Morning, the Heir - Chapter 140

Leng Yihuang stressed those three characters unmindfully and those dark eyes of his looked at her ambiguously. The tension caused by his condescending attitude made Lin Xiaomi’s body tighten.

As if she had done something shameful, she couldn’t help feeling guilty.

So she took the initiative to confess, “Don’t look at me like that. I’ve got nothing to do with him. There’s nothing between us.”

Leng Yihuang let go of the hand that pressed her. His soft and cold finger gently touched her cheek. His casualness could make any woman surrender without putting up a fight. Lin Xiaomi felt like a viper was flicking its tongue in her direction.

She explained hurriedly, “You’ve gotta believe me. There’s really nothing between him and me. I hate his guts.”

Leng Yihuang said lazily, “Tang Fengmo told me that Xue Haolin was concerned about you. He’s been asking around about you. How do you feel about it? Are you touched, hmm?”

The vocal pitch of his creaky and dull voice went up, which made Lin Xiaomi tremble uncontrollably.

She shook her head forcibly, “No, no, not at all! When he hurt me, he never showed me any mercy. Now he’s pretending that he cares about me. It’s too late. Why would I be touched? They killed my dearest grandma. There’s no way that I’ll ever forgive them! No way! No way!”

Leng Yihuang’s eyes were fixated on her. His gaze was so sharp that it felt like he could see through her.

Seeing how resolved she was, he reached out to wipe his silver mask and sounded disgusted, “Alright, alright, don’t get so worked up. You spit all over my mask.”

Lin Xiaomi’s brain worked fast, “Then take it off. I’ll wash it for you.” Her gaze met his before it dodged and her voice grew weaker and weaker until it faded away between her lips.

Looking at her with an evil smile, Leng Yihuang slightly lowered his body which now covered her body. And his strong chest outlined her delicate hourglass figure.

Lin Xiaomi trembled slightly and heard him talking in her ear, “What is pillow talk? I’m curious. Let me experience it.”

Words failed Lin Xiaomi and she dare not look him in the eye: Damn Tang Fengmo! Did he have to tell him everything?

“I, I was kidding.” Lin Xiaomi blushed and when she reached out to push his chest away, Leng Yihuang turned over and lay next to her.

The moment she tried to rise from the bed, he wrapped his long and strong arm around her waist.

“You…”

“Shh, don’t talk. Just lie down here with me.” As he said lazily, Leng Yihuang closed his eyes and pretty soon his breathing became regular.

Obediently, Lin Xiaomi lay beside him and listened to his even breathing. When she turned her head around, she saw that mysterious silver mask. He should be sleeping right now. And they were so close. She’d only need to take it off gently to find out what he looked like.

But…

When Lin Xiaomi hesitantly reached out for the mask, her hand stopped two centimeters from it.

He said that marrying him would be like opening a Pandora’s box. She wasn’t exactly sure what he meant by that. Perhaps taking off his mask would also be like opening a Pandora’s box?

She panicked.

Swiftly she drew back her hand and shut her eyes, feeling both upset and remorseful.

Who exactly was he? What did he marry her for?

Opening the door, Wen Jing saw Lin Qingtian standing outside and she felt overjoyed.

“Qingtian, it’s been a long time since you last came.” Wen Jing ushered him in with delight and took out a pair of slippers.

Lin Qingtian looked at her indifferently and impatience could be seen in his eyes, “Did Xiaomi contact you?”

Wen Jing’s smile froze.

It was a while ago since he last came here but the moment he was in, the first thing he asked about was Lin Xiaomi. He even didn’t notice her pale and slightly morbid face.

But after what happened last time, even though she was unhappy about it, she dare not speak it out.

She brought him a cup of tea and said tactfully, “No, she didn’t. I don’t know where she is. I can’t get through to her and she isn’t at home. I go to her apartment every day but I never see her there.”

“Since you don’t know where she is, why did you tell me to come?” Lin Qingtian growled impatiently and was ready to leave.

Wen Jing put her arms around his waist from behind, “Qingtian, don’t go! Stay here with me tonight, okay? I hardly see you recently. I miss you. And there’s something I want to tell you.”

While she spoke, a trace of a blush could be seen on her pale face.

But before she even started, Lin Qingtian had broken free from her hug mercilessly and turned around just to look at her coldheartedly, “Whatever it is that you want to tell me, wait till you find out where Xiaomi is.”

Wen Jing felt like cold water had been thrown on her joy, “So is there nothing else between us except for Xiaomi? I know you’re worried, but I’m doing my best here. What else can I do if she doesn’t want me to know where she is?”

Lin Qingtian looked at her indifferently, “I told you to stay by her side so that you’d keep an eye on her. But you’ve failed me. How can I entrust you with anything when you couldn’t even do that?”

Lin Qingtian left the apartment without ever turning back, leaving Wen Jing standing heartbrokenly by the door. She screamed hysterically, “Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!”

Why was there always a place for Lin Xiaomi in his heart? She’d been there for him for so many years. Didn’t she mean anything to him? Was she just nothing to him?

Sadly, Wen Jing turned around, looking at the Diagnose and Treatment Manual together with a lab test report which she had put on the desk on purpose.

She deliberately put it on the most obvious place, but he still failed to notice it, because he didn’t care if she was sick or not.

Wen Jing slowly turned the manual to where the lab test report was. She just came back from the hospital. She was pregnant.

She had meant to give him a nice surprise but now it seemed he wouldn’t care at all.

Covering her underbelly with her warm palm, Wen Jing decided not to tell him.

She would give birth to this child. Now that it was just an embryo, he might tell her to abort it, but if it were a living child, he would surely accept it.

Just then, her phone suddenly started to ring. Looking at Lin Xiaomi’s name in astonishment, Wen Jing picked it up immediately.

“Xiaomi?” Wen Jing asked tentatively.

“Yeah, it’s me. Wen Jing, I’m sorry. My phone was dead. I just saw that you called me many times.” Lin Xiaomi’s voice came through from the other end.

“Where are you? I was worried sick. I go to your apartment every day. Had you not called me today, I would have called the police.”

Lin Xiaomi felt very sorry, “Wen Jing, don’t worry. I’m doing okay. I can’t really explain it on the phone. It’s too complicated. But I’m fine, so don’t worry. I’ve found someone who can help me avenge.”
