Mr Quan, Let’s Be Together From Now On - Chapter 58

Dr. Song paid no heed to the fact that Bai Ran did not recognize him and very excitedly seized hold of Bai Ran’s shoulders with both of his hands. He hastily removed his mask to fully expose his face to Bai Ran and began to introduce himself before she could even take a good look at him.

“I’m Song Chengjue! Don’t you remember me? I used to visit your family often when I was young. I even helped you to complete your summer assignments!” Song Chengjue pointed at himself as he spoke emphatically as though he was afraid that Bai Ran was going to run away if she could not recall who he was.

“Even if she cannot remember anything, it doesn’t matter at all. She was too young to remember when we played together back in those days. It was something that happened in elementary school after all. I also did not manage to recognize Bai Ran when we met again last night.

“Moreover, the situation yesterday was very urgent, and I was very stressed about it. There was no time for me to care about the appearance of my patients or their family members.”

Although Bai Ran appeared to be in a daze, after she heard the name “Song Chengjue”, a memory from her childhood suddenly flashed through her mind.

Back then, she had been living alone with her mother and she could not understand why the other children had a father to accompany them to school while she only had her mother.

Thankfully, she had Brother Song Chengjue by her side. She often bullied him but even then, he still doted on her very much.

When she was young, she would always bully him to show off her strength. She often got him to help complete her assignments for her and run to get snacks for her when she was hungry. She would even ask him to help her to pour some water when she was thirsty…

In the younger Bai Ran’s world, she did not have many memories of her father, but there were many happy memories and many happy times that she spent together with a brother who constantly cherished her dearly.

“Brother Cheng! It’s you! You… Did you become a doctor?” Bai Ran finally remembered. She stared in astonishment at the childhood friend whom she had unexpectedly reunited with. She was extremely surprised that he recognized her.

Song Chengjue finally heaved a long sigh of relief when he finally heard Bai Ran call his name and saw recognition light up in her eyes. He reached out with both hands to pull her into his chest as though she was a treasure.

“I finally found you…”

Bai Ran was also moved, and she instinctively hugged him as well. However, she did not have equally intense emotions about their reunion. She was simply very surprised to see him again.

“Brother Cheng, why have you become so handsome? I couldn’t recognize you at all! Are you my mum’s attending physician? What’s my mum’s situation now? Has she stabilized?” Bai Ran’s torrent of questions flooded out of her like water and could not seem to stop. Initially, she thought that she and her mother only had each other to depend on for survival—she never expected to meet her childhood friend again!

“I met Quan Rui yesterday and he helped me settle so many things. Today, I’m reunited with Song Chengjue…

“It seems like God is finally being kind to me!”

Bai Ran smiled happily. She was no longer all alone in the world.

Song Chengjue knew that Bai Ran must be worried about her mother’s health and he reached out his hand to pat her on the head as he consoled her, “Auntie will be fine. The surgery was very successful, and she’ll only need to be watched for one more day. When her condition stabilizes, we’ll move her out of the ICU. She must have received a very heavy blow to her head but thankfully, we didn’t identify any bleeding on the CT scan. After her wound heals, she’ll be able to regain consciousness. Don’t worry too much, I’ll take good care of Auntie.”

“It’s good then… It’s good then…” Bai Ran nodded her head continuously as she smiled, and tears of relief began to warm up her eyes. She did not understand why her nose was stinging or why her eyes were getting hot even though she was happy.

“Silly girl, don’t cry! Brother Cheng is here for you now. Auntie will be fine.” Song Chengjue smiled as he flung his arms wide and pulled Bai Ran into his chest again.

“I’ve searched for them for so many years. Finally, God is giving me a chance to repay them for their kindness to me…”
