Lin Yueniang had heard about what had happened earlier that morning.
She’d heard that the Crown Prince had returned to his palace with his clothes in disarray.
Lin Yueniang had been wondering all day where His Highness could have gone after he’d left her rooms and who he’d ended up sleeping with.
Since he had taken that cup of tea, he definitely had had to settle this problem somehow.
He didn’t leave the East Palace the night before, so he must have settled this within the East Palace.
He couldn’t have gone to Consort Chen’s or to Filial Lady Guo of Excellence’s.
If he had gone to either of their residences, they wouldn’t have allowed him to leave with his clothes in such a mess.
So it had to be one of the palace maids within the East Palace.
When she thought about that, Lin Yueniang nearly ground her teeth to powder in fury.
She had put so much effort into preparing for that night over the last six months, and it had ended up benefitting someone else instead.
And she didn’t even know which slut she had benefitted.
If she got her hands on that slut, she was going to skin her alive.
Lin Yueniang’s expression was darker than the night sky.
She slowly picked up her chopsticks and started eating the pig intestines.
Eating pig intestines didn’t make her even half as angry as the matter she’d heard about this morning.
As Yun Dai watched her, she started to feel some admiration for Lin Yueniang.
It was no wonder that this woman had managed to rise to become the third concubine of the Crown Prince even though she’d started off as a lowly palace maid.
She’d made it because of her sheer endurance and resilience levels. Yun Dai even felt like clapping for her.
Lin Yueniang finished eating all three portions of the pig intestines.
After she was finished eating, she put her chopsticks down. Her face was almost as purple as a pig’s liver.
She had been so disgusted by what she had eaten.
Yun Dai immediately and thoughtfully offered her a cup of Longjing tea and said, “My Lady, please have some tea. It will make you feel better.”
Lin Yueniang glared fiercely at her, but she still took the cup from Yun Dai and drank it down.
It was true that she felt a lot better after taking the tea.
She didn’t feel like puking anymore.
Yun Dai politely took all the cutlery away and left the room.
Lin Yueniang only realized what had just happened after Yun Dai left the room.
She could have just puked everything out.
But after she’d drunk that cup of Longjing tea, the sickening taste had disappeared, and she didn’t feel like vomiting anymore.
“Argh!! I’m so angry!” Lin Yueniang flung the teacup violently onto the floor.
The maid quickly tidied up the place and consoled her, “My Lady, don’t be angry anymore. His Highness only did this in a moment of anger. After a couple of days, His Highness won’t be angry anymore, and you can go over to plead for mercy.”
“I can’t stand even one more meal!” Lin Yueniang’s eyes were bloodshot from being so angry. “He has even gotten a lowly kitchen helper to stand by the side and watch me finish eating everything. I have to make sure she learns a good lesson.”
The maid quickly tried to persuade her otherwise. “My Lady, that won’t do. This kitchen helper was specially hired by His Highness, and His Highness was also the one who ordered her to watch you finish the food. If you do anything to her, then His Highness will immediately suspect you. On top of that, I’ve already checked and found out that this kitchen helper was sent here by the Young Master from Duke Chen’s residence. If you do anything to her, that would be equivalent to going up against Consort Chen.”
Lin Yueniang felt as if she was going to suffer a breakdown soon. “I can’t do this, and I can’t do that? It took me so much work to finally become a master, and I still have to suffer under servants?”
The maid quietly tried to change her perspective. “My Lady, why get angry over this particular incident? His Highness is upset with you, so it’s more important to try and gain His Highness’s favor now. That servant was able to behave so arrogantly precisely because she has the support of His Highness. Once you get His Highness on your side, then it won’t take much for you to dispose of her, right?”
Lin Yueniang slowly calmed back down.
She stood up and clenched her teeth. “There’s one more thing. Nobody knows which maid His Highness slept with last night, so you must find out who it was. I put so much time and effort into planning that night, and there’s no way I’m going to let some slut benefit from it. Anybody who thinks they can overstep me can dream on.”
The maid said, “But nobody was following His Highness last night, so it’s really very hard to find out who it was.”
Lin Yueniang considered this, then said, “You mean I still have to teach you how to go about investigating this? Start with those young, pretty junior palace maids.”
