entered the fray to fight for the white cow that Jiang Yunze was riding on.

Four men had surrounded a cow and refused to give way. Even the birds in the forest flew away in fright from their fighting.

Just then, the voice of the director rang in all of their earphones at the same time.

“Qin Nuan, congratulations for helping the villager find his lost cow and completing the mission!”

Wait, what?

Gu Zhengxi pulled off the communication device on him in disbelief and spun around to look at Qin Nuan.

He watched as Qin Nuan held a handful of green grass in one hand and a rope in the other. She had walked to the side of the mountain road, and a small regular cattle calf was following behind her. It chewed on the grass in her hand as it happily clopped away.
