My Dear Mr. Gu - Chapter 43

“Why, did I hit a sore spot? How dare you come here for matchmaking? Who do you think will fall for you? Nobody knows how many times you’ve been used by Wei Yankang; I bet you’re almost rotten now! And I bet that you’ve even been through a few abortions!” Huo Chun intentionally raised her voice so that everyone around them could hear.

Huo Weiwu was so furious that she started laughing.

She had heard enough slander against her—getting angry would just be giving these people what they wanted.

“Are you talking about yourself? Boss Wu told me everything. It’s such a pity—if you had given birth to your love child, perhaps he would have left his wife,” said Huo Weiwu with a smile.

Huo Chun’s eyes widened, and when she saw everyone around them staring at her, she exclaimed in shame and anger, “What nonsense are you spewing? What Boss Wu are you talking about? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Oh, right,” said Huo Weiwu as her gaze fell to Huo Chun’s chest. “Where did you get your breast enhancement surgery done? Being able to go from an A cup to a C cup is almost a miracle—the surgeon who did the surgery for you must be pretty remarkable.”

“You’re spewing nonsense again! My breasts are real,” responded Huo Chun. Her voice was sharp and ear-piercing.

“Stop making such exaggerated expressions with your face—what if you start bleeding from your fake nose? What’s more, you shaved your chin, and if you continue making such expressions, your mouth might become crooked. Also, did anyone tell you that you went overboard with your canthoplasty? It doesn’t look realistic,” said Huo Weiwu with feigned seriousness and concern.

“Watch what you say, or I’ll sue you for slander,” said Huo Chun. Her entire body was trembling.

“What did I say wrong? I have a photo of you before plastic surgery, so we can get someone to judge what is the truth,” Huo Weiwu replied as she unlocked her phone and pulled up Huo Chun’s photo.

A middle-aged man walked past her.

Huo Weiwu casually approached the man to ask: “Sir, take a look at this. This is an old photo of number 36—do you think she had plastic surgery done?”

Huo Chun’s face blanched when she saw the middle-aged man. She lowered her head and curled her hands into fists.

The middle-aged man glanced at the photo in Huo Weiwu’s phone and then directed his gaze back to Huo Chun. In a stern voice, he said, “The instructions on the invitation card clearly state that participants who have gone under the knife are not allowed. You’ve been disqualified.”

He waved his hand to summon a security guard.

Huo Chun glared at Huo Weiwu. “You’re ruthless, a real snake. After all, I am your biological cousin, but this is how you treat me. Just wait and see what happens.”

Huo Weiwu watched the security guard escort Huo Chun out of the venue. She lowered her eyelids.

She had just been defending herself by instinct and had not meant to cause Huo Chun’s disqualification. With Huo Chun’s appearance and background, it wouldn’t have been difficult for her to get chosen by one of the prominent figures attending tonight’s party.

The middle-aged man turned to the crowd and issued a warning, saying, “If there is anyone here who has had work done to their face, you will be dealt with by the law upon discovery. We promise you that you will consequently spend the rest of your life in jail. I want everyone who has undergone plastic surgery to leave before the interviews begin.”

After that announcement, half of the population in the lobby left.

Yanzi gave Huo Weiwu a thumbs-up, finding delight in the misery of the others. “You’re really impressive! You managed to get rid of half of our competitors in one go.”

Huo Weiwu, however, was not happy about it. “Go ahead and do the interviews by yourself. I’m going back to the room to rest.”

When she reached Room 303, she dumped her purse on the bed and went to the bathroom to change her menstrual pad.

The bathroom faced the garden, which could be seen through the window at the back of the room. The swimming pool was also within view, and the water appeared brilliantly blue and sparkly under the sun.

Feeling hungry, Huo Weiwu caught sight of the room-service instructions on the bedside table. She dialed the number tentatively, and it went through.

She asked for a bowl of noodles and then laid down on the bed to rest.

A whirring sound could be heard from outside.

It sounded like a helicopter was approaching.

Huo Weiwu frowned. She wondered to herself, “Do all wealthy people these days like to travel by helicopter?”
