Mr Quan, Let’s Be Together From Now On - Chapter 50

She had not been aware of her surroundings earlier on. She was completely fixated on her mother’s condition and the prospect of all the worst-case scenarios coming true…

Now that she had come to her senses, she began to realize what she had done.

“I actually…hugged this man voluntarily, this man whose personality is as cold as ice!

“Strangely enough, his body temperature doesn’t seem to be as bad as his personality. He’s actually pretty warm.

“At least he didn’t push me away.”

Quan Rui felt his arms pulled apart and he realized that Bai Ran had stopped crying. She was putting her guard up again like a prickly little porcupine. She watched him warily now, as though she was afraid that he would eat her up.

“Why? Are you done making use of me?” Quan Rui replied crossly and took off his suit jacket, tossing it over the seat.

It was not that he hated that Bai Ran approached him and put him in an uncomfortable position, he was a hygiene freak through and through, and she had dirtied his clothes with snot.

“I can’t possibly continue to wear these clothes around the hospital while they’re soaked with your tears, can I?”

Bai Ran stared at Quan Rui’s jacket and tried to process what she heard him say. Her face turned slightly red with embarrassment.

“I… I’ll clean this for you.” Bai Ran could not deny the fact that she was the cause of his ruined jacket.

“You’re done crying?” Quan Rui changed the subject, ignoring what she just offered to do.

“…Mm.” Bai Ran nodded her head silently. Although behaving haughtily came to her naturally when she was at his house earlier on, she no longer felt as though she was in a position to be smart with him now.

When Quan Rui saw how docile Bai Ran had become, his lips curled up into a slight smile and he sat down on the seat beside his jacket, taking one glance at the bright lights of the operating theatre. The light above the operating theatre was still a vivid red, so he offered her words of comfort that were rare coming from him, “As long as the doctor hasn’t come out to announce that your mother cannot be saved, there is still hope that she will survive. It won’t help her for you to worry about it.”

“…Can this really be considered words of comfort?”

But Bai Ran did not want to argue with him. What Quan Rui had said sounded nasty, but they were the hard facts.

“In any case, it’s time for us to talk about business now.”

“My mum still needs money for her subsequent hospitalization and treatment. I was wondering…if…you could help me?” Bai Ran frowned but she decided that the best thing for her to do now was to settle her mother’s treatment fees.

While Quan Rui previously promised to give her half the winnings of the game, she considered the circumstances under which the bet was made and realized it wouldn’t be easy for her to obtain her share of that money.

So, Bai Ran decided to forgo her share of the money. After all, right now, Quan Rui was willing to help her out.

“I can help you, but I have two conditions.”

Obviously, since Quan Rui had come all the way to the hospital to help Bai Ran.

But with his presence here, he could provide her with all kinds of help that she wouldn’t be able to provide her own mother. All he had to do was mention his name and her mother’s matters would be eased because of his power.

“As long as you’re willing to save my mother, I’ll do anything that you ask of me.” Bai Ran bit her lower lip and her face turned a shade paler.

“I would definitely have rejected Quan Rui’s proposal if Mum wasn’t in such dire straits. But right now, I don’t have a choice.”

“Sure.” Quan Rui nodded his head and listed out his conditions, “Starting from now, you’ll live under the name of Jiang Yuexi. I want you to take away everything that the Jiang Family has and to keep it all for yourself.”

“The Jiang Family? But I don’t want the Jiang Family’s things. They belong to Jiang Bangyuan and Jiang Hao, don’t they?” Bai Ran was absolutely baffled since it was something she had never considered before, taking for herself things that belonged to the Jiang Family.

However, Quan Rui did not respond to Bai Ran’s question. Instead, he continued with his list, “Reinstate your position as an heir to the Jiang Family inheritance. I’ll marry you.”

“…!” Bai Ran only reacted when she heard this. “So, Quan Rui wasn’t joking when he said that he wanted to marry me this afternoon.

“And, the pre-condition of our marriage is that I must be a daughter of the Jiang Family.”
