Meeting You Is My Simple Happiness - Chapter 22

Ye Mu felt how ridiculous Ye Qiyi’s words were. Was it possible that, no matter what she did, it would always have something to do with Ye Qiyi and Gu Yiming from now on?

“You’re thinking too much. I studied acting and I want to enter this entertainment circle because I’m passionate about it— not because of you, much less Gu Yiming,” Ye Mu took a deep breath and informed Ye Qiyi of this fact coldly.

“Heh, heh… Passionate about it?” Ye Qiyi laughed coldly. Like a nail, her pair of eyes stared at Ye Mu’s reflection, and said harshly, “Who in this circle didn’t enter because of vanity? Passion? Your reasoning is too laughable.”

“That’s you,” Ye Mu went silent for a few seconds before retorting out loud.

Ye Qiyi’s eyes squinted and she sneered, “How come I didn’t discover that you’re so eloquent before?”

The current Ye Qiyi looked very laughable in Ye Mu’s eyes. Didn’t she start all of this first? How did the blame fall on her at the end?

Ye Mu glanced in Ye Qiyi’s direction, smiling lightly, “Similarly, I hadn’t realized that you could lose your sweet-tempered side before.”

Ye Qiyi’s red lips closed tightly, and her teeth were almost ground to dust in her mouth—but she forced herself to smile, sitting on her seat without moving.

The room was so frighteningly silent and it remained unbroken until a staff member came to inform the two of them to leave.

Ye Qiyi was really a ‘good actor’. From the moment the staff member entered, she had already taken care of her expression and continued maintaining her dignified appearance.

After entering the shooting studio, Ye Mu finally understood why Ye Qiyi didn’t want her to accept this advertisement so badly. It turned out that this commercial belonged to Ou Li. In addition, Gu Yiming was also present today!

The photographer informed everyone to take their positions, but it was tough for Ye Mu to ignore Gu Yiming. Seeing him, her unhealed wound would still throb in pain.

The photographer gestured to Ye Mu to stand to the left but the latter seemed a little absent-minded. The photographer shifted his eyes away from the camera, straightened himself, and raised his voice towards Ye Mu, “Ye Mu, you should stand to the left side!”

Ye Mu returned to her senses abruptly and hurriedly nodded her head in apology. Then she stood in her own position.

Gu Yiming had immediately noticed Ye Mu’s presence when she entered the studio. Ye Mu looked a little different from the usual Ye Mu that he had always seen. The Ye Mu at this moment was slightly polished and beautiful beyond belief.

Ye Qiyi’s eyes stared fixedly at Gu Yiming, even though her expression showed that nothing was amiss. Her fingernails had already started to dig into her palms.

“Okay. Are you ready?” The photographer reminded them as he carefully pushed the camera towards the two of them.

Ji An had told Ye Mu everything about the scenario of this commercial. The creative theme of this advertisement was—youthfulness. Ye Mu’s job was to change into a few sets of appropriate clothing and read out a few lines with a youthful feel.

Once the camera was pushed towards her, Ye Mu immediately threw herself into her work— nothing could distract her anymore.

Her hands were deep into her pockets, her left toe situated in front of her right foot. The straight-cut jeans that she was wearing displayed her long and slender legs. Her face held an innocent smile while her eyes glanced around her surroundings in curiosity as she read out her lines.

The crowd standing behind the camera were exceptionally pleased with Ye Mu’s performance. When she smiled, it seemed to have the power of affecting everyone’s hearts.

Gu Yiming stared at the Ye Mu within the camera, both hands crossed in front of his chest and his hand unconsciously tapped against his thin lips—seemingly thinking of something.

In contrast with Ye Mu’s youthfulness, Ye Qiyi’s forever-gentle appearance caused people to feel weary visually. A distinct disparity was immediately made between the two of them, but Ye Qiyi was oblivious of this difference.

The advertisement was shot in a blink of an eye. After Ye Mu finished with the filming, she bowed politely to the staff and stated, “It’s been a hard day. Thank you for everyone’s care.”

“Miss Ye is too polite.” As a result of this short commercial, everyone seemed to be very satisfied with Ye Mu.

Ye Mu lightly chuckled as she walked out of the studio, so she could prepare to go home.

Just as the doors of the studio closed behind her, a series of footsteps approached her from afar. But it was only until a voice rang out behind her, did she notice that someone was approaching her. “Ye Mu.”

A familiar and pleasant voice caused Ye Mu’s footsteps to halt abruptly. She seemed to be frozen in place, her whole body exceedingly stiff.

“What concerns does Mr Gu have with me?” Ye Mu didn’t know how long it took for her to recover as she relaxed her body and turned around. She tried her best to muster a polite smile on her face.

Gu Yiming continued to move closer to her, indifference was thick in his eyes as he stared right at her and said, “I saw your commercial earlier. You did pretty well.”

Did he come here just to say this?

“Thank you.”Ye Mu turned her head to the side and didn’t return Gu Yiming’s gaze.

But Gu Yiming didn’t mind it as he continued, “I find that you’re very suitable for Ou Li’s commercial. I will get someone to go to New Earth, so we can discuss with them about you being the ambassador.”

“Ambassador?” Ye Mu was shocked by Gu Yiming’s words as she asked in doubt, “Are you saying that you’re going to let me endorse Ou Li’s commercial?”

“Mhmm.” Gu Yiming was usually taciturn and it was the same at this moment. However, seeing the confusion in her expression, he added, “Take it as my compensation to you.”

The last sentence caused Ye Mu’s face to turn bitter as her tone chilled slightly, “There’s no need.”

Ye Mu turned around and tried to leave, but Gu Yiming raised his hand and grabbed her all of a sudden. His thick eyebrows wrinkled tightly, and veins bulged on the back of his hand as his slender lips squeezed out impatiently, “Don’t make it difficult for me. I don’t want to blame myself.”

That’s right. Gu Yiming—who had always been arrogant, and rumored to be cold-blooded—felt guilty at this moment when he saw Ye Mu enter the entertainment industry for a living.

Ye Mu saw that he grabbed her hand and she shook his hand off her fiercely. She had never thought that he would consensually extend his hand towards her one day, or that she would dislodge his hand so resolutely.

“You’re blaming yourself? Sorry, there’s nothing that I can do with that. Please continue to blame yourself.” Ye Mu’s pair of tender eyes were lit by fury as she looked at Gu Yiming, “I’ve really liked the wrong person all these years! You’re so selfish!”

To think that she needed to give in to this kind of ‘charity’ naturally, so that he could feel less reproach about himself.

Gu Yiming’s phoenix-shaped eyes narrowed slightly because of Ye Mu’s words and there was unfathomable darkness within them. Suddenly, he raised his hand and forced Ye Mu into a corner violently. Using a hand to keep Ye Mu under control, his cheek leaned in closer and closer to her. His voice lowered, “Ye Mu. You know I hate it when people say cruel things to me! Let me continue blaming myself? What you’ve done so far isn’t enough.”

Ye Mu frowned as she looked at Gu Yiming—his face kept drawing nearer and nearer. She lifted her palm to swing at his face but she was captured firmly by Gu Yiming. His body pressed Ye Mu tightly against the wall while he lowered his lids to look at her indifferently.

“Get lost!” Ye Mu twisted her head to avoid Gu Yiming’s kiss but before the anticipated kiss could land, she heard a few muffled groans.

When Ye Mu opened her eyes slowly to take a look, Mo Shen’s arm was in front of Ye Mu. His other hand was in a position as though he had just punched someone.

Mo Shen’s punch wasn’t light and it struck Gu Yiming squarely on his face. His body bent over to the side as he wobbled unsteadily upon receiving the punch. He raised his hand and rubbed the blood that leaked from the corner of his mouth.

“Are you okay?” Mo Shen glanced sideways at Ye Mu, his gentle voice giving her an unspeakable sense of security.

Ye Mu nodded blankly. Then, she raised her head and noticed that Gu Yiming was walking over to them. She subconsciously grabbed the hem of Mo Shen’s shirt as she said, “Be careful.”

Gu Yiming was quite tall, yet he still looked slightly inferior in front of Mo Shen. After all, Mo Shen had a formidable aura around him, no matter where he stood or what he was wearing. Gu Yiming stared at Mo Shen with his tightly-knitted forehead and asked, “Do you know who you just punched?”

Ye Mu’s grip on Mo Shen’s shirt tightened as she stood behind Mo Shen. However, Mo Shen merely laughed at Gu Yiming’s words as if he had just told him a ridiculous joke. His thin lips spread open, but his smile was somewhat cold, “Sorry, I don’t know who you are.”

A minor character like Gu Yiming just didn’t exist in Mo Shen’s world.
