“Don’t bother running after him, let him be. He doesn’t have to participate in the Magical Beast Hunting Competition this time.” Elder Yue stood on the high stage as a gleam flashed across his eyes. He stroked his beard and looked a little curiously towards Yun Qingyan.

“Yun Qingyan, don’t try to insult us in this roundabout manner. Our attitudes and our dislike of you have nothing to do with one another.” The girl in orange stood up indignantly again and pointed a finger at Yun Qingyan as she spoke loudly.
Yun Qingyan fluttered her eyes innocently. “And which ear of yours heard that I was insulting someone in a roundabout manner?”
“Are you still going to deny it?! You called all of us toads earlier, and now you dare to say you didn’t!” The girl in orange glared at Yun Qingyan.
“Oh,” Yun Qingyan calmly responded and raised an eyebrow at her. “I was straight-up calling you a toad, I wasn’t saying this in a roundabout manner, don’t overthink it.”
“Why, you!” The young lady didn’t know how to respond to Yun Qingyan anymore.
This woman was way too arrogant.
“Hey, old man up there, you’ve been watching this show for so long, don’t you think it’s about time to start the competition?” Yun Qingyan just ignored the other girl’s shouts and unabashedly raised her head to look at Elder Yue.
“Ahem.” Elder Yue had been glued to what was happening and almost forgot why he was here. He snapped out of his daze and looked rather embarrassed.
He then immediately glared at Yun Qingyan and his beard shook as he shouted, “You terrible little girl! Who are you calling an old man? You have to address me as Elder! Elder! Tsk, you don’t know how to show respect to your elders at all.”
He looked angry and worked up, but he wasn’t really angry at all.
Yun Qingyan didn’t know what to say.
If she added her ages over three lifetimes, she wasn’t sure who would really be older than who now.
“Ahem, be quiet!” Elder Yue yelled in a loud voice since the plaza was still extremely noisy.
His voice carried an authoritative sort of pressure and covered the plaza like a wave. The entire area instantly fell silent.
“Students, welcome to the annual Magical Beast Hunting Competition,” his vigorous voice filled the whole plaza. “I won’t go into the details of the rules, they’re the same as the past years.”
“The senior students from the A and B Zones will lead the junior students from the C-Zone into the Forest of No Return to proceed with hunting. Every person will collect a bangle that belongs only to yourself. After you place your spoils into the bangle, it will automatically add up your points along the way. You can collect Magical Beast Gem Cores or precious Spirit Medicines, they will all count.”
“The academy will rank all of you according to your final scores. The top three of each zone, as well as the top three teams of the group competition, will receive a special reward from the academy.”
After Elder Yue finished saying these things, his kindly face slowly became stern.
“For the competition this time, we will arrange for teachers to patrol within your area of activity.
