As a result, the broadcast club had made its mark in A University.
The principal even commended them personally.
The first interview of ‘Influential Figures’ had garnered overwhelming support from the school. Many had contacted the club to express their interest for an interview.
And that included some prominent figures in the society.
For the first time in history, a school club had caused such a huge sensation.
Everyone in the club had become popular.
And without a doubt, the main interviewer, Xia Yangyang had been at the heart of the sensation.
At first, she didn’t really mind.
Until everyone began to gossip about her family, background, and even rumors of her being a mistress spread around.
During lunch, Wen Xiaochu showed Xia Yangyang the rumors that had been circulating. “Everyone is gossiping that the reason why Gu Qichen accepted your interview was because you’re his mistress. Yangyang, the rumors are getting out of hand. Should you clarify?”
Xia Yangyang was eating her favorite pork ribs.
She merely looked at her and replied nonchalantly, “Forget it. The truth will prevail someday. These rumors will disappear over time.”
Wen Xiaochu sighed aloud. “All you know is to eat right now. Your major is journalism, don’t you know that a repeated rumor will become a fact? I think someone is jealous of you, and he or she is deliberately trying to destroy you. How could you be so tolerant?”
Xia Yangyang wasn’t being tolerant nor nonchalant, she was certain that someone had started this rumor and was controlling its orientation.
The first post was anonymous. Subsequent posts and comments hit thousands shortly.
Xia Yangyang was clear that Guan Xuer had something to do with these rumors.
The rumors of her being a mistress spread like wildfire.
When she walked around the campus, everyone would throw her speculative or strange looks.
Xia Yangyang thought that she could ignore them. But as time went by, the rumors poked at her relentlessly and everyone seemed to be criticizing her all day, which made her bothered and gloomy.
At night, she went to the library to revise. Hushed whispers surrounded her without an end.
Xia Yangyang could hear her name being whispered and words such as mistress.
She could no longer stay at the quietest place on campus.
She stowed away her stuff and planned to go back to Maple Pavilion Manor.
She had just left the gates when she suddenly recalled that Gu Qichen was coming back home today.
Unconsciously, Xia Yangyang took out her phone to check the flight details.
The last flight for the day would land in half an hour.
The journey from school to the airport was also half an hour away.
After a brief hesitation, she flagged a taxi and headed to Fengcheng City airport.
The plane hadn’t landed when she got there.
The delay was caused by bad weather conditions.
Since she had already reached the airport, she decided to wait in the arrival area for him.
Who knew that it would be a four hour wait.
Gu Qichen finally exited the plane at midnight, and Xia Yangyang was fast asleep on a chair.
She was gently woken up by Gu Qichen.
Xia Yangyang fluttered her eyelids sleepily and a handsome face greeted her.
She became wide awake instantly and rubbed her eyes hastily. “You’re here? I came to pick you up.”
Gu Qichen noticed that Xia Yangyang wasn’t being her normal self, and so his voice became gentle and soft. “Why didn’t you send me a text?”
Xia Yangyang grinned sheepishly at him. “I wanted to surprise you. But in the end, I fell asleep. Oh yeah, how did you find me?”
Gu Qichen removed his blazer and put it on Xia Yangyang’s shoulders. “You have an ugly sleeping posture. It would be hard for me not to spot you.”
Xia Yangyang was speechless…
Actually, the arrival area was crowded when Gu Qichen exited the gates.
Nonetheless, he still spotted Xia Yangyang almost instantly. She was fast asleep and huddled like a little kitten in a corner, oblivious to the people and noise around her.
At that moment, it seemed as though a feather had landed on his heart. His heart had softened.
How long had this lass been waiting?
