Li Tian left Lin Yi’s office soon after. He was too ashamed to be in the room after Lin Yi mercilessly fired back at him.
At this point, he didn’t mind if it meant that he would lose his job at the PR department. Li Tian just hoped that Lin Yi would soften up and consider letting Ya Jing come back to the company. After all, he knew that it wouldn’t be easy for Ya Jing to find another job suitable for her, especially when the work environment and reputation at Qing Cheng International were considered one of the best amongst all the other companies.
However, upon walking out of the door, he bumped into someone, someone he didn’t expect to see.
“Ya Jing, why are you…”
Chen Ya Jing had been standing right in front of the door.
Chen Ya Jing had witnessed Li Tian and Lin Yi’s entire argument.
Upon seeing her, it definitely seemed like she was on the verge of tears. Li Tian had done so much for her, he even went out of his way to argue with Lin Yi and fight for Chen Ya Jing.
Not to mention the fact that Chen Ya Jing was only a temporary passerby in Li Tian’s life. The person who would most likely be with him, in the end, was still Lin Yi.
“You… You’ve misunderstood the CEO. Actually, I was transferred to the Advertising Department to be the Head of Department there. Technically speaking, I was even promoted to a higher position. It was just that everything happened so quickly that I didn’t have enough time to tell Qing Qing and the others at the office.”
“Uh…”
Chen Ya Jing’s words left Li Tian speechless.
He had just barged into Lin Yi’s office and confronted her without even knowing the truth of the situation.
“What you’re saying is that I…”
“Hehe… That’s your business. I’m going to tell Qing Qing and the others about this, see you later.”
As much as Chen Ya Jing was touched by Li Tian’s actions, she was even happier to see Lin Yi all riled up because her husband was arguing with her for another woman.
Although Chen Ya Jing respected and admired Lin Yi, she wasn’t one who would yield in regards to love.
This is why people often say women are scary.
So what if I’m a homewrecker? I won’t be one forever.
Li Tian could only stand there and watch as Chen Ya Jing left to see Shu Qing Qing and the others. Only then it dawned on him how big of a mess he was in.
Why didn’t you say that earlier? Look at what you got me into!
Not only was Chen Ya Jing not fired, she was even promoted to a higher position at the company. As he was reminded of the things he just said and attacked Lin Yi with, Li Tian felt as though he had made a fool out of himself.
No wonder Lin Yi was so mad. If it were me, I would’ve been angry too.
Li Tian stood by the office door, but as much as he wanted to go in, it took some time for him to muster up the courage to do so.
In the end, he finally opened the door to Lin Yi’s office.
Lin Yi stood by the window, staring blankly into the distance. In actuality, Li Tian’s actions had caused her to become dazed. Lin Yi knew she couldn’t deny that Li Tian already had a special place in her heart. Although the relationship they had wasn’t comparable to other married couples, Li Tian became more than just a friend to Lin Yi.
This had progressed to the point where Lin Yi considered him to be ranked in the second place behind her own mother.
However, it was undeniable that Li Tian’s actions today spoilt this status.
It was then that Lin Yi realized the cruel reality.
No matter how hard she worked, she still wasn’t a woman who could provide him with physical comfort, because she was slightly too conservative.
Upon hearing the office door open, Lin Yi tried to regain her composure. Chen Ya Jing’s words made sense to her—she was successful because she had never brought her personal matters into her work.
As she was still at work, she decided to let go of her feelings for now.
However, the person at the door wasn’t the person she expected. Lin Yi assumed that it was her secretary, but upon turning around, she saw Li Tian standing in front of the door.
Li Tian was rubbing his hands together, clearly nervous.
Huh? Why does he look so nervous?
“Why are you here again?”
Lin Yi asked in her usual cold tone.
Is he here to argue with me because of that woman? Does he really think that I’m a pushover?
However, Li Tian suddenly smiled brightly, and said, “Um… About before… My lovely wife, what happened just now was all my fault, I blamed you without knowing the entire situation. Hmm, how about I give you a shoulder massage? Would you like some to drink some tea? Or…”
Lin Yi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at Li Tian busily running around her office in an attempt to appease her.
Li Tian’s ways of apologizing were way too different from what she was used to seeing from other people.
She glanced at the tea, coffee, and water on her desk. Lin Yi didn’t even know which one she should drink first.
Also, why did he have to touch her waist after massaging her shoulders?
Huh? Why is he applying less and less pressure?
Lin Yi turned her head around to look at Li Tian, and realized that he was shooting her a suggestive look. Her cheeks immediately reddened.
“Get…Get out!”
When he heard that, Li Tian snapped back to reality. He remembered that his mission was to apologize to Lin Yi, so he quickly said, “Please, honey, I’m sorry I slipped up. Oh yeah, you must be hungry after being mad at me for so long. I’ll go get something for you to eat. What would you like? Oh I know, crystal dumplings, right? I’ll bring them straight away.”
Li Tian went to see the head chef to ask for permission to use the kitchen. After about 15 minutes, the crystal dumplings were ready.
Lin Yi loved pretty-looking food like this. She loved them so much that she would always be grinning from ear to ear whenever Wang Ma made food like this for her at home.
Lin Yi thought that Li Tian was joking, but when she saw him walk back into her office with a plate of freshly made crystal shrimp dumplings, she was stunned.
Her secretary was stunned too. The CEO was planning to eat in the office? What’s going on? Am I seeing things?
“What…What are you doing?”
Li Tian took out a pair of chopsticks, a spoon, and a plate from a box.
“Go on, try it! I know you must be starving from all the rage. Let’s fill your stomach first. After that, you can scold me all you want. Perhaps after eating this, you won’t even be mad at me anymore.”
Lin Yi was no match for Li Tian’s fawning actions.
“Why aren’t you eating? Is it not to your taste? I’ll go make something else for you, then.”
“No? Then, are you suspecting that I might’ve put something in the food? Okay, I’ll have the first bite.”
“That’s right, have some more.”
In the end, Lin Yi ate the dumplings, because if Li Tian were to eat it first, she wouldn’t have the appetite to eat after him.
Indeed, all that anger had caused her to become hungry. Plus, she didn’t eat very much in the morning.
When he saw Lin Yi finish the entire plate of crystal shrimp dumplings, Li Tian said, “Honey, I swear by a man’s dignity, I won’t spend the night outside ever again without your permission.”
“A man’s dignity? What’s that?”
“If I fail to keep this promise, we’ll only have daughters and never have a son!”
