“Great god, are you like super pissed off? You’ve been saying some weird stuff.” UltimateTruth asked.

“Uh, are you guys really journalists?” Li Yao was speechless. They were asking him a lot of weird questions.

“Ahem, he’s a newcomer that I brought along with me. Hope you wouldn’t mind him.” ShadowDay gave UltimateTurth a pull on the sleeve. “What’s your name? Can we be friends?”

Li Yao paused for a moment, he accepted ShadowDay’s friend request. “I’ve heard a lot about you.”

“Turns out it’s the great Liao Yuan.”

“Add me, add me too.” UltimateTruth sent out a friend request to Li Yao in a hurry. “Just now, I thought you were the great StarFire, turns out you’re not him.”

Li Yao was stunned after seeing UltimateTruth’s name. He did not expect to have encountered such a well-known person, he would soon become a successful game journalist in the future.

His most notable work was when he single-handedly screwed up a large guild. There were stories saying members from the guild had framed his mentor. To avenge his mentor, he had been digging up the guild’s scandals for years.

At that time, he was already a famous journalist and his articles were followed by many players. His influence was no less than that of a frontline commentator. The guild’s scandals had floated on the internet for days. For several years, he made various articles and reports making fun of the guild and used them as a negative reference when making comparisons.

The examples that he had made did exist, and the guild used various methods to bring him down. As journalists, they could change their identities and the guild could do nothing about it. In the end, the guild did not disband, but their scandals had reeked their reputation and they were basically in ruins.

Li Yao heard that this person had contacts with many expert players. Right before Li Yao was reborn, UltimateTruth was already one of the top ten journalists in the game. He was not just top ten in China, but also selected by all other races.

He did not expect this big figure of a reporter to be so naïve.

Li Yao smiled and accepted his friend request. “You were talking about StarFire? Both of us are buddies.”

“Next time when we have the chance, you can introduce him to us.” After ShadowDay said so, he realized that he was coming off a little rude. They had just met and he was already making a request. “If it’s inconvenient, please don’t mind me.”

“It’s just a small matter, we will have the chance.” Li Yao nodded in acknowledgement. It was important for him to build a good rapport with a good journalist.

“That’s very much appreciated.” Shadow was grateful. “I didn’t expect the great god player to be so skilled but so easy-going with people.”

“Hey, hey, why are you two having a chat right now? The Boss is going to be killed by them!” UltimateTruth was getting anxious and he pointed at the Boss. “Liao Yuan, you have worked so hard to kill the Boss just to have your kill taken away by others. This is the first kill, but why are you so chill?”

Li Yao snapped back to reality and looked at the Boss that only had a little Health left. “Let them have their way, it will save me a great deal of effort.”

“Great god, what are you talking about?” Ultimate could not understand what he was saying.

“That’s enough, stop babbling on. The great god has his own plans, just wait and see.” Shadow was old-fashion, and from Li Yao’s reaction, he was certain of his judgement.

The members of Getaway Studios were a group of experts with unparallel co-ordination. The Boss only had one working arm and was unable to unleash his skill. They were still able to hold him down even though they were Level 2, and they still had their high-grade equipment on. As long as they did not take off their equipment, they would be able to finish him off in no time.

Their combat power did not have much of an impact. The crippled Boss was killed while Li Yao was having a conversation with the two journalists. His Health was emptied to zero.

“Over, it’s really over!”

“We got the Boss’s first kill!”

“Amazing! Getaway Studios is invincible!”

“Purple equipment, purple equipment!”

“You guys just wait and see. The world announcement is coming up soon. We got the Boss’s first kill.”

A group of Getaway Studios members began to spam messages on all major channels, livening up the major public forums.

A stone casted would cause thousands of ripples. People started asking them about their achievement, and some were envious, jealous and hated them. News of Getaway Studios taking down the first Boss kill spread like wildfire.

“Dude, thanks.” GetawayThirdBro could not hide his smugness and waved at Li Yao.

Li Yao smiled and waved back. “Dude, no need to thank me. We’re all gamers and we’re supposed to help each other out when the other is in trouble. Don’t you think so?”

ThirdBro’s smile stiffened. Deep inside, he was cursing at Li Yao. ‘Are you f*cking crazy? I took away your Boss kill, and we’re supposed to be enemies. This doesn’t feel right.’

He was not bothered to figure it out and blurted instead, “A friend that has good senses. From now on, you’re a good friend to everyone from Getaway Studios.”

“That’s too modest of you. I didn’t expect the the great second regiment leader of Getaway Studios to be so gracious.” Li Yao turned to the two jounalists. “Look, this is how people from a well-known studio should behave. All men are brothers! I did not believe it until I saw it for myself!”

UltimateTruth’s jaw dropped. ‘What is this? Aren’t you supposed to be enemies? Why are you guys acting like such good brothers?’

ShadowDay contained his laughter and muttered, “Film this, film this! If this gets on the internet it will go viral.”

Li Yao puckered his lips and gave them a kind reminder, “Dude, don’t feel happy just yet. Why is the Boss still alive?”

“What?”

ThirdBro had his back faced against the Boss. Members from Getaway Studios were busy staring at their screens bragging while waiting for their colourful announcement banner.

Hearing Li Yao’s words, he felt chills up his spine. “Dude, this joke isn’t funny!” He frowned.

Li Yao nodded with all seriousness. “I agree with the way you see things, but this isn’t a joke. It’s the truth.”

“Psycho.”

Just as ThirdBro muttered, suddenly a mechanical click was heard.

ThirdBro had a gut feeling that something was not right. He turned his head and saw the tattered body of the puppet ablazed in fire and charging toward the crowd like a train.

“Move aside!”

ThirdBro shouted in exasperation. After they had killed the Boss, most of the team members were grouped up together. They were still enjoying the messages of worship and hatred sent by other players in the major channels. They had yet to react when they heard ThirdBro’s yelling.

They were feeling relaxed. After failing twice, they were originally low on morale. But after taking down the Boss, they immediately felt proud and could not wait to start showing off everywhere.

No one would have thought that the once dead Boss would start moving.

Berserk Rip!

The battered puppet tore out his metal armor while dashing toward the crowd. Large pieces of metal debris were sent flying everywhere around his body.

Poof, poof, poof…

With the flying of metal pieces, players fell onto the ground and disappeared with white light.

Boom…

In the end, the puppet slammed into two expert players from Getaway Studios whose faces were still covered in shock.

Then, like a metal storm, the dense steel fragments shot out everywhere along with an explosion, as if a missile had exploded.

The entire cave rumbled violently.

The last bit of debris was too dense. Even if players from Getaway Studios were Superman, they still would not be able to escape from such close-range explosion.

Everything happened in an instant. The remaining players were blasted away by the explosion and disintegrated into white light in mid-air. Their souls had returned to a nearby graveyard and their broken body parts were scattered everywhere like rag bags.

Coincidentally, ThirdBro rolled on the ground beneath Li Yao’s feet. He was quick to react, but he only had few Health Points left. His entire body was scorched black and looked completely different from the proud person he was earlier.

“Gasp. You tricked me you prick!”

Li Yao replied sincerely, “Dude, I gave you a heads-up, okay. Besides, friends are supposed to help one another. I helped you earlier, and you’re helping me now, how nice of you. This is a sincere friendship. Honestly, I haven’t been so moved in years.”

ThirdBro quivered as he took out a bottle of Beginner’s Health Potion. Li Yao stepped on his arm and the potion was flung off. It rolled away.

“What’s the meaning of this?” ThirdBro struggled to sit up, a cold glint flashed in his eyes.

Li Yao drew a big sword from his back and slashed ThirdBro’s neck. “What do you mean? I’m helping you to return to the city. Dude, safe journey, no need to thank me.”

Ugh…

ThirdBro only had a few drops of Health left. With a swing of the blade, he was decapitated and his head rolled off to the side, his eyes still glaring at Li Yao. Even though he was dead, his expression was still full of anguish and disbelief.

ShadowDay and UltimateTruth felt a sudden chill seeing the grin on Li Yao’s face. Earlier, he was still smiling while calling him a brother. Next second, he had him decapitated.

Although it was just in the game, but it was a rare sight to see someone use such a cruel tactic. No need to mention that the person killed would be left with a psychological trauma, even the person cutting off the head would throw up for the entire day.

But when they looked at Li Yao, he did not bother to pick up the equipment dropped by members of Getaway. Instead, he dashed toward the Boss with the big sword. It was a gruesome sight.

Something was not right. The imagery was not right. He was a Hunter, but he was not using bow and arrow. Instead, he ran toward the Boss with a sword.

Both journalists were back to their senses, but they were still confused. From Li Yao’s aggression earlier, no one would believe that Li Yao who was always grinning was a kind person anymore. He was simply a smiling tiger with his claws hidden away.

Li Yao was not insane for going against the Boss in such a way. He already had everything thought out.

The second stage Mok’rash was a long-range monster. He would use Explosive Barrels and Lethal Shot, and his attacks were not weaker than the puppet in the slightest.

Without the puppet’s restraint, Mok’rash’s agility was terrifying. There was no need to estimate the outcome when going up against this Boss.

World of Ancient God encouraged players to go solo, and they would take care of those players.

They would not let solo players who had the skills, but not a good team, not be able to increase their combat power. Hence, they had set a lot of special settings in the game.

For instance, when a solo player solos a Boss, there would be a hidden mechanism called skill breaking.

After breaking the Boss’s skills for some time, the Boss would be either frozen or knocked down. Similarly, the Boss also had skill breaking mechanism toward the player. If the player did not grasp the timing correctly when using a skill, the Boss would be able to break the player’s skills. Once broken by the Boss, players would be down for two seconds. During that two seconds, the player would be instant killed by the Boss.

Besides that, after skill breaking, the Boss’s or player’s defense would be lowered by a big portion. Attacks during the freezing period would increase the attack’s effect significantly, which was no less than a fatal blow to the weak spot. Moreover, the attack would definitely be a critical damage and was several times higher than the usual attack damage.

It was not easy to execute a skill break. First, to execute a successful skill break, players must know when the Boss would unleash its attack.

Since every skill was different, the timing and position of skill breaking were different.

Next, the chance for a skill break would often be very brief and difficult to grasp.

Again, even if mastered, players must not miss the timing. Or else, it would mean a painful death and suffer a drop in Level.

Despite having this mechanism, players who could really execute skill break well were as rare as a phoenix. Basically, no player would use skill break when dealing with a wild Boss. The risk of dropping a Level was too great.

To really have a deeper understanding of the Boss, it could not be achieved by just dealing with the Boss once or twice.

Other than that, the most important thing was that the player’s reaction speed must be quick enough. This alone, 99.99% of players were not qualified for it. Back then, many expert players and ordinary players tried to gain fame by soloing Bosses, but they all ended up with a tragic death.

“Dead buggers! It’s you, I’m going to kill you!”

The monster, now shrouded in dark aura, was two yards away with a large caliber pistol in his hand. One would not be able to tell what race this monster was before, his reddened eyes were staring at Li Yao coldly.

Bang…

When the gunshot sounded, Li Yao did a Shadow Flip to dodge the bullet.

Seeing that Li Yao had flipped to the Boss’s side, UltimateTruth shouted, “It’s over, it’s over! There’s no way he can dodge the Boss’s next shot at such close distance!”

“Cut your crap! Focus in finding a different filming angle and start shooting,” said ShadowDay. Somehow deep inside, he had a feeling that he would soon witness a new way of fighting…
