Cathy froze. She initially had no intention to interact with Nina at this party. She also had no intention to tell these sharp and fashionable girls that she had a relative from Maine.

“Who is she, Cathy?” Sure enough, the girls were all sizing up Nina’s plain outfit, which was a stark contrast to their low-cut, ultra-short, fashionable nightclub outfits.

“I remember. They were brought here by Eddie,” a girl remarked.

“Eddie? Marion’s little sidekick?”

Another girl asked, gloating, “Are you close to them, Cathy?”

Cathy didn’t look happy.

The girls around her were all egoistic and arrogant. They would kick a girl out of their little group just because she was dating a country bumpkin.

Cathy did not want to explain her relationship with Nina to them because they would definitely mock and ostracize her behind her back.

This was a great form of entertainment for them.

Cathy avoided Nina’s gaze. “Not really. We’ve spoken a few times.”

She was technically not lying. It was true that she did not know Nina very well and had only spoken to her a few times.

Nina did not interact with her at home for the past two days.

Nina raised an eyebrow.

This brat!

A few of the girls weren’t satisfied with that answer. They could tell that Cathy was lying.

“Fine, she’s a relative of mine. We’ve only met twice, and her mother wants me to take care of her at school. That’s all!” Cathy admitted in embarrassment.

The girls exchanged looks as if they had discovered something interesting.

“You’re in trouble,” said Nina impatiently. “I’ll walk you back to school. Now go in and pack up.”

Cathy looked at Nina in disbelief.

The girls looked surprised too, and they laughed.

“Oh, baby Cathy, you’re in trouble. Your relative is sending you back to school,” one of the girls quipped sarcastically.

“Cathy, your relative is scared. Why don’t you send her back to school instead?”

Cathy felt humiliated. She put away the foundation cream expressionlessly and avoided Nina’s gaze. “Go back to school by yourself. We still have to play a while more.”

Another girl with a lip piercing said, “Did you hear that? Cathy doesn’t want to go back with you. You can go back yourself, LG University’s goody-goody.”

Beth gently tugged at Nina. No matter what Nina had to do with Cathy, she didn’t want Nina to get involved with this group of girls.

Although they were about the same age, some of them were not students but girls who had dropped out of school and spent their days in illegal places around the university with hooligans.

They would only bring along girls like Cathy, who had some money and fame in school, to play.

They looked down on girls who were so-called goody two shoes, like Beth.

Nina ignored them. She stared indifferently at Cathy. “I don’t want to upset Boris and my mother because you got into an accident—”

“Shut up!” Cathy hurriedly interrupted Nina. Damn it, Nina almost exposed their relationship.

“Nina, I’m not that close to you, so it’s not your place to interfere in my business. Am I clear enough?” With that, Cathy began returning to the booth first.

The girls laughed mockingly at Nina and also prepared to return.

Cathy stopped in front of the door and turned her face sideways, unwilling to look at Nina. She lowered her voice and softened her tone. “You should go back first. I’ll be fine with Marion, Joel, and the others around.”
