Mr. He’s Daily Affections - Chapter 43

Su Zhixi savored the taste of the red wine.

Of course it was Young Master He. It could only be him.

Su Zhixi could almost imagine the nonchalant smile on his face…

Perhaps because of the wind, her face felt flushed.

“Young Master He… He Jingyao?” Ning Yichen laughed coldly and clenched his fists.

Even though the Ning family was based in Dongyang City, they dealt with the renowned He family as well. Therefore, he knew a little about He Jingyao.

That man was way ahead of their peers ever since he was an adolescent. His father was full of praise for He Jingyao and had been trying to work with the He family. After all, they had the intention of running for president in the next election, and they could not do without financial support.

He did not think much of it when he heard Su Lianxi say that He Jingyao was going to come for him. But now, He Jingyao had known that he had reserved that wine and had chosen to show him down.

He could not put up with it, despite his mild temperament.

Su Zhixi smiled as she watched the people’s fearful or angry expressions.

“How would I know?” she said without blinking. “I’m not familiar with Young Master He. Even if he were behind this, I have nothing to do with it.”

“Zhixi, what’s going on?” Su Guoan asked with a frown.

“I said I don’t know,” Su Zhixi said with a raised brow. “Didn’t Ning Yichen say that it was targeted at him? They probably gifted me this knowing that I don’t get along with you all. That was their way of showing you down, and I’m a prop at most.”

Ning Yichen frowned. Su Zhixi’s words made sense.

Lin Shuyue was made upset by Su Zhixi’s nonchalant manner. “If it had nothing to do with you, why are you drinking this wine?”

“Why shouldn’t I drink it?” she asked with feigned confusion. “After all, it was specifically gifted to me. I’ve heard that this wine is expensive! It tastes pretty good.”

With that, she took another sip of the wine. Lin Shuyue was exasperated.

Su Lianxi stared deeply at her, trying to figure out if she was lying.

She had never been afraid of Su Zhixi, even if she dared say something to Ning Yichen. But it would be a problem if Young Master He was backing her up.

But it seemed like her half-sister was not that good.

Su Lianxi subconsciously bought into Su Zhixi’s explanation, probably because it was what she wanted to believe.

Su Zhixi smiled. “Do you guys want some? There’s still a lot of the bottle left. I can’t finish it by myself.”

“It’s fine.” Su Lianxi glared at her. “You can enjoy it slowly!”

Ning Yichen held Su Lianxi’s hand apologetically. “Lianxi, I’m sorry.”

Su Lianxi feigned a smile. “It’s fine. I know it’s not your fault.”

But she felt uncomfortable.

She assumed that she would be the hotshot of the city when she started dating Ning Yichen. Little did she expect to be shown up by Su Zhixi. She was disappointed that Ning Yichen was not as invincible as she had expected.

Of course, Ning Yichen could tell that Su Lianxi was really unhappy.

But he only backed down because of the way the Ning family operated, not because of a difference in status. He could not be high-handed and forceful.

A temporary concession did not mean that he was a pushover or that he would let this slide.

But how should he explain that to Su Lianxi?
