My Left Eye Can See Ghosts - Chapter 23

I turned around and ran back into the room. When I reached my aunt, I was about to tell her what I saw, but she spoke out first, “Did you see it?”

I was stunned and nodded silently.

“What kind of ghost infant is it?”

I roughly described the appearance of the ghost infant to her. She sighed thoughtfully and slowly said, “We may not be able to send the ghost infant away. It holds heavy resentment.”

My heart trembled.

“What should I do?”

“We can only ask Shang Yi for help if nothing works out.”

Asking that money-grubber to come, wouldn’t it give him a chance to earn a fortune again?

As far as I know, Lin Xiao’s family financial situation was not really good. Although Shang Yi had the capability, he never cared about the financial situation of others and always demands an exorbitant price.

I also didn’t know when Lin Xiao offended the ghost infant. I had never heard about Lin Xiao when I was in school, but it seemed like he came back a few days earlier than me.

That night, I had a series of nightmares. Xu Zixi and the ghost infant tormented me in my dreams, causing me to wake up several times that night. After midnight passed, I resulted to sitting on the bed with nearly all the lights turned on for the rest of the night.

I thought Xu Zixi would not be able to pester me anymore after I got home. Who knew she would just intensify the situation and even collaborate with the ghost infant to scare me.

If only Ming Si was here.

If he was here, I would at least be able to get a good night’s sleep.

When dawn broke, my head finally felt heavy and I fell asleep.

I slept till noon and woke up when I heard the voices of Old Lin and my aunty from outside.

“I have everything ready. I can send the ghost away tonight.”

“En. You must remember a few things. Do not make a mistake on the time and place. Also, you can’t take home the things you prepared for the ghost. Don’t look back when you are returning, even if you hear something from behind, make sure that you don’t turn around,” Aunty’s tone was serious.

I seldom heard my Aunt instruct anyone so seriously. The ghost infant this time was obviously not an easy task and it was starting to make me nervous just thinking about it.

I only hope that Lin Xiao can survive this.

After Old Lin left, I got up to eat something and sat at the table to do my vacation homework.

A wguke later, Chubby Boy and Zi Yang came to find me. They walked in while talking about Lin Xiao.

“You mean Lin Xiao skipped class and urinated in the dry well at the back of the school?” Chubby Boy’s startled voice came through, and it immediately attracted my attention.

I looked in his direction. He and Zi Yang had already walked in.

Zi Yang greeted me. He was still scornful as he was as a child. Afterward, he continued his conversation with Chubby Boy and said, “Yeah. I went looking for him last week because our schools were close to each other and I invited him to go to the Internet cafe to play games. He couldn’t hold it in on the way back and urinated in that well.”

Urinating in the well?

I suddenly remembered that my aunty said that Lin Xiao urinated on the ghost infant’s body, causing him to provoke the ghost infant. Did that mean the ghost infant died in that dry well?

I couldn’t help but interrupt, “Where is that well located at school?”

The two of them looked at me at the same time, and Zi Yang replied, “It’s not far behind your school, that place is quite shady.”

“Do you remember the exact location?”

“Yes, I remember.”

I didn’t say anything, but somewhow, I felt that my aunt’s methods might not be able to send the ghost infant away. If the ghost infant has very strong resentment, he might even kill Lin Xiao. In the end, I might still need to ask Shang Yi to help.

“Why are you asking this? It can’t be that you want to urinate in that well too?” Zi Yang looked at me in shock.

I glared at him and cursed in a low voice, “Go away. I wouldn’t be so uncivilized.”

Climbing over the wall at night to go to the Internet cafe to hang out was already a serious violation of school regulations. Lin Xiao deserved it for not going to school obediently. Instead he went out in the middle of the night to play online games…

I transferred my attention back to the textbook and continued to do my homework.

Chubby Boy and Zi Yang sat down on my bed. Zi Yang said mysteriously, “Did someone die in that well?”

“Why are you sure that there is a problem with that well?”

“Lin Xiao’s dad said that Lin Xiao urinated on someone which angered him. That’s why that person is troubling Lin Xiao.”

Chubby Boy disagreed, “That may not necessarily be related to that well.”

Both of them chatted endlessly, and I couldn’t calm down enough to do my homework.

I turned my head to glare at them, and shouted at them impatiently, “What are you guys here for? Can’t you guys see that I’m doing my homework? What’s with the noise?”

The two of them closed their mouths consciously, and I looked back at the textbook. The cramped English letters were making my head pound.

I took off the blindfold and felt my vision become clearer. I had always found it inconvenient to wear the blindfold, especially when I was reading the words on the blackboard in class.

After I finally managed to concentrate to complete three questions, Chubby Boy and Zi Yang started to mutter behind me again.

“Should we visit Lin Xiao?”

“Visit him? Who knows if the ghost would trouble us later.”

“What are you afraid of? You have so much yang energy. The ghosts would take a detour if they saw you!”

Both of them started talking to one another. Although the volume of their voices had lowered, the room was too quiet and I couldn’t concentrate with any noise.

I slapped the pen on the table, turned my head and glared at the both of them. I had planned to drive them out but before I could dismiss them, I saw a person behind them.

The man was dressed in black. His lanky body reclined on the bed and he propped up his head with one hand while staring at me with a smile.

It had been some time since I last saw him. My heart thumped and I stood up immediately.

Chubby Boy and Zi Yang stared at me.

Chubby Boy, “What are you doing?”

Zi Yang echoed, “You scared me.”

“You two, get out.”

“What?”

“Get out!”

The two looked at each other and seemed to sense that I was staring behind them. They kept a straight face, looked back and rushed out at once as if they were going to flee for their lives.

The man on the bed laughed deeply. The gentleness between his brows and eyes were a little different from the past.

He got up, sat cross-legged with his long legs, stared at me with his deep eyes, and said coldly, “I heard that you missed me?”

“En.”

The thought of him nearly made me crazy.

I almost jumped onto the bed to hug him.

“Elder brother, you finally came to see me,” I was a little excited.

“Come here.”

The corner of his lips curved slightly.

I approached him quickly, climbed onto the bed, and went straight into his arms.

His arms were cold, but it made me feel at ease.

I clearly felt his body stiffen a little. I thought, maybe he did not expect me to be so enthusiastic.

I hugged him tightly and nestled in his arms. After a long time, his palm patted my shoulder lightly. His movements were rhythmic and gentle as if he was comforting a sleeping baby in his arms.

I suddenly remembered what Lu Xi said to me and couldn’t help but get assurance from Ming Si, “Elder brother, wait for me for a few more years. I will grow up soon. You have been waiting for three years. Would a few more years matter to you?”
