Meeting You Is My Simple Happiness - Chapter 40

Ye Mu clasped onto Mo Shen’s hand as she let him in. She raised her hand to switch on the light—and perhaps it was because he had come today—she felt that even the light was emitting an indescribably gentle strength as she looked at it.

Entering the room, Mo Shen observed the complete interior decoration inside with both hands stuck in his pockets. Although nowhere near beautiful, it was considered rather comprehensive, so the interior wasn’t too bad.

“Do you want to drink some water?” Ye Mu asked Mo Shen seriously after placing all the things in her hands onto the bed.

Mo Shen shook his head and walked over to the window to pull the curtains open, “No need.”

Even though he said that he didn’t need it, Ye Mu still poured a cup of water. As she stood by the table and watched Mo Shen at the window, she drank that glass of water down herself.

It sounded especially sharp and clear when the glass was placed down in the quiet room. She strolled to the window, stood alongside Mo Shen and glanced out at the moonlit night. The hand resting below her chin tilted towards Mo Shen and she laughed quietly, “Actually, the moon looks quite pretty today.”

Ever since she came, she had been looking at the moon everyday. It had been the same repetitive scene each day but today, she felt that it looked really pretty—round like a dumpling and it even emitted the luminosity of a white jade, so captivating that people could not look away.

She didn’t know why today’s moon looked so beautiful; perhaps it was because the moon was really rounder, smoother and brighter today or perhaps it was because of him. Because he came, everything in her eyes—whether it was unexceptional or ordinary food—caused her to feel that it was remarkably beautiful.

Ye Mu’s side profile was filled with delight. A single glance was enough for others to feel that she was indeed happy at this moment.

“It is very beautiful,” Mo Shen’s line of sight lingered between the moon and her. The magnetic timbre of his voice was extraordinarily rousing in this type of atmosphere.

Ye Mu pursed her red lips and was strangely shy, “Actually… I’m especially happy that you managed to come.”

Indeed, she was so happy that simply looking at the moon outside made her feel that it was laughing too.

Slightly stunned, Mo Shen lowered his head to look at her expression and his own grew gentler. He lifted his hand to caress her cheek and there was intimacy in his tender voice, “Silly.”

“You are silly,” Ye Mu’s hand approached her own cheek and tried to pull his hand down but upon touching him, she stopped moving and only held onto him.

Ye Mu laughed inadvertently and thought about it carefully. She really was a little silly. They clearly had not met in just a few days, yet how come it was like they had not seen each other for a long time?

Ye Mu inclined her face to the side and continued looking out the window, her gaze searching around, “It seems like there are no stars tonight.”

In the entire night sky, she had not found one single star.

Mo Shen glanced outside the window and randomly pointed, “There.”

“Where?” Following his finger, Ye Mu looked over but did not see it. She swept her eyes around earnestly—it seemed like there really was something.

When she saw the star, the earnest expression on her face was tinged with joy and she looked towards him, “It seems like there really…”

She raised her head while he lowered his and when their gazes clashed, the surrounding atmosphere seemed to have halted in its entirety. In such a romantic ambiance, it would have been strange if nothing happened.

The two faces leaned closer and closer to each other. To have the lips meet would be the best way to return the longing that they felt during these two days of separation. On such a quiet and beautiful night, he deserted her lips and asked, “Have you thought clearly about it?”

Her glistening eyes stared fixedly on him, and she nodded, “Mhmm.”

Her affirmative reply caused their lips to plaster against each other once more. This was destined to be a beautiful night.

Next day, her forehead furrowed as she slowly opened her eyes. Thereafter, that unusually handsome face of Mo Shen’s appeared in front of her eyes. Upon seeing him at that moment, her complexion reddened subconsciously.

“Morning,” she whispered as she looked at him, unable to move due to the ache in her body.

Pressed behind the nape of his neck, Mo Shen’s hand twitched slightly and he looked at her with a faint smile, “Morning.”

They were a true, married couple now but Ye Mu no longer had the impetuous urge from last night. Pulling on the comforter, she asked Mo Shen, “What time is it now?”

“10 o’clock,” Mo Shen informed her.

Taken aback, Ye Mu rose flusteredly and not even minding that Mo Shen was there, she got down from the bed—covered with the comforter—and retrieved clothes from the closet, putting them on in a hurry. “I still have a shoot this afternoon. I’m done for. Why didn’t Sister Ji call to remind me?”

It was at nine o’clock in the morning and it was ten o’clock now. She had been late for one full hour. If she went to the filming site now, she would definitely be resented by who-knew-how-many people.

Mo Shen leaned against the headboard and watched her wear her clothes with great enjoyment as he stated leisurely, “This afternoon’s shooting has been canceled.”

As she was wearing her clothes, Ye Mu’s hand froze and she turned her head back to look at Mo Shen somewhat strangely, “How do you know?”

Mo Shen’s profound eyes remained placid, “Your manager sent you a text message.”

Using his status as an investor, he had conveyed the news that there was no need to shoot today, so how could he not know?

Since Mo Shen had said that, Ye Mu no longer doubted him as she pulled her clothes on properly. She walked to the bedside with slight difficulty and felt for her cell phone—there was indeed a text message from Ji An.

“That’s good.” Ye Mu’s heart relaxed slightly. Fortunately, they were really resting for today.

After saying that, Ye Mu’s gaze shifted to Mo Shen, who had been looking at her all this time. Then, she averted her gaze swiftly again.

What should she do? She seemed to be feeling even more awkward than before.

“That…” Pursing her red lips, Ye Mu attempted to speak.

Before her words came out, a series of knocking sounds rang out from outside the door.

Just as Ye Mu was about to pass him by, her arm was pulled to a stop by Mo Shen. He frowned slightly and swept his gaze over Ye Mu’s whole body, “Are you going to open the door in this state?”

Ye Mu lowered her head to look at herself—she hadn’t worn her jacket and her clothes were somewhat disheveled—and avoided Mo Shen’s gaze, “Then… Young Uncle, you can go instead.”

As today was a rest day, Song Zhuochen held a bunch of flowers in his hand as he knocked on Ye Mu’s room door. Since they were resting, if she stayed in the hotel, she wouldn’t go anywhere so they might as well go out for a walk.

When the door opened, the smile on Song Zhuochen’s face stiffened abruptly. His gaze swept over Mo Shen’s tall stature and he even thought that he had walked to the wrong room. He intentionally looked at the room number again. It wasn’t a mistake.

“Who are you?” Song Zhuochen’s tone carried a bit of hostility—that he was oblivious to.

Mo Shen glanced slightly at the flowers in Song Zhuochen’s hand and smiled coldly, “I should be the one asking you.”

Song Zhuochen couldn’t be certain that Mo Shen—in front of him—was the man he had seen with Ye Mu that day and he tried to walk inside, “I’m looking for Ye Mu.”

“Sorry, it’s a little inconvenient for her right now.” Mo Shen stuck both of his hands in his pockets and shifted his feet to the side, obstructing Song Zhuochen’s way with his large frame.

In the room, Ye Mu seemed to have heard Mo Shen talking with someone and it didn’t sound like the hotel staff. She walked out and was blocked by Mo Shen’s height so she couldn’t see anything and could only ask, “Young Uncle, who is it?”

Young Uncle?

Song Zhuochen raised his brow—so, as it turned out, he was just a relative. He had even thought that he was Ye Mu’s boyfriend.

“It’s me,” Song Zhuochen answered from outside. At this instance, the gaze he directed at Mo Shen was distinctly more polite.

Ye Mu walked to Mo Shen’s side and was a little surprised to see Song Zhuochen, “Are you looking for me for something?”

Aside from when they were filming, Ye Mu naturally believed that she had had no interactions with him.

“It’s okay, I just wanted to ask you out for a walk,” Song Zhuochen behaved remarkably like a person this time, as he smiled very happily. After a glance at Mo Shen, he stated, “But it looks like you have no time today.”

Ye Mu looked at Song Zhuochen in puzzlement but she had no time indeed today, and nodded her head.

Mo Shen frowned as he looked at Song Zhuochen. Under this gaze, Song Zhuochen courteously handed the flowers to Ye Mu, “I won’t bother you today. These flowers are for you.”

Ye Mu did not accept this bunch of flowers. Instead, it was as if Song Zhuochen had forced them on her.

“Huh…” Ye Mu stared at Song Zhuochen bewilderedly but before she could say anything, Song Zhuochen looked at Mo Shen extremely courteously and bowed politely while saying, “Young Uncle, I hope that you can forgive me for any transgressions on our first meeting.”

With bemusement written all over her face, Ye Mu gawked at Song Zhuochen’s hastily retreating back profile and looked at the flowers in her hand again. She turned around to ask Mo Shen, “Did he mistake something?”

Mo Shen’s complexion was slightly awful as he closed the door.

Ye Mu watched Mo Shen’s back view as he walked inwards and upon recalling Song Zhuochen’s appearance just now, she seemed to understand something and couldn’t help but laugh aloud.

She carried the flowers in and randomly stuck them into a vase while assessing Mo Shen with her gaze, “Young Uncle, when are you leaving?”

“Do you want me to leave?” asked Mo Shen but he did not answer her question. Encircling her body, his thin lips kissed her slightly exposed shoulders.

Ye Mu bit her lips, “I don’t want you to leave but I know that you have work.”

Mo Shen sighed and lowered his head to press a kiss to her forehead, “I’m leaving tonight.”
