Claude picked up his phone and dialed the University of Science and Technology upon recalling Boris’ reminder this morning.

Boris had arranged interviews at two universities for Nina today.

If her LG University interview was unsuccessful, they could try out at the University of Science and Technology next door.

In actual fact, everyone in the family believed that Nina’s university enrollment might be a long process.

So why had Boris still arranged for LG University as the first choice for Nina if it was so difficult to enroll in?

First of all, he hoped that Nina could enter a prestigious university, even if it was only a one-in-a-million chance.

Next, Boris had realized through his observations over the past few days that although Nina didn’t talk much, there was a certain arrogance in her.

He hoped that this child could experience a little setback. However, he could not be the one to introduce setbacks into her life as her new stepfather.

The university interview was meant to give Nina a small stumbling block to help her get to know herself better through experiencing such small setbacks. Boris believed it was a good idea.

Nina entered the office.

A bespectacled man sat behind his desk. He was holding Nina’s portfolio.

Nina sat across from him. “Hi, I’m Nina Jowett.”

As the man looked down at the documents, he asked, “You’re a Bioinformatics major at the Public University of Maine?”

“Yes,” replied Nina.

The man looked up and studied Nina. She wasn’t dressed in local fashion, but she looked decent enough.

He had actually received Nina’s portfolio yesterday. He was very curious as to how a student from such a low-ranking university in Maine could be qualified for a transfer interview to a Boston university.

Later on, he found out that Nina’s stepfather had invested in the college’s newly constructed Science and Technology Museum.

Of course, he had only invested a small portion of it.

This investment had benefited the Milton family’s daughter, the girl named Cathy. She had been given the opportunity to host this year’s Welcome Gala and was rumored to have even been selected as the cheerleading team captain.

The Miltons sure were greedy.

They really sent another child who was completely incompatible with LG University.

What did they think of this noble institution? The Milton family kindergarten that could be appeased with a little money?

This displeased him greatly.

Hence, it was difficult for him to maintain his usual kind smile in front of Nina. He decided to dismiss this girl quickly.

“How many mathematics classes have you attended?

“What have you learned so far in engineering mathematics?

“How many computer engineering classes have you attended?

“Who wrote AutoDock?”

Nina answered them one by one. It was a standard response, and he could not find any fault with it.

The man was about to begin his closing statement. “Sorry—”

Nina interrupted him coldly. “Sorry, I only came in to ask about my dormitory arrangements and where I can get my keys.”

The man was stunned for a moment before an odd smile appeared on his face. “I think you’re mistaken, Miss Jowett. You are not accepted.”

Nina frowned.

Just then, the office phone buzzed.

The man stood up and smiled. “Sorry.”

He picked up the phone.

Nina could not hear the contents of the call, but she observed how the man’s relaxed expression at first gradually became serious. Soon after, he had a look of disbelief over what he heard in the call.

In the end, the man exhaled, hung up the phone, and studied Nina again. “You’ve been accepted, Miss Jowett.”

Nina stood up. “Where are my keys?”

Claude sat in the hallway playing with his phone. He would check out the girls passing by from the corner of his eyes whenever he got bored.

The office door opened.

Nina’s pretty little face was as calm and unruffled as ever. Claude couldn’t tell how the interview had gone.

However, he thought it was probably time to take Nina to the University of Science and Technology.
