My Left Eye Can See Ghosts - Chapter 40

I deliberately glanced at Liu Ruoyi’s feet… There was no shadow. Sure enough, she was a ghost like Ming Si and Lu Xi!

However, it felt awkward for her to call me Madam respectfully, and it also made me feel bad. After all, she was older than me, and I should be the one to call her elder sister instead. She was so polite. I didn’t know what to do.

“That… I’m younger than you, so you just call me Sixi. Don’t call me Madam, it sounds awkward.”

As soon as I finished my sentence, I felt the hand on my shoulder become heavier.

“Why would you be awkward?” Ming Si’s cold voice came from behind.

I turned my head, met his deep black eyes, and laughed bitterly, “I’m just not used to it.”

His face fell, and he said coldly, “You are my woman, learn to get used to it slowly.”

“Uh… Alright.”

I found out that Ming Si could get mad quickly, especially when he heard something he didn’t like. His complexion would change immediately.

“Madam, I will protect your safety from now on,” Liu Ruoyi said to me in a serious tone.

I was taken aback for a moment, and she continued speaking, “Hades is too busy with his official duties and cannot be by your side all the time. Please forgive him, Madam.”

“Actually…”

I wanted to say that Xu Zixi had been subdued, and I was waiting for Shang Yi to exorcise her. The school was now peaceful, and I did not need any personal protection. However, before I could say anything, Ming Si interjected, “You have to accept my arrangement, unconditionally.”

Such a bossy person! However, I knew that he was thinking about my safety. He might have been frightened the last time I nearly fell from the rooftop, so he arranged for Liu Ruoyi to be by my side.

Since there was no other choice, I could only accept it for the overall good.

“That’s it, but, can you just call me Sixi instead of Madam?” I tried to discuss with Liu Ruoyi, but Liu Ruoyi looked at Ming Si and asked me, “Is this an order?”

“…Yes, it’s an order.”

“Yes, madam… No, Sixi.”

Liu Ruoyi’s reaction was swift. Although I could not quite get used to her cold appearance, I was naturally at ease since Ming Si arranged her.

For a long time after that, I hardly needed to wear the blindfold with Liu Ruoyi around. She protected my safety and thus the demons and ghosts consciously avoided me.

I couldn’t help but think to myself. No wonder Ming Si sent her. She has such a strong aura.

I no longer have to worry about having nightmares at night and getting teased by ghosts. I could have a good night’s sleep every night and attend class energetically the next day. My life was pleasant.

At first, my classmates were very interested in my left eye, and they even took the initiative to stare at it. Some classmates were curious and used their handphones to take pictures of me. I wasn’t bothered by it, I was born beautiful, and so I naturally looked beautiful in pictures.

Ming Si was busy every day and rarely visited me so Liu Ruoyi basically accompanied me during the whole three years of middle school.

After graduating from middle school, I successfully entered the key high school in the county.

When I received the admission letter, my aunty was so excited she took me to the county’s mobile business office and bought me a smartphone without saying anything.

She said, “People nowadays use this kind of wireless phone. It will be convenient for you to make calls anytime and anywhere.”

“Thank you, aunty.”

She patted my head. Three years had passed, and at that moment, I just realised that she was a lot older than before. She even had white hair growing around her temples. Although her eyes still looked sharp, I realized that time and tide waited for no man.

“Be good, Sixi. Study hard, and go to a good university in the future. Let aunty enjoy good days with you.”

I nodded my head heavily, “I will definitely work hard.”

I spent the summer vacation in the village. I heard that Chubby Boy did not enter a decent high school. His grades were abysmal. He was playful, so he simply applied to a technical school and went to study computer maintenance. Zi Yang went along with him. Lin Xiao unexpectedly got into the same high school as me. But to think about it, it was not surprising. Lin Xiao had always done well in his studies since he was young. His temper became a bit ruthless after mixing with Chubby Boy and the others at that time, but everything else was fine.

However, he was a timid person. He listened to my aunty’s advice after the ghost infant incident and went to Shang Yi to ask for an amulet to wear.

On the school reporting day, we went together with Lin Xiao’s parents and my aunty.

We got on the bus at the entrance of the village and my aunty and Lin Xiao’s mother were talking along the whole way. Lin Xiao however, was very quiet. He was now a sixteen-year-old teenager, not very tall, but he had a handsome temperament that made him look like a frail scholar.

The bus did not go directly to the county’s key high school, so we got off halfway and called a taxi.

When we reached the school, Aunty helped me carry my luggage. After she reported to the office with me, she escorted me to the student dormitory.

She helped me to make the bed while murmuring, “Sixi, Shang Yi gave you some ghost subduing talismans again. Keep it.”

Originally, we had arrived early, so there were no other students in this dormitory.

However, when I heard my aunty talk about ghost subduing talisman, I suddenly felt as if I had forgotten something important, but I could not figure out what no matter how.

I laid down on the bed that night and heard the snoring sound of other girls sleeping in the same dormitory. I vaguely saw a person sitting next to my bed under the moonlight.

It was Liu Ruoyi.

Three years passed, and she still looked like she was still in her early twenties. Her appearance had not changed. We had been together for so long she was not as reserved as when we first met. She even joked around with me occasionally, but her jokes were colder than hers in person. I didn’t dare compliment her for it.

She looked down at me and said flatly, “Why are you still not sleeping?”

“I can’t sleep. I keep on feel like I had forgotten something. Can you help me think about it, what have I forgotten?”

She didn’t speak up so I guess she can’t remember either.

After a while, I started to feel sleepy but Liu Ruoyi was still sitting by the bed. Even if she did not rest for the whole day, she could still remain energetic, but I couldn’t.

But just when I was groggy and about to fall asleep in a daze, I vaguely heard Liu Ruoyi say, “Did you forget about Xu Zixi?”

I sat up immediately.

I suddenly remembered I had forgotten about Xu Zixi when she reminded me. No wonder I felt so uncomfortable and uneasy.

I slapped my forehead hard and took out my phone to give Shang Yi a call, but when I saw that the time displayed on the phone was 2:30 a.m., I immediately dismissed the idea.

“It’s been three years, Xu Zixi’s resentment should be extreme now,” Liu Ruoyi said in a low voice.

I couldn’t help but shudder. I blamed myself for this. I promised to help exorcise Xu Zixi, but three years have passed… And I just remembered about it. This was completely my fault and the blame was all on me.

When I thought of Xu Zixi standing alone on the rooftop for three years, I felt guilty.

But then suddenly I realized a serious problem. I looked at Liu Ruoyi, and she seemed to know what I was suspicious about, and said coldly, “The ghost subduing talisman is just a piece of paper. After all the wind, sun, and rain, how long do you think that mere talisman can hold her down for?”
