When Li Tian left the house, even Wang Ma was oblivious as to what had happened since she didn’t witness the incident.
Who would’ve thought something that was supposed to be a celebration would have taken a wrong turn.
Li Tian walked out of the house, alone. In truth, currently, he didn’t feel like going anywhere at all.
Ever since he returned from overseas, his life had completely changed. In the past, he used to worry about accomplishing his missions and how he could ensure minimal damage to his team.
However, right now, his main worry was how he could survive in this fast-paced city.
Li Tian had realized how fast-paced Jiangdu really was behind all the development. However, he quite liked this lifestyle.
He didn’t have to worry about bullets flying over his head while he slept, or about being bombed by grenades.
Right now, he just needed to enjoy life as much as he liked.
It’s unfortunate that this happened…
He took a cigarette out and continued to walk around aimlessly. As the Lin family wanted to avoid the noise from the city centre, their mansion was built in the suburbs. It would take roughly two hours to walk back home.
Of course, Li Tian wasn’t planning on walking all the way home. He just wanted to get some air, then he would take a taxi home after that.
Honestly, Li Tian was also someone who cared a lot about his own reputation or image. As thick-skinned as he was, he wasn’t someone who would hold back if someone were to insult him.
The only reason Li Tian held himself back from teaching Lin Chen a lesson today was that Lin Chen was Lin Yi’s brother.
After walking for almost five minutes, Li Tian came to a sudden realization that he was lost.
This darn city. Cement roads everywhere! Everything looks the same.
When he reached a hillside, he noticed that there was someone else there.
Her clothes and her figure showed how ‘perfect’ she was.
Li Tian immediately pushed these thoughts to the back of his mind. He didn’t expect to see a beautiful woman there at all. However, her clothes did look a little too familiar to Li Tian.
Whatever. I’ll just focus on the beautiful girl in front of me.
“Hey, beautiful. May I ask if you know where we are? How do I get to the city centre?” Li Tian walked towards that woman and shouted from behind her.
As smooth as butter. No one would be able to tell that I asked her on purpose.
However, Li Tian was shocked when that woman turned around.
“Eh… Honey, why are you here?”
That woman he saw was none other than Lin Yi.
Lin Yi already knew that it was Li Tian as soon as she heard his voice. She then said to him, “So this is your way of picking girls up? There’s really nothing special to it.”
“Picking girls up? Did I do that? I really got lost and just wanted to ask for directions.”
Li Tian tried to play dumb.
“Lost? There’s a cleaner just right there. Why didn’t you ask him then? Obviously he would be more familiar with this place.”
Lin Yi pointed at the direction of the cleaner and said.
Oh… There actually is one. Obviously, Li Tian was too busy looking at the pretty girl to notice that man.
“Uh… I didn’t see him there.”
“Alright, I didn’t mean to nag you. I heard that the incident just now upset you, so I came out to look for you. But I didn’t know that you’d still be around here.”
“Upset me? Nah, everyone was just having a great time.”
Li Tian couldn’t say that he secretly wanted to kill her brother.
Of course, he should keep his inner thoughts only to himself.
“Why are you like this? If you’re upset, just say that you’re upset.”
“No, I’m not, really. Do you want me to prove it to you?”
“How?”

“I laughed. Doesn’t this prove that I’m happy?”
Lin Yi felt her heartstrings tug when she saw Li Tian ‘playing dumb’.

Besides, she didn’t have any strong ‘backing’, nor any powerful connections like the ones Li Tian had. All she had was her diligence.
“Really? You think so?”
“Yeah, why would I lie to you?”
“Then why are you still with Chen Ya Jing? Am I still not enough in your eyes?”
“Uh… I…”
Li Tian was at a loss for words. What should he say? It seemed like there was no right answer to the question she asked anyways.
“Li Tian, do you know what my ultimate goal in life is?”
“Getting your company to rank in the Top 500 Most Successful Companies in the world?”
“No, what’s the point of that? Money can’t buy everything. My goal is very simple. I just want a warm family. Even if my life isn’t luxurious, I want my children to grow up in a warm family. Sounds a bit ridiculous, right?”
Lin Yi let out a bitter laugh as she finished her sentence.
At that time, Lin Yi’s words touched Li Tian’s heart, and he felt as if he was going crazy for feeling this way.
“Honey, let’s go on dates when we’re more free. We can go to amusement parks, to the movies, or just have a simple date by the stream near our house, like how normal couples do. I know we’d be starting from scratch, but I am more than willing to put in the effort, for us. I believe that one day we’ll be able to have that feeling of home that you’ve been dreaming about. Then, if you want to, we can have a few kids of our own in the future, too. I may not be able to promise you many things, but I can assure you that our family will be the warm family of your dreams.”
