MMORPG: The Leveling Specialist - Chapter 51

A Rogue had to always know the target’s detection range while trailing them under Stealth. A skilled Rogue would never wander into the target’s detection range. Knowing the opponent’s detection range was a probing process. The simplest of mistakes would expose their whereabouts.

The Spying Eye was a light green wooden stick. It was materialized with magic elements. There was a green eye on the top of the wooden stick that would scan its surroundings continuously. The green light of the eye was eerie. It was as if it was all-seeing and nothing could hide from it gaze.

30 yards, 29 yards, 28 yards, 27 yards. Lin Fei’s palms started to sweat. Her job was to first find out what the Spying Eye’s detection range was. Then, they should keep at the edges of the Spying Eye’s detection range. Once Tian Kuang and the others launched their attacks, she would be able to sneak up upon the Poison Wizard and the other spellcasters.

Ordinary spellcasters would usually be rendered powerless when sneaked up on by a Rogue. This was because a Rogue had powerful controlling abilities and could deal high single-target damage. Spellcasters with short health bars could not stand up to them.

The process was perilous at best. Although the Spying Eye’s detection range was fixed, the uneven terrain complicated things. The Spying Eye’s detection range was now not a perfect circle. If she stepped into it by accident, it would be equivalent to exposing herself.

The most eye-catching among their targets was the golden skeleton. The golden skeleton looked imposing with its two meters in height. It was covered in thick and heavy golden armor. Its body and the back of its skull were completely covered. Fully armed, it looked like a general from the Roman Empire. Only its skeletal face was exposed with its strange glowing red eyes. It wielded a scarlet scythe which was more than three meters long. Its blade was also dripping with thick blood.

The summoning medium for the golden skeleton was difficult to come by. Some Necromancers might not even be able to obtain a golden skeleton before their first class advancement at level 30. Usually, they would only be bringing silver skeletons. A golden skeleton’s combat strength was not inferior to a level 20 Barbarian Warrior’s. Its attack, defense, and HP were not low, either.

A large herd of Boars was glaring at these Evil Alliance players. There were about a dozen of them. They wanted to chase away these outsiders, but the huge stature of the golden skeleton which walked in front of the players made them hesitate.

“Wow, there’s quite a lot of monsters here. I think we won’t be able to get to where we want to go without clearing this place,” said the Orc Warrior. He walked forward and stood beside the golden skeleton.

The leading Poison Wizard glanced at the map, and said, “There’s still a long way to go to the deepest parts of the cave. Looks like we have no choice but to kill monsters all the way. These Boars are one thing, but there’s a Demon Boar King at the end of the cave. That’s the key.”

“It’s only a level 22 quasi-Boss, killing it will be a piece of cake,” said the Elemental Mage disapprovingly.

The Poison Wizard eyed the Elemental Mage with a disgruntled look. “Don’t forget that it’s a demonic creature. Also, its hide is strengthened and has a high resistance to shadow spells. The Shadow Wizard and I are useless against it. Your elemental attacks will only have 90% of their effect on it.”

The Elemental Mage’s cheeks turned a shade of pink. He continued to quibble. “With the golden skeleton here, we’ll have three powerful melee classes. No matter what, I think we’ll be stronger than a level 22 Boss.”

The Poison Wizard coldly said, “I don’t care if you’re willing to follow my orders, the guild assigned you to us, and you’ll have to work with us. If the guild makes you the leader, I won’t have any objections, and will hand over the position to you.”

The Elemental Mage opened his mouth to retort, but the Necromancer gave him a cold look. “Shut up. You have no place to speak here.”

The Elemental Mage seemed to be afraid of the Necromancer. He sheepishly closed his mouth. The Poison Wizard cast the Necromancer a dull look. In his eyes, although the Elemental Mage had good operation skills, he was only a clown in the corner. However, the Necromancer was different. He did not know why, but he felt a sense of fear and respect toward the Necromancer as well. This was because he was too powerful. Although he usually kept to himself, it was difficult to meet his sharp gaze constantly hidden under the dark cloak.

“Let’s pick up the pace. It’ll be troublesome if we’re discovered by the Angelic Alliance players.” The Necromancer stuffed his black staff into his bag and took out a pale white staff. The bone-like staff was covered in mottled cracks. There was a white skull at the top of the staff. The skull’s eyes flashed with red light and its jaws clicked as it let out a sharp laugh. “My friend, you’re in need of my help again, kakaka. You should take me out more often. It’s too stuffy in your bag. It’s hard to breathe in there.”

Its strange voice sent a chill down Lin Fei’s spine as she stayed hidden in the darkness. She opened up her chat with Tian Kuang. “Their target is the Demon Boar King. There’s something fishy about that Necromancer. I think he has a Legendary staff. It might even be an Artifact.”

The Necromancer was irritated by its chattering. “Shut up,” he said to the skull-studded staff in a cold voice.

“How rude. Is this how you’re supposed to treat the greatest Necromancer on Endace Continent? Moreover, the said Necromancer has become an immortal Lich.” The skull’s jaws opened and closed. Its sharp and hoarse voice sounded like a saw on wood.

“The greatest Necromancer is Sandro. Also, you did not evolve into a Lich. You’re only a defect. I’ll break your skull off the top of this staff if you keep talking,” said the Necromancer with an infuriated tone.

“Oh, my cute friend. To think that you’re calling Sandro the greatest Necromancer—” The skull on top of the staff seemed to want to say something, but when it saw the Necromancer’s cold eyes, it quickly closed its mouth.

The Poison Wizard found it strange that the Necromancer was talking to the skeleton staff. He felt a chill run down its spine. He did not even have this feeling back in the Toxic Swamp.

When he saw the Necromancer producing the Lockheed Soul Staff, he knew that this was the signal to attack. The Rogue activated his Stealth and moved toward the Boars.

“Let’s go,” said the Necromancer. The Poison Wizard was stunned when he heard this. There was a group of Boars before them, so how were they supposed to pass?

 “ROAR!” the Orc Warrior howled.

 Berserker Stance!

His body swelled. Under the effects of Berserker Stance, the Orc Warrior’s attacks and critical hit rate increased dramatically. However, the damage he took would also be increased by 10%.

The golden skeleton’s eyes burst with red light. It brandished its huge scythe and charged at the Boar herd. The Orc Warrior followed the skeleton closely.

When he saw the Rogue and Orc Warrior disregarding his orders, a venomous look flashed across the Poison Wizard’s eyes. However, he also looked helpless. The Elemental Mage included, the Necromancer was the only one capable of keeping a hold on them.

The Necromancer waved his staff, and mounds started rising on the muddy ground. Pairs of pale skeletal hands emerged. The pale skeletal hands scattered all over the ground gave this area an eerie atmosphere.

“Kakaka, brave ancient warriors of Lockheed, be restored to life! Your great master is summoning you.” The skull on the Lockheed soul staff laughed maniacally. The staff was now enveloped in a red radiance.
