Master, I Need Charging - Chapter 57

Chapter 57: Like her

In the RK CEO’s office.

Cheryl reported the results of her investigation to the President solemnly and respectfully.

“Xu Zhicheng is someone with evil intentions but no guts. Huaxin went through Director Wang from Yuanfeng Group to get in touch with him. Zhicheng wanted money and Huaxin wanted hot news on RK. The two collaborated, thus causing the scene that occurred today. I believe there were others too. As to whether they managed to capture what they wanted… We will have to see the news tomorrow.”

Chen Yuheng asked, “Who was Xu Zhicheng collaborating with, in Huaxin?”

Cheryl sieved out a thin case file among the many that she held in her arms, and placed it on Chen Yuheng’s desk. “The Vice President of Huaxin, Lu Qian. This is all the relevant information and curriculum vitae about him.”

Chen Yuheng flipped open the file and roughly browsed through it. “An unaccomplished clown seeking trouble,” He sneered.

Putting down the file in his hand, he briefed Cheryl, “Watch him and see what he is up to.”

Cheryl hesitated slightly before asking, “As for Ms. Pei… Should we also prepare some manpower?”

Pei Lijun…

“This matter probably has nothing to do with her.” Chen Yuheng felt that ten years was enough to really know someone. Moreover, he believed that with the pride Pei Lijun had, she would never let herself resort to such means to get what she wanted.

Cheryl nodded her head and was preparing to leave when Chen Yuheng asked again, “Has the public relations department finished their research on the countermeasures?”

The responsibility of RK’s public relations department was to respond to any negative news about the company.

A peculiar expression flashed across Cheryl’s face before she readily answered, “The public relations department is prepared.”

“Okay,” Chen Yuheng no longer made another sound.

As if she had just been relieved of a burden, Cheryl walked out of the office feeling more relaxed. She thought about how fortunate it was that the devil king had not asked exactly what kind of countermeasures the public relations department had come up with…

Outside the office, Ace was walking over toward her. Behind him, stood an eye-catching, tall, bold and powerful robot.

The corners of Ace’s mouth were arched high up. With a profoundly mysterious smile on his face, he walked into the office just as Cheryl was walking out. His gaze landed on Chen Yuheng.

“I heard about what happened this morning. I know you aren’t used to being followed around by people, so I transferred a Mars over to be your bodyguard instead.” Ace moved to the side. The robot behind him automatically moved two steps forward. Following its movements were the heavy sounds of metal. It stopped in front of Chen Yuheng’s desk.

Originally, Gu Anbao was sitting by the side watching an animated film. When she saw the bold and powerful robot walking into the office, she was shocked and fascinated. Her eyes widened as she looked on, unable to take her eyes off it.

On its pure white and gold body, was a dark blue metal armor that looked indestructible. Its head was similar to a metal helmet, and its eye area was glowing a gentle fluorescent light. The design of its four limbs was filled with power and strength.

She had only seen such a robot on the television. Just recently, a similar type of robot was following behind the head of state of some country. Normally, everyone would term it the police machine, or robocop. She had never heard it being called Mars before.

Chen Yuheng was not that surprised by Mars. He only nodded his head indifferently and said, “Don’t forget to input Ruan Ruan’s information as well under the list of protection targets.”

Ace glanced at Gu Anbao before letting out a cough. “There’s something I would like to talk to you about,” he said.

Chen Yuheng looked at him. “Sure, say it.”

However, Ace responded, “It’s not convenient here. Let’s go over to my side to chat.”

Chen Yuheng was astonished. In his impression of Ace, the man had always been able to speak to his heart’s content…

Chen Yuheng stood up and followed Ace to his office.

Ace’s office was extremely messy. His desk, floor, bookshelf, and chair were piled with various experiment data and report forms. Ace managed to find a chair that did not have any junk on it and pushed it to Chen Yuheng. He signaled for him to have a seat before pushing the computer’s display screen over for him to have a look.

He clicked a few times with his mouse. The computer display screen began to play the chaotic scene that occurred this morning at the first level lobby.

“I obtained this from the surveillance cameras. Have a look.”

Chen Yuheng raised his eyebrows and looked at Ace, unable to comprehend what was going on. Ultimately, he still endured and finished watching the entire video.

The video wasn’t long. The whole situation, from start till the end, was only about two to three minutes in total.

The video ended when the security officers dragged the men away. Chen Yuheng looked at Ace and tilted his head.

“Say it. What’s the matter?” He asked.

Ace moved closer to him by wheeling over on his computer chair. It was rare to see a serious look on his face. “Did you… notice anything?” Ace asked.

“What?” Chen Yuheng furrowed his eyebrows. He didn’t like it when people left him hanging.

Ace took a deep breath before he said slowly, “You are not allowed to hit me after I tell you.”

“Say it.” Chen Yuheng’s patience was about to run out.

Ace nodded his head. He said it distinctly, “I think you… have something for Ruan Ruan.”

Chen Yuheng was silent for a moment. “You gathered that from this video?” He asked.

Ace shook his head, but then nodded it. “I detected it earlier, but I didn’t dare to affirm it. But after watching this video, I am sure that you have feelings for Ruan Ruan!”

He moved the cursor and rewound the video to the point when Chen Yuheng kicked at the two men crazily. “You are beginning to pay too much attention to Ruan Ruan. As your friend, I have to remind you…”

“You are overthinking this,” Chen Yuheng interrupted him expressionlessly.

“You should know best if I am overthinking this or not.” Ace began to smile as he usually would. “Previously, when I wanted to borrow Ruan Ruan from you, you refused. I didn’t think much about that. Thereafter, when Ruan Ruan was eating ice cream, your reaction was a little off… Also, when we were playing tennis, don’t you think you were too domineering toward Ruan Ruan? How will you explain yourself this time then? You only have to say something and let the security officers throw them out. Why did you beat them up? Yuheng, don’t deny it. You know it deep down your heart!”

Chen Yuheng furrowed his eyebrows. Despite the slight panic in his heart, he still answered rationally. “… Xu Zhicheng tried to provoke me. I can’t stand the sight of him, that’s why I taught him a lesson. What’s strange about that? Ace, I admit that I find Ruan Ruan a little special and that she also deserves the special treatment from us. But developing feelings is impossible.”

Ace looked at him deeply for a long moment before letting out a sigh. “I wish I misunderstood this…” With that, he smiled and touched the back of his head. “You’ve never had a woman after so many years. Suddenly seeing you so meticulous with a robot, I panicked a little. I was afraid you would go astray!” He teased.

Chen Yuheng pursed his lips tightly and remained silent.

Ace continued, “Artificial intelligence will either progress or not progress at all. If it progresses, she will become a super-intellect. If it doesn’t, she will ultimately just be a pile of scrap metal. No matter what it is, she will just be a thoughtless and emotionless object. Moreover, she won’t be able to have children. So don’t make a foolish mistake! Don’t end up being a laughing stock!”

Chen Yuheng did not know what kind of expression he should have in response to Ace’s words. But he could distinctly feel the harsh tug at his heart when Ace said the words: “A pile of scrap metal”.

Could it be that he had really… begun to like her?

It was not the kind of love that one would have for a cat or a dog, or the kind of adoration one would have for a child. What exactly were these feelings?…
