“Yes. I wanted to go upstairs and call you, but Madam did not allow me to do so.” After dinner, Aunt Xu even left some food for her. However, after they were discovered by Chen Peifang, everything was thrown into the rubbish bin!

Meng Qi was a golden retriever that she picked up from the streets in the past. It had accompanied her for two years!

She went downstairs and walked to Meng Qi’s little house. She saw it laying there, looking like it did not have any energy.

She reached her hand out to touch Meng Qi’s body, but it only whimpered softly at her before laying back down again.
“What’s wrong with you?” For the past two years, she had never seen Meng Qi in such a state before.
They had a checkup done every month, and it had always been healthy. Why did it suddenly become like this?
It is already past 10 PM; the veterinary hospital must be closed.
“Meng Qi, I’ll bring you to the doctor tomorrow.” As she was still worried about it, she carried Meng Qi’s large body with her when she stood up.
“Tonight, you will sleep with me!”
Although it was a little heavy, Gu Qiangwei could not bear to leave the sickly Meng Qi to sleep alone downstairs.

She laid onto her bed again and turned off the lights in the bedroom, only leaving a small bedside lamp on. Ever since her mother left, she developed a habit of only being able to sleep if the lights were on.
As she drowsily went to sleep, Gu Qiangwei suddenly heard the sound of her doorknob turning. The sound also startled and woke Meng Qi, who was sleeping on the sofa. It got up forcefully and glared ferociously at the door.
In the next second, Gu Qiangwei lifted her head in the dim light and saw the door being pushed open suddenly.
“Who is it?!”
Although she was in her own home, it was in the middle of the night. Gu Qiangwei raised her guard! She stared directly at the dark shadow walking in.
Afterward, a strong whiff of alcohol engulfed her nose.
Under the light, the dark shadow became more and more familiar until it was right in front of her bed.
“Gu Shijie?!”
