My Dear Mr. Gu - Chapter 46

“Why are you running away from me?” asked Gu Haoting coldly as his gaze trailed down from her face, settling on her soaked dress. He reached out.

Lieutenant Shang respectfully placed a white towel in Gu Haoting’s hand.

In a swift movement, he wrapped the towel around Huo Weiwu. As he stared coldly and distantly at her delicate face, he asked indifferently, “Your clothes are not dry yet. Where are you going instead of going back to your room to change?”

Huo Weiwu felt that even though his words sounded lighthearted, his deep eyes were brimming with murderous intent. It looked like he could start shooting fire through his eyes at any moment.

Her heart skipped, but she also felt that there was no need for her to be afraid.

“I accidentally got my clothes wet, and since I didn’t bring any spare clothes, I’m about to head out to buy some new ones,” said Huo Weiwu. She thought this was a good excuse.

His right thumb caressed her red lips. With an icy gaze, he said, “Huo Weiwu, when will you learn?”

“Why do I have to learn? I’m not your daughter, I have the right to my personal freedom,” replied Huo Weiwu as she swatted his hand away.

A sharp glint flashed across Gu Haoting’s eyes. He asked sternly, “Do you think you made no mistake in attending this matchmaking party even though you are engaged?”

“I don’t know what you mean by ‘matchmaking’. I’m just here to accompany my friend,” responded Huo Weiwu as she walked away.

Gu Haoting gazed at Huo Weiwu’s back. His eyes narrowed as a hint of danger suddenly surfaced in them.

“If your friend didn’t tell you what kind of party this was, then her actions amount to the abduction of an ignorant woman like you. Lieutenant Shang, get a lawyer and file a lawsuit,” commanded Gu Haoting.

Huo Weiwu’s footsteps halted. She thought to herself, “If Gu Haoting wants to take revenge on Yanzi, she will be so thoroughly destroyed that not a trace will remain of her.”

“She’s innocent. If you want to be angry, just be angry at me,” said Huo Weiwu with a frown.

“Heh,” Gu Haoting snorted. What he intended to do was to be kept secret. He started walking in the direction of the villa.

“Gu Haoting,” Huo Weiwu ran after him. She grabbed his arm.

Gu Haoting flung her aside. In the following second, he grabbed her shoulders and sealed her lips with a kiss.

It was overly intense and felt more like a turbulent surge—like a tsunami swallowing her entirely.

Huo Weiwu retreated until her back collided with a tree trunk.

His warm palm slid down her waist and lifted her dress. However, a last-minute realization stopped him from going further. His hand settled at her waist again as he released her.

His eyes were filled with a fantastical desire.

“Tell me—if I were just to be angry at you, how would you plan on soothing my anger?” asked Gu Haoting coldly. “Answer me properly because you only get one chance.”

“We agreed that I would stay in the room to rest while she attended the matchmaking. She did not lie to me,” explained Huo Weiwu.

Evidently, this answer proved unsatisfying to the Commander.

Gu Haoting continued walking toward the villa with a cold expression.

Lieutenant Shang and his other soldiers jogged after him.

Gu Haoting commanded unyieldingly, “I do not wish to see Chen Yan ever released from prison. Make those arrangements.”

Huo Weiwu instantly felt distressed. She bit her bottom lip so hard that she tasted her own blood. Chasing after Gu Haoting, she asked, “What do you want me to do to soothe your anger?”

Gu Haoting paid no attention to her. He entered the elevator.

Huo Weiwu barged in as well. She grabbed Gu Haoting’s arm, saying, “I make delicious noodles. You must be hungry since you came here from so far away.”

Gu Haoting did not speak.

Huo Weiwu stood before him tyrannically. “I bake delicious cake as well.”

Gu Haoting cast an insidious sidelong gaze at her.

“Since I borrowed Yanzi’s identity card, I had to return this favor by accompanying her here. The reason why Yanzi asked me to come with her is that she knew that I wouldn’t compete with her. When you arrived, I was resting in my room. I was the one who asked you to marry me, there’s no way I’d go back on my word,” explained Huo Weiwu.

Gu Haoting lowered his head and kissed her lips. He grabbed her waist.

He was able to lift Huo Weiwu off the ground easily…
