Metal Evolution - Chapter 26

The sea breeze brushed past slowly, carrying the scent of the sea and blowing into the depths of the deserted island. Halfway up the mountain on the right side, it was a mess with potholes everywhere.

Crushed stones and broken tree trunks were in plain sight, and blue-colored blood gathered and formed a small river. It gave off a strange, fishy smell which was similar to ammonia water.

Roar~~

The sickle-headed monster lay on the ground as it wailed in a mournful and tyrannical voice. Its right leg was broken and there was massive blood loss, which made it seriously injured. While it whined on the ground, its tyrannical eyes stared at Xue Yue intensely and even crawled forward with its four main limbs.

It was slowly climbing towards Xue Yue!

It wanted revenge!

The distance between them was around 15 meters and the moment it was decreased to 10 meters, its main limb could attack Xue Yue!

“Ophf—”

Xue Yue spat out a mouthful of blood and endured severe pain all over his body. He retracted his spikes, kicked Nitrell to one side, and struggled to climb out the big hole in an attempt to escape the opposite side. With his current injuries, he would be a goner if he received a single attack from the monster.

The direction of his escape was the opposite of the pool, and also the direction where Nitrell appeared.

With its four main limbs supporting its crawl, the monster’s speed was not slow and the distance between two sides decreased as time passed. Xue Yue clutched onto his bleeding chest and ran forward. A burst of dizziness and severe pain stimulated his brain nerves and he was sweating buckets, seemingly about to faint at any moment.

Whoosh—

Xue Yue ran forward with all his might, but the surrounding weeds that reached his waist had seriously hindered his speed, and all of a sudden—

He tripped over something and he immediately fell down. Coincidentally, there was a steep slope in front and he continuously rolled down. He did not know how long it lasted before he could no longer feel the gravity and his body began to descend and do a free fall.

“The… the sinkhole?”

Xue Yue even had the thought of dying. He had unexpectedly rolled into the sinkhole and with his current situation, he would definitely turn into paste if he were to crash.

However, he was powerless to stop his fall!

At that moment, when the sickle-headed monster finally crawled over and saw Xue Yue falling into the sinkhole, it burst into rage and its four limbs repeatedly slammed the ground without a care for its condition to vent anger.

In a flash, the surrounding area was in a mess with gravel scattering in all directions, weeds flying, and the mountains rolling.

All of a sudden, its limbs that were randomly slamming the ground seem to have struck something. The sound of metal and iron clashing could be heard and shortly after, an incomparably bright blinding light was emitted and it turned into a small-sized sun.

Boom!

Dazzling light enveloped the sickle-headed monster, accompanied by a roar that resounded through the heavens and earth. A small mushroom cloud rose into the sky and the powerful shockwave spread in all directions like ripples on the water’s surface. The rocks and vegetation were all blown to dust.

In a short moment, half of the right side of the mountain disappeared.

Countless rubble was pushed into the sky by the explosion before falling and splattering all over the deserted island. Even Helen who was a few kilometers away had been hit by several stones.

“An explosion?”

Helen dodged the flying stones and her face paled in shock. “What happened over in Xue Yue’s direction? Why did an explosion happen?”

Xue Yue found himself tumbling down the hillside and unluckily fell into the sinkhole once again. He did not know how deep he had fallen. Was it 1,000 meters? Or 1,500 meters?

All of a sudden, he felt his descent had stopped, seeming to have been grabbed by something!

“Go-goldie?”

He turned his head with great difficulty. When he saw what had grabbed him, a trace of joy surfaced on Xue Yue’s pale face. At a critical moment, Goldie had arrived!

“Thank God!”

In fact, Goldie who treated Xue Yue as a food source would never allow him to leave its line of sight. When Xue Yue went forward to distract the monster, Goldie had also followed behind him.

While Xue Yue was fighting with the monster, Goldie merely looked at one side. When he was ambushed by Nitrell, Goldie nearly attacked him, but ultimately endured it for some unknown reason.

When Xue Yue fell into the sinkhole, Goldie instantly appeared and saved him.

“Goldie, you’ve saved me once again!”

Just as Xue Yue thought he was finally safe, an earth-shattering explosion suddenly occurred outside the sinkhole. The surrounding ground was leveled. A large amount of gravel fell from the sky and into the sinkhole.

Gravels of different sizes had turned into a meteorite shower as they crashed down. If he were to be hit by any…

Goldie was as fast as lightning as it held onto Xue Yue and avoided left and right between the gaps. It maneuvered around with ease and had evaded all the falling stones.

Whoosh—

Finally, after the explosion ended, rocks no longer fell. Goldie grabbed Xue Yue and shot straight out of the sinkhole.

The exit was somewhat blocked and Goldie spread its wings. Its wings covered with black scales suddenly stretched out like two sharp blades and easily cut a big hole through the blocked exit.

Upon escaping the sinkhole once again, Xue Yue felt as if he had a new lease on life. However, when he was flying in the air and saw the surroundings of the sinkhole, he stiffened!

It was complete chaos!

The mountain seemed to have been cut off in the middle and the peak disappeared. A huge hole appeared in a radius of hundreds of meters and the surroundings were scorched black due to high temperatures. And somewhere not far away lay a huge corpse that was reminiscent of sand.

The corpse in question was the sickle-headed monster.

“What was that explosion earlier?” Xue Yue’s brain could not process the situation. It was fine earlier, so why did an explosion happen? Could it be that the monster self-detonated?

But it doesn’t make sense!

Xue Yue had no idea that he had a close brush against the god of death!

After he dropped into the sinkhole, the sickle-headed monster wantonly destroyed the surroundings to vent its anger. At a certain moment, it happened to accidentally hit the flying motorcycle Nitrell had parked on one side!

That car was a new type of nuclear fusion-powered vehicle and the power source was a small nuclear reactor.

Upon receiving a strong impact, the nuclear reactor exploded. Even though the size was smaller than a fist, there was a nuclear fusion reaction happening inside.

Any explosion that was related to a nuclear reaction could not be underestimated!

The fist-sized nuclear reactor explosion was sufficient to destroy hundreds of meters of its surrounding area. As a result, the whole mountain was directly cut in half and a big hole appeared around it!

Fortunately, Xue Yue had fallen into the sinkhole. Otherwise, he would have been in the center of the explosion!

Another fortunate thing was that the nuclear reactor contained in the flying motorcycle was only so big. If it was any larger, and there were more nuclear fuel, it would not be an issue to flatten the entire deserted island!

Of course, the most fortunate thing was that nuclear fusion reaction was different from nuclear fission reaction, where its radiation was extremely small. Coupled with the small nuclear reactor on the flying motorcycle, the nuclear radiation was even much smaller. If it was a nuclear fission reaction, based on the earlier explosion, the entire deserted island would have become an area polluted by radiation where it would be impossible to live.

And as for this incident, Xue Yue did not have the slightest idea of it!

Goldie’s speed was very fast as it flew all the way to the shore with Xue Yue.

“Xue Yue!” Helen burst into tears upon seeing Xue Yue’s return and directly jumped over. However, when she realized the state he was in, her expression changed. “You… what happened to you?”

“Haha!” Xue Yue looked pale and he barely managed to reveal a smile. “I was attacked earlier on…”

He did not conceal anything and recounted everything that happened earlier.

“Why did this happen?”

“You said that the man who attacked you… is called Nitrell·Satan?” Helen opened her mouth wide and stared at Xue Yue.

“That’s right. His name was Nitrell·Satan!” Xue Yue hissed as his chest hurt.

“Satan… Satan… by this his surname is… Satan!” Helen lost her voice. “Xue Yue, you’ve caused huge trouble!”

Xue Yue suddenly looked up and said, “What’s wrong now?”

“The Satan Family is a very powerful family among the elite class. They are even stronger than the Aonas Family!” Helen shook her head and said, “Even though the Aonas Family is also in the elite class, they are ultimately a family that runs businesses. However, the Satan Family is a Superhuman family!”

“Superhuman family?”

“All the members of this family will awaken their superpowers upon reaching adulthood… therefore practically everyone from their family are all Superhumans. Moreover, they have members ranked in the temple!”

“…”

Xue Yue looked at Helen in a daze and revealed a bitter smile after a long time. “Consider me unlucky to have gotten ambushed for no reason and killed the culprit. What’s worse is that he is a person with a strong background!” Xue Yue did not know what else to say.

What could he possibly say when he was unlucky to such an extent?

“Well, I’m afraid you can only proceed with caution!” Helen shook her head firmly. “But you can rest assured that I won’t let anyone hurt you!”

“Haha!” Xue Yue no longer spoke and laid down on the ground as he was too lazy to move!

The hole in his chest no longer bled and the wound was healing at a speed visible to the naked eye while new flesh started to grow. It would probably take a short while and he would be completely healed.

However, he was gradually losing his physical strength as he felt that all his strength seemed to be sucked away, causing him to turn weaker by the minute and his complexion also got paler.

“Even though the wound can heal itself, it consumes a large amount of strength!” Xue Yue did not have any choice but to lie down.

“Xue Yue, have a good rest. I’ll fetch some water for you!” Helen stood up.

“But what about your foot?”

“It’s fine…”

The sun began to set to the West as it slowly converged its scorching rays of light. Helen limped towards the stream as she held onto an aluminum can she picked up from the sea. There was nothing but plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and foam garbage over there.

These were all trash washed ashore by the sea!

“Xue Yue, have some water!”

After drinking some water, Xue Yue’s spirit improved quite a bit and his complexion slightly recovered. Lasting until dusk, the hole in his chest finally disappeared without a trace.

“Helen, let’s return to the pool to take a look!”

The area of the explosion was rather big, covering hundreds of meters. Xue Yue was worried that the pool would also be affected, so he had to make a trip back!

“Can you move now? If not, we can rest here longer!”

“I’m fine, but I’m somewhat hungry!”
